Everything. We really did think this place was wonderful. The location, the staff( especially Lucky) the facilities all are of a high standard. They went above and beyond our expectations- for example they phoned us to tell us where to get off the train and sent a tuc tuc to collect us. They also offered a room upgrade to the Presidential Suite for our last night. The location is off the beaten track,but is a perfect location to travel to Kandy, Pinawalla and lots of other tourist sights. They can get you transport to the sights by either car or tuc tuc. Any you want- just ask Lucky. We had a great 7 night stay,we cannot recommend it enough.

Nothing- only leaving!

Hands down the best hotel stay we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed so warmly and treated like royalty. All the staff are fantastic, especially Lucky who helped us arrange all our day trips. No request was too much and everyone was always very happy to help. The location of the hotel is unbelievable. Panoramic views from every room. The most amazing sunrise and sunset. The rooms are comfortable and very big. And the food is fantastic, we ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel every day and never got bored of the menu! We couldn’t rate this place highly enough, it’s more than a just a hotel stay, we felt welcomed like family for this very personal luxury experience.

Absolutely nothing- we would (and probably will!) stay again in a heartbeat!

The room was large and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were good although the dinner menu was limited. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel grounds (with pool) were beautiful, and the distant views were very scenic. We noticed couples coming to this location to have wedding photos taken due to the attractiveness of the grounds.

Before arriving in Sri Lanka, I sent two messages to the hotel asking for transportation information, but I received no replies. The hotel is located some distance from Kandy on a tiny road in a rather remote location. The owner was very helpful once we arrived on site.

It was an awesome experience, we got late reaching hotel , almost 9:00 pm..it is located very inside, remotely located n we were worried that hwz hotel will be.....but it's worth..very warmly greeted by the staff, they arranged fr a tuk tuk too fr our driver as he has to leave fr sm urgent work. They even upgraded ur room to suite. The restaurant has good food options but we take only few drinks n enjoyed the live music there at night ...location is very scenic. Manager himself gives personal attention to each n every guest n try at his best to give the best experience, breakfast was good too, though we are vegetarian but good options

Absolutely stunning hotel, location outside of Kandy in the mountains with beautiful views all around. We didn’t realise we were so far away from Kandy however so it’s more of a getaway place to stay and relax rather than as a base to explore kandy as it takes more than 30 min in a tuk tuk or taxi to get to town. Once we stayed at the hotel, the pool is magnificent, the gardens and the grounds. We were upgraded to a presidential sweet with views in every direction and a huge room ! Staff amazing friendly, helpful and professional. I felt like we were on retreat! Food in restaraunt was delicious too.. all the Sri Lankan curries yum. I would suggest staying here a few days as a retreat if you can !

Would have been better to be closer to Kandy, but then being away made it very peaceful .

We loved our stay at the Elegant Hotel - it is a beautiful hotel in gorgeous grounds with stunning views. It is a calm oasis- having only a few rooms and being outside of Kandy (but an easy taxi ride to the Botanical Gardens nearby and the town). We were in the presidential room which was gorgeous and had amazing vistas on two sides. The manager Lucky was absolutely lovely - so friendly, accommodating and clearly knew how to achieve good customer service. The waiter Roshan was another highlight - always welcoming and willing to help- he was there from breakfast to dinner and he never stopped smiling! All of the staff that we met, from the guy sweeping leaves off the immaculate lawn, to the receptionist and security guard were smiling, friendly and service-focused. We have very happy memories of our stay - it’s every bit as good as it looks in the photos and as a family the gorgeous pool with a view was the icing on the cake.

The entire place is amazing. Located in a beautiful place, on a hill that is overlooking the wild jungle of Kandy. The staff was so kind and nice, I want to note especially Roshan who was always responsive to all our wishes. The rooms are great and the pool is gorgeous, with the best scenery of the jungle and the well kept lawns. You should come and spend a relaxing day by the quiet pool and enjoy the beautiful view.

It is a little far from the city (9 km) which after staying in the hotel I think its better because the entire place is amazing and quiet and the city is very busy and hectic. The driving takes about 35 minutes from city centre to the hotel but it is on the hill so the driving is a bit difficult.

We adored this place, it’s out of the way and secluded and we’ll never forget the kindness and helpfulness of everyone who worked here. The grounds and the pool were stunning. At the beginning I had just started to debate the logic of having to pay up front for our room before we had even seen it, when our driver, the irreplaceable Gemunu, whispered into my ear that they had upgraded us to their Presidential Suite ! Well you could have knocked me down with a feather and I went into full apology and grateful acceptance mode. We ate breakfasts and dinners at the hotel where the excellent Maître D guided us in our choices. Our last dinner was taken by the pool where we were serenaded by two fab local musicians. Would we ever go back I hear you ask ? Would we ever !!

The “high speed Wi Fi” was a bit slow and unpredictable though we were in the middle of nowhere.

The restaurant and the food!! And the very attentive and polite staff. We felt very welcome. There were nice touches in the restaurant, a pool, with a good view of the mountains although we couldn’t see the sunrise as it was cloudy.

Its location. We were coming from Kandy and on the way to Ellla. But google maps took us through very narrow and windy roads and it wasn’t a pleasant experience in the dark even for our experienced driver. We later found out we could have carried on - on the main road - and taken another turning to avoid this.

This is an absolutely fantastic hotel with amazing staff, surroundings and amenities. Being far from the city hustle and bustle and located almost on top of a mountain, it offers an incrediblly beautiful view of foggy mountains from the long balcony or swimming pool. The staff is very kind, friendly and helpful. They will do their best to make your stay comfortable. A huge thank you to everybody and especially to the girls in the reception, the waiter with nice English pronunciation and the Cheif who made amazing dishes for us. Would definitely come back again when in Kandy or nearby.
