To celebrate my mother's 80th birthday, our family of 15 (ages 10-80) travelled to Zanzibar and stayed at the Sahari Zanzibar. The hotel is located on the beach, and it was a unique experience to see the women dragging in the fishnets in the mornings, herds of cows strolling along the beach, and when evening falls and the temperature drops, the beach comes to life with locals strolling along and children playing. The hotel garden is beautiful, with a big friendly turtle wandering around. The hotel was not too big, the rooms were clean, and the food was good. The staff was friendly and helpful in every way. On December 24th, the hotel staff arranged an unforgettable snorkelling tour, and when we returned, a fantastic Christmas dinner was waiting for us. It was followed by a dance with the hotel staff family, which was the icing on the cake. I give Sahari Zanzibar my highest recommendation.

This was a great hotel on the beach just north of Paje. We booked the deluxe sea view room and it looked nothing like the photos online - they have redone this room (I don't which others were redecorated but not all of them - this was September 2024). It was such a nice surprise! It was all shades of sand - calm and relaxing with modern, light wood furniture. If they do all the rooms like this it will be an outstanding hotel. The private deck with the sea view was fantastic with very comfortable chairs for reading or relaxing. The shower was the best we had in Africa! The bed was very comfortable. The pool area was great too - a bit bigger than it looks online. They also had comfortable chairs to relax right by the beach. We had a wonderful beachside Zanzibar spice massage too! The restaurant had delicious food - we had breakfast here, one lunch and one dinner and all was good. The staff is friendly and eager to help. The beach here does have some seaweed but we still enjoyed walking on it. When we were there it was low tide for much of the daytime hours and so swimming would be hard. We walked down to Paje one day (only do this at low tide as your path will be cut off by higher water) and had lunch and swam there, then took a taxi back. We really enjoyed our relaxing stay at this hotel.

The beach has a lot of seaweed but this is not the fault of the hotel - just be aware. Paje beach is nearby which seemed to be more clear and we walked there.

Immaculate property, with a relaxed luxury ambience. Stunning beach location with a beautiful pool area surrounded by palm trees. The staff went above and beyond with everything, they couldn’t have been more attentive, friendly or helpful. George, Davis & the team were fantastic! Big thank you to Edina for organising a set up on the beach where we got engaged. We stayed in the bungalow which was lovely and the attention to detail throughout the property was flawless. Overall an absolutely amazing stay, would 100% recommend.

Nothing!

Nice pool and restaurant facing the beach, large room and good atmosphere

Never got sunbeds by the pool as they where taken early and were too few. Some guest securing «the best beds» every day early like it was a charter holiday ala 1999… They have a 2nd reception for trips/excursions that overcharge. We paid 100+ USD for a boat trip to do some snorkelling. The actual cost was $20 taxi return, and $30 for the boat rental. They charge $17 for yoga p.p. There is no instructor, they put up an ipad screen to follow.

Compared to other Zanzibar hotel at the same price, looks we got a very good deal. The oudoors were nice and cozy, pretty good taken care of. The staff is very nice, welcoming and trying to make you feel best. They really tried hard so that we are happy there.

The room, as in most if the 4* hotels here, had it’s issues. I say this just to know what to expect in this budget here in Zanzibar and take an informed decision. In the first room, smelled strongly like mold. They changed us to antoher room for one day, and then to one of their top priced rooms, no extra cost. It was cozier and nicer, but still mushrooms grew in the bathroom’s ceiling :)). The AC didn’t give too much cool air, it had to make team with the ventilator :)). But these are the standards on the island, as we got to know from 3 different hotels. Though, thinking i payed as for an european hotel…

Beautiful place, very clean, maintained nicely. Peaceful location, with all great facilities ( Shala for yoga with yoga mats and blocks provided, pool, private beach area). Rooms are very clean, turn down service provided and comp water all over resort). Throughout the place you clearly can feel love and soul of the place, it’s like home away from home. And especially people working make the difference - there are exceptional, well trained and with positive spirit - starting from the Manager George, together with beautiful receptionists, attentive and caring restaurant team, loving HK, and always smiling maintenance and security guys. Place feels safe, cozy, relaxing and calm and food in the restaurant is great. Well done and keep it up :)

All was great

The reason that Sahari is a standout hotel is the staff. Each and every staff member is truly amazing. The hotel itself is not flawless by any means, but because of the staff your stay will be amazing. They will go to extreme lenghts to make your stay memorable and will do anything for their guests. I found it truly remarkable and have seldom seen that kind of dedication to guests at all levels, from the doorman, security, kitchen, bar, reception, cleaning. Amazing!

The rooms are a bit dated, we would definitely not recommend the rooms at the ocean side because they are located above the kitchen/ bar and are also very warm. There were some technical problems when we were there, but I cant stress enough that the staff will do anything to make your stay pleasurable inspite of these problems.

The place is beautiful and we enjoyed the pool. It’s a more quiet side of the island and the beach isn’t amazing due to extreme tides and lows. Great chill atmosphere though.

The staff were too much! I couldn’t read a book by the pool for ten minutes without someone passing by asking me if I was ok, if I’m happy, how did I sleep? It was cute at first but after a couple days I felt harassed and preferred to sit in my room at times. I tried to avoid the staff, walking around the hotel.

Everything was perfect! Excellent service. Excellent staff. The turtle at the room is amazing!! An ideal place for yoga classes and family holidays together or with children, within walking distance from the beach, away from the noise and clutter that occur on the beach. My luggage was lost at the airport, the girl at the check-in desk called the airport for two days in a row without stopping and hoped for a successful baggage search. In the end, it was only thanks to her that the luggage was found.

Sahari Zanzibar was such a wonderful place to stay. The whole team who work here were so kind and welcoming and couldn’t have been more helpful or thoughtful in ensuring that we had the most amazing time. They really went above and beyond in their hospitality and created such a relaxing and fun environment - it would be impossible not to enjoy your time here. At Sahari Zanzibar they say they want it to feel like your second home and it truly does - we are so sad to be leaving and already can’t wait to come back! Massive thank you to everyone for making this such a memorable holiday!!
