The superior room had great views. A comfy bed and a good bathroom. The staff were first class. Check in was easy and early. We chose half board and would recommend this. The dinner was really good quality with great service again. It was our first time in a parador and didn't disappoint. Wonderful castle if you have time to do the tour it's 7 euros. Easy parking right outside. Breakfast is very good. All in all very good value for money.

Nothing, although a hot drinks tray would have been great but this is unusual in Spanish hotels.

We love staying in Paradores and have been to quite a few by now. The old, well restored castle of Alcaniz is spectacular. The room was reasonably spacious and comfortable. Brakfast was excellent.

After staying and eating at multiple Paradores, we have for us decided that dining is generally overpriced and not worth it. The old saying: the fancier the restaurant, the smaller the portion and higher the price — comes definitely true here. In the future, we will continue to enjoy the breakfast, but skip dinner and eat out.

It’s a parador, so of course it’s going to be classy and comfortable in a beautiful setting. There was a bathtub, which was relaxing.

The castle walls are thick, but the bedroom walls aren’t. I could hear my neighbors when they came in. Their talking was audible but indistinct. Breakfast is good, but not worth the hefty 19 euros price tag. I only had it once in 3 days.

It's a Parador, of course it's good. Great room and facilities but the bed was like sleeping on a board. Good breakfast, of course. I've stayed here before and I will stay again but next time I'll make sure I've taken a couple of ibuprofen before sleeping.

Location is superb with fantastic views in every direction. Being an old castle there was a great atmosphere about the place. Very friendly staff. Room was very clean and spacious. I was in a west facing room and the sunset was spectacular. Breakfast was very good with a good range of hot and cold fayre. I ate in the bar, so can't comment on the restaurant but the pepito de ternera I had was excellent.

No real downsides to the hotel for me. However, one tip, by all means use Google maps to get to Alcaniz, but switch off when you get there and follow the signs, otherwise you'll end up down every little back street in town, as I did.

No courtesy tray for teas/coffees. No hotel transport down the very steep hill into and back from the town. No bathrobes. No walk in shower. Threadbare carpets.

Great location, friendly and very helpful staff, awesome views, good food and plenty of parking. The access road is fun and certainly gives a workout if you walk it !!

Got the breakfast order wrong twice in one sitting, that's pretty much inexcusable in such a hotel ! Other than that, everything was good.

Staying in a castle on top of the hill was awesome. It made for some incredible views and we were able to walk into town easily.

Both our check in and check out staff were not very welcoming, almost a little frosty and seemed too busy to help. Since it’s an older building, the insulation was not the best, so you can hear your neighbors

Being up on a hill, amazing views. A worthwhile tour of adjacent building with 13th century paintings; while mainly in Spanish, the guide can partially explain in English. Hotel staff was kind enough to let me use a slow EV charger outlet.

The location as part of the old castle on the top of the hill overlooking the whole town was just outstanding. The breakfasts were very good and the dinner we had in the main dinning hall was exceptional, looking down over the city.

We had requested for a double bed but only got 2 single beds which seems to be a more common arrangement in Spain. The information about the location doesn't mention that the access is via some very narrow & steep streets which our car was not well equipped for.
