Location was great, in a quiet street near the rail station and close to Nallur temple. Rooms were spacious and beds comfortable. Wifi works well. Buffet breakfast totally delicious with lots of variety. Staff was very responsive to requests. Good stay, I will come back.

Noise from upper room was loud, chair scraping across the floor echoed down. Pool area was minimalistic and needs some umbrellas and side tables to create atmosphere. Front entrance was really dark.

Everything. Good location opposite the train station. A beautiful, contemporary hotel with large, comfortable rooms and a balcony. Large bathrooms with an excellent shower. The facilities are excellent including a fitness room and a beautiful swimming pool. Also, there are bikes to hire which I did one day. The breakfasts were amazing and the choice/ presentation of food was superb. Best of all, the staff were friendly, helpful, attentive and very welcoming. The general manager Ramesh is very personable and kind man and really very interesting to talk with. His colleague Sam who managed the restaurant was, likewise, extremely kind and made me feel very welcome. The reception staff are all lovely and again very helpful. I had a lot of correspondence with Kawsher and he was very polite and arranged things for me. All in all, faultless and very memorable.

The staff were exceptionally helpful, particularly Nishanth and Ramesh. The rooms were big and airy with wonderful views of Jaffna. The A/C and fans worked well and reception were helpful and responsive. One of the plug sockets did not work in the room and it was replaced the same day. The breakfast and dinner buffets were delicious and varied somewhat day by day. I could write a whole additional 5 star review about the chocolate cake that we ordered which was made for us (I already miss it). The pool and gym were welcome additions, and being right next to the station allows for easy travel to and from other areas of Sri Lanka. Thank you Northgate! I had a wonderful stay.

The water pressure was a bit low in the showers.

The staff and the service were fantastic. I loved the suite I booked, which was on the 5th floor, and I believe it's the presidential suite. The view was excellent.

I found the pool hours to be very short. The pool can only be used from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. That was something that I did not like. It's just my personal opinion. I also found the place to be very, very, very windy. I'm not sure if that's normal in that area or if it's the season. I found my room very noisy at night with the heavy winds. That wasn't comforting, and I couldn't get a peaceful sleep. Other than that, everything was fabulous.

I had a lovely stay at Northgate, it has 6 floors, plus an elevator and with only a couple steps to enter the hotel - I would say it’s also wheelchair accessible. Check in and quick and easy, with smiling reception staff, a welcome drink and cold flannel. My room was of a very good size, with a small balcony. It came equipped with the amenities you’d expect - kettle, tea / coffee, water, refrigerator, safe, a/c, fan, tv, and a good wifi signal. The washroom was also quite spacious with toiletries and a hairdryer. The restaurant / bar was beautifully decorated and the alcoholic drinks and snacks I had here were good and very reasonable priced also.

My partner and I recently stayed at Jaffna North Gate Hotel during our trip to Jaffna. We found the hotel to be a good option for those looking for accommodation in the area. The hotel's restaurant was definitely the highlight of our stay, with a great selection of delicious dishes at affordable prices. The breakfast buffet was also fantastic, offering a variety of options that were both tasty and satisfying. Moreover, the restaurant staff were lovely, friendly, and always willing to assist us in any way they could.

However, we did notice a few drawbacks during our stay. The air conditioning in our room seemed a bit outdated and was not able to cool our room properly upon arrival, which was a bit uncomfortable. The price for laundry was also quite high, which was disappointing. Additionally, while the pool was usable, the pool area was a bit rundown and could benefit from some refurbishment. In summary, we enjoyed our stay at Jaffna North Gate Hotel for its great restaurant, reasonable prices for food, and lovely staff. However, be aware of the high cost for laundry and the somewhat dated pool area.

The amenities were great, and the rooms were spacious and well-appointed. The Breakfast was delicious and lovely. They have an excellent buffet for breakfast, including Jaffna Authentic food. My recommendation is to whoever is coming to the place should enjoy the breakfast buffet. I'm not much sure about the lunch buffet but you always have the option of an à la carte menu! Usually, the food is good even though buffet or an à la carte The staff is always helpful and available all the time when you need them. The Manager and front deck manager both are concerned about the visitors and their comfort. You have easy access to Jaffna town and also the most famous " Machan මචං " is next to the hotel. The place is located just right in front of the railway station.

The pool and its service can be enhanced further. Other than the cleanliness of the room, the outer cleanliness also can be enhanced. The towels looked not fresh. The room air conditioner was noisy and did not sufficiently cool.

Very convenient to go to all the attractions. Buffet breakfast was excellent and very tasty. All the staff were very friendly and polite. The restaurant managers were very attentive and made sure that the best customer services was provided to all the guests. Many options and variety of tasty dishes were displayed for buffet dinner. Roof top pool was good and we enjoyed our swimming. We will certainly stay at this hotel during our next visits too.

My husband and I Loved our stay at North Gate. The hotel is fabulous in all aspects. Location was great, Exceptional service, rooms very comfortable & the breakfast buffet was unforgettable 😍 Thank you to the amazing staff who made us feel at home. Especially the Front desk staff - Bavan, Front desk Night manager (Gopi), Sam at the restaurant and all the housekeeping staff. We can’t wait to come back & will surely recommend this hotel to our friends.
