The Nkulu's house was perfect. We were only two adults and a child of 8 years. Next time we will invite two more family members to take advantage of the spacious house and extra bedroom, to get maximum value. The strong running water and having full-backup electricity added to the overall comfort. The original quality wooden furniture and plenty of reading from the private collection in the house and reception added warmth and homeliness.

For the price we paid, I would have expected that at least Breakfast is included. The sliding doors in Nkulu's hour needs serious maintenance. I pointed it out to the manager.

The property was well maintained and just all round great, we travel with two young children and the facilities accommodate for them. Will definitely be back

Literally everything. For instance the garden infront of the villa we stayed in, the thorn bushes have even been trimmed back well away from the walking path. Attention to detail is great

The breakfasts and dinners were of top restaurant quality. We even had a genet "join" us for one of our dinners. We were also provided with a very generous packed breakfast to take with us into the park. The front office staff went out of their way to book our activities. We so appreciated the unexpected upgrade to a honeymoon unit! We loved seeing so many buck species around our very private unit and would recommend walking the 4 km trail near the premises

This place is such a gem! It's absolutely perfect. The view is stunning. They have a museum which is really interesting. They also have a 4km walk in the property, allowing you to admire the beautiful antelope. The food is absolutely delicious! But the best of all is the staff. They're super friendly and helpful. A guy named Lesley kept checking on us and made our stay wonderful. They are so accommodating. They even arranged our safari drive. They packed our breakfast (which was huge!) They even included water, fruit, yogurt and chocolates! This place really is the best! We can't wait to be back. They also have a 4 star rating which isn't shown on bookings.com

We had the most amazing weekend away at Hluhluwe River Lodge! The food was exceptional, the location of the property was great, we were close to all the activities that we wanted to do. We loved our dinner visits from the local Genet. The hosting was brilliant! We had some lovely conversations with the owner and the manager about the history and rich culture within the area! We can’t wait to visit again! Thank you for a special Anniversary getaway Hluhluwe River Lodge!

The breakfasts and dinners were excellent, the staff very friendly and kind. Ockert the lodge manager went out of his way to ensure we had a great experience !

The location was very convenient and the grounds beautiful, with plenty of wildlife to see even there. Comfortable, cosy cabins, very private, with nice views into the woods. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, organising amazing tours, very convenient for Hluhluwe, and the meals were excellent. I had to work a little there, and setting up the laptop in the lounge for meetings was great.

Definitely my own fault, but slightly clearer messaging that some sat navs will lead you very close to the lodge, but very much to the wrong place would be useful! :D Also, a bit more hot water would have been appreciated for back to back showers.

Very nice lodge overlooking St Lucia's lake. Big rooms, cheeky monkeys and a funny friendly genet that kept the kids entertained over dinner. We asked for a packed lunch one day and were provided with a really nice one including all sort of treats - really nice touch!

To be honest - my main criticism is only in comparison with other places we stayed at throughout our trip. This lodge wasn't cheap and even though it was lovely the feel of value for money was probably the weakest in our trip. For example, while dinner was really good, there wasn't really any choice (other than 2 options for the main course). We used the laundry service and - again, very very efficient - that was substantially more expensive than any other laundry service we used throughout our trip. One last thing - the road to get to the lodge is very bumpy. Totally doable with a regular sedan but still, bumpy.

Loved the peacefulness, staff were engaging and went over and above to assist us find a mechanic on a public holiday! I cannot recall the employees name but thank you! Fantastic service from Rebecca when I pre-booked the lake cruise. Great food and service at dinner!

The chalet was clean and well maintained. I would have preferred better pillows so perhaps something to improve on in the near future.

The food at Hluhluwe river lodge was out of this world!! Breakfast and supper was first class. My wife and I went on honey moon and we were blown away. They accommodated us with everything we needed. Very considerate as they even helped us arrange game drives and activities in St Lucia. Amazingly friendly staff!! Nothing but compliments for Hluhluwe River Lodge

I would not have any big complaints for the lodge. Our stay was awesome. Treated like royalty. The mosquitos were a issue but the lodge did everything to help with that from mosquito repellent to mosquito nets over your bed
