Okay, so this is a spectacular location. The views are breathtaking. The castle is gorgeous, the town quaint. The canyons all around make it a real island. The breakfast is incredible, as is the dinner. I was looking for a room that would make me feel like I was staying in a medieval castle. This castle hits the nail on the head. I was enchanted from start to finish. I stayed in a small room in the tower with a curved ceiling. If you want a bigger room, choose the junior suite or a room not in the tower. Free parking right outside. Ask for the key to go up on the battlement, the views are out of this world.

Can’t think of any way to make it better. Perfect from start to finish.

Superb location in the beautiful and historic village of Alancon with its Banksy like amusing murals on many of the village houses. Other facilities also around the village.

No walk in shower. No evening dining before 8.30 (typical and usual Spanish culture) But not helpful for those who don't (or can't) eat late. No accommodation for disabled parking adjacent to the hotel entrance. Its a sensitive sight but could be done with some thought.

Arriving at the Alarcon village was like something out of a story book with the castle being the main character. It was such a treat to stay in a building so beautifully preserved. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were cosy and warm and the food at the restaurant was excellent. If your budget allows it, book your stay in the tower for the whole experience. Alarcón is a pretty village with a selection of restaurants and bars.

This is a stunning venue overlooking the river. The castle has been totally refurbished to make it extremely comfortable but not losing the feeling of residing in a small castle. The room we had was well furnished and very comfortable. The bar/Dining area is the old main halls and very impressive. The food was excellent. It sits on the the edge of the village and there are other places open for food and drink, but it is limited. The walking opportunities in this area and very well advertised and quite dramatic.

My only problem was the absence of in room tea/coffee making facilities. Quite a disappointment for an otherwise excellent place to stay.

Nice experience of staying in a real small castle. Good views from windows on upper floors. Excellent restaurant serving many tasty local dishes. Easy road access and parking right outside the castle. Tiny village outside the castle is largely “dead” but offers some pleasant streets for walking.

This is not a typical hotel with a big lobby, shopping arcades, etc. but instead has a nice “middle-of-nowhere” atmosphere, silence and great views of the surrounding plains. Overall a fun stay although a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Lovely location, very quiet with spectacular scenery Very small hotel with Great staff and a great atmosphere

Only problem for me personally was the food. Vege option was a Vege burger but it turned out to be plant based, and as a vegetarian who doesn't like meat, the last thing I want is 2 plant based pates that look and taste like meat. This is the mistake many hotels make, they confuse vegetarians with vegans and they are very different. Husband enjoyed his steak though.

First of all, staying in a castle is SO COOL! The building and grounds did not disappoint at all. It is beautifully restored, and there are lots of spaces to explore, including the ramparts, great hall, and castle walls. The whole fortification around Alarcón is truly impressive. I went on a hike around the city walls that had some peaceful nature and great views of the various fortifications around the area. There is also a viewpoint of the castle at the tower as you drive in. Room was a bit cramped, but otherwise comfortable especially considering it’s a centuries old castle! I appreciated that the restaurant had vegan and vegetarian options on the menu.

I was a bit disappointed by my assigned room. I booked “superior double” hoping for cool stone walls and an external view, but ended up with #101 that looks into the courtyard and was mostly plaster. If I go back, I would try to book a specific room since there is clearly variation within room categories. Two other things that aren’t necessarily bad, but that I wish I’d known: First, the English level of staff is lower than what I have experienced at other hotels in Spain. While everyone was versed in the basics and perfectly willing to help, I wouldn’t plan on having lots of complex questions and special requests. Second, this is a VERY small town a long way from anything, so it’s important to bring anything you need with you. (For me, this was snacks!)

The breakfast was really good, the location in a castle was the best, I like that you could see the original walls of the castle, I just wish we could of seen more rooms in the castle, the bar and restaurant were really neat to see the walls and the ceiling.verry quaint out in the middle of nowhere.

I could not stay there longer.

This was an exceptional parador that is noteworthy because it is a former Castle. It is high up on the hill above the town with good parking, a professional staff and a unique atmosphere.

We arrived on a Sunday and there were not any options for dinner elsewhere. We had dinner at the parador and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of service and the food at what we felt was a pretty good value.

Great historical location. We did half board (breakfast and dinner). The food was amazing. The staff were all really welcoming and helpful. The bath and convenience products were very good and thoughtfully selected.

The bed was hard and not what I expected for the price. Over the 2 days we were there, the room had a smell of septic about 3 times for over an hour.
