We returned to the Heritage Hotel after 2 previous positive experiences of staying there. The most compelling aspects of this property are its location on the banks of the Tissa Wewa, within easy reach of the sacred sites of Anuradhapura, a great swimming pool that makes for the ideal place to relax in the afternoons, and the friendly and attentive staff. We enjoyed a very warm welcome and efficient check in, thanks to Janaka, the front desk manager. We were running late and wanted to quickly set off to Ruwanweliseya, and Janaka ensured that we were able to do this. We also had some delicious meals, both at the well stocked buffets and when ordering ‘a la carte’. The service provided by the staff under the leadership of the restaurant manager, Hemantha, was excellent.

Some of the bathroom and room fittings are a bit old and in need of updating. However, they were mostly functional and clean, just not in the best condition.

Heritage Hotel Anuradhapura exceeded all my expectations! The entire place was beautiful and immaculately clean. From the lobby to the rooms, everything was spotless, which made the stay very comfortable. The food menu was superb, offering a fantastic variety of dishes, all prepared to perfection👌🏻. What stood out the most was the excellent hospitality. Every staff member greeted me warmly and was always ready to help. They made me feel right at home throughout my stay. The staff were extremely attentive, friendly and helpful. There was a wide choice of delicious food offerings including vegetarian. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings with easy access to a major lake which was lovely for a sunset walk. The pool is a good size for proper swimming, and relaxing to sit by watching birds and butterflies. The staff arranged a knowledgeable and relaxed tour guide with tuk-tuk to visit local sites. It was such a good experience that we booked him for a second day to visit Minthale. The CEO chatted to us at dinner and seemed genuinely interested in our experience. The staff appeared relaxed around him which was also nice to see. All in all, a wonderful stay.

The standout feature was the exceptional level of support provided by the staff—they were friendly and professional, making my experience truly memorable. The food was another highlight, with a diverse and delicious menu that added to the overall enjoyment of my stay. The surrounding environment was stunning, creating a pleasant and picturesque atmosphere. The well-appointed rooms also contributed to the positive impression of the hotel.

One minor drawback during my stay was the presence of bugs in the natural surroundings. While the hotel's location is undoubtedly beautiful, this attracted a few unwanted insects, which could be a concern for some guests. However, it's worth noting that this issue was relatively minor and did not significantly impact the overall quality of my experience.
