Room: we were actually so surprised about the size of our room 😂 it felt like we got a whole apartment. It was huge, clean, super nice to have a couch and we just loved it! Staff: very friendly, helpful, thoughtful and really good in their jobs Pool area: the pool is really nice. You have different levels of how deep you want to go in, things to play with (balls, worms,..) and the hotel provided towels what was great. They had many chairs around it but it did not feel packed. You could have your private space and the chairs we had were much more comfortable than most beach chairs. Gym: best gym in a hotel that I have been to (room for interpretation). It is devided in two rooms for cardio and strength. Towels provided again. Variety of tools and machines. Rooftop: simple but nice! Beautiful view of the mountain and peaceful :) Breakfast: you have many options and should chose the day before what you want and around what time you want to eat. We loved to have breakfast there as it was really tasty and easy. Location: it seems to be a bit outside as everyone is hyping the old town but we loved the area. Everything is close (7 11, smoothie place, local food - go to the older man 3 mins walk from the hotel. Yummy food) and if you want to go somewhere grab is cheap and quick One last thing I was really surprised with.. Guests: everyone was really nice and even that you saw them for the first time most of the people greeted and you felt the happiness and relaxing vibe

Big appartement with a balcony giving on the pool. The quietness of the place...far away from the street. The personal was very nice and helpful. We can easily book the tours from them, practical. Good breakfast with a variety of fruits and excellent coffee. Good room cleaning service. Nice pool. Possibilities of making our laundry by ourselves. Hard to find something better for this price.

A bit outside the center but very walkable for any simple "Johnny Walker " A few more long chairs around the pool will be a good idea. Always the same persons were the beneficiaries of the few chairs by putting their belongings on the chairs early in the morning.

A very spacious, spotlessly clean and quiet room with all the facilities you would expect. The room was also pre cooled by running the a/c before I arrived, which I thought was a nice touch. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend this hotel and I don't think you would find better in this price range, but you have to bear in mind it is a little way from the main tourist area.

Car park was available every time I drove back to the hotel. It’s space is convenient to park. Lift worked very well. Also, there is a simple s ale to check luggage’s/bags. It’s a good idea.

Mattress pad is too soft caused back pain. Maid didn’t put towel in a bath room after making room service. Wet floor as lack of the towel could lead to accident. Staying at the 4th floor, noise of electric motor driven water pump was annoyance.

great price for all that you get! free bottles of water everyday, brilliant swimming pool open till 10pm. large rooms and a big fridge with microwave and kettle. friendly and helpful staff.

The swimming pool area was lovely to relax in and the apartment was big with a lovely balcony. We had one overlooking the car park so request one overlooking the pool. Great value for money and a free pick up from the train station was really helpful. Lots of nice places to eat down the road.

Quite a walk out of town if you are planning to go to the old town in the evenings, but it's great value for money so worth paying for a tuk tuk/taxi if you don't fancy the walk. There is also currently lots of noise from construction work (the staff were very apologetic), but not ideal for relaxing by the pool.

Couldn’t believe the price for what was offered. A lovely desk staff, ancillary staff and kitchen staff. Beautiful Thai chicken noodle soup for breakfast and other simple options too. Great pool. Perfect spot for BOLT use- really cheap. Never more than a 50/60B ride away from anything. 7/11 and Big C supermarket a stroll down the road. Very quiet at night. Close to a good gym- Go Gym. Lovely cats lazing around the property. Really chilled vibe. Stayed in the one bedroom suite for two weeks. Loads of room and cooking facilities. Room cleaned every day, towels changed. Fabulous balcony. Great cheap local restaurants, pharmacy, juice bars, sushi stand, massage all within a stones throw. Great budget hotel. No matter you go in the old city the songthaew drivers know where to bring you back. Just mention the hotel name and Wiang Bua road. So good that we have booked another stay at the end of our travels later on this summer.

A very small and personal choice- the breakfast coffee wasn’t great but we made our own in the room anyway so not a big deal. At times the drains would smell in the bathroom but just close the door and it passes. All in all a fantastic stay.

We have an excellent stay at Opium Chiang Mai! It was a beautiful hotel located in about 2-3km away from the old streets, very quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The hotel is a bit old but very clean and well maintained, the rooms are spacious and well-fit for families, bright and beds are very comfy (not to soft, very suitable for people with back problem like myself). The pool is a bit small but very nice, the children love spending time everyday swimming around in it. The staffs here are very polite, attentive and speak good English.

No slippers in the room, so you might have to request it. Other than that, everything was great for our group!

The ambience was lovely and relaxed. Nice, quiet hotel which felt like home. Our room was on a non-smoking high floor that overlooked the pool. Each room has its own balcony table and chairs for chilling at too - spent many hours there just reading and soaking up the vibe. The room was clean, had heaps of natural light, all facilities needed. Staff were so helpful, friendly, and professional at all times. We loved our stay at the Opium (our second time). Great location. Free airport shuttle was much appreciated too.

There is a gym but the equipment is fairly dated and space was pretty tight in there. Grateful for having access to exercise equipment but some parts on the multi-exercise machine were not safe to use (bent pins etc). Treadmill was also not on even footing - felt unsafe to run on at times. Other than that, it was a great little gym though.

2 tables for working in the room. Gym, well not the best one and the treadmill should be fixed, but there is a barbell, so I am not complaining. Also the staff was really welcoming and helpful. For instance they gave us free coffee when we ran out of it and replaced the broken kettle super quickly. The breakfast is also good.

I didn’t like the connection to Internet. I had to input the password every time I connect to Wi-Fi. I have an iPhone. But my friend who has an Android didn’t meet such problems.
