Very cosy hotel and one of the best value for money places in Grindelwald, breakfast was amazing, excellent coffee. Room was comfortable and a good size, beautiful views of the mountains from every side.

The location had a lot of merits - including view and quiet - but it is a little further from the town centre. They do provide you with a bus card which is helpful, and the town is maybe 3 bus stops away. On Sundays, the food places within walking distance are closed. The hill down to the hotel from the main road can be quite slippery and difficult with trolley suitcases in winter.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Residence because of the nice quiet room and location. It was close enough to both of the major gondola attractions that we could walk. It was also nice to not be on the main drag of Grindelwald but we could still walk for 5-10 minutes and be anywhere. The hotel offered free parking in their lot which is a big plus when traveling. The breakfast was really good and they had a nice terrance off the eating area. The room was nice and clean and provided a blow dryer. We enjoyed eating at multiple places, but we really liked supper at Mercato, located inside Hotel Spinne.

Our "mountain view" room was slightly misleading while booking, but the front desk worker informed us that every where in Grindelwald was a mountain view. LOL so I just dropped it and moved on.

The Hotel Residence is a bit dated and worn, but still is an excellent place to stay. The location just off the main street offers convenience yet quiet and privacy. The breakfast offers an extensive selection of hot and cold selections, fresh fruit, fresh squeezed oj, several different kinds of bread, a toaster, cheeses, meat and excellent coffee. The wait staff were attentive. The bed was comfortable, and the shower hot. The TV even had a number of channels in English something you don't often find in Switzerland. I would definitely stay there again.

The location is quite far from the train station. You can get a bus. It is worth it because the views from the balcony are very good. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff are all very nice. Breakfast was great with views of the mountains.

There is a sink in a cupboard where kettle etc is, looks like a hotplate has been removed. Could have blanked off the hole, but this is very minor point. The balcony is adjoining so we could unlock the the door to our left, but neighbours to right could get access to ours as well. unfortunately were in between a tour group who thought they could just open both doors and wander back and forth. A simple bolt on both sides of the doors would solve this.

The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious. Bathroom tub was nice and large. Balcony was nice for dinner. A commons area with kitchen and living room was very helpful for preparing meals. The staff was very helpful.

TV reception was bad. All the English-speaking channels would not work and so on rainy days it made it difficult to be in the room. The laundry service was not the best. The clothes were always a bit damp and we could not get them dry enough in the room.

This was a great place to stay given that Grindelwald is a bit expensive. The breakfast was amazing and the views were stunning. The hotel manager was nice and helpful. It's like a 5 min walk to the First cable car and about 15 min to the train station, and you can also use the bus for free with the guestcard provided at the hotel. There's a good supermarket near the train station. Overall it was great!

The pillow was not ok, the bed could be a bit more comfy.

It was such a cute hotel and the rooms were so clean and tidy. Reminded me of a ski chalet. We also got an upgrade to a larger suite which was an amazing surprise, but assume that all rooms in this hotel would be of a similar quality. As well, the breakfast was delicious and had a variety of different hot and cold options. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Only thing was that it’s a bit out of the way, but only a 5-10 min walk from the town centre. Not a huge issue for us.

The room was good. Clean bathrooms and beds. Nice balcony with the view of the Eiger north face. Breakfast was fine. Its not too far from the center but the frequency of public transport is 1 bus every hour. So you should be ready to walk to the center for food or anything else.

The lady at the reception was very curt and unfriendly. Not even a smile on the face. So much for customer friendliness. Felt very unwelcome. And as though she was doing us some favor free of cost !

The place is a bit further away from the city center, about 15-20 mins walk from the train station. I appreciate it since that means you get to stay at the quieter side of Grindelwald. Hotel room is a bit bare, but you have everything you need. They also have a public area where you can use common fridge and microwave. The breakfast was a nice surprise for us, since we didn't expect the room to come with breakfast. It's basic, but it's nice -- you know how expensive the food in Switzerland is.

Power socket is limited to one side of the bed only. And another one near the table. One morning, water supply was disrupted for a while.

The breakfast buffet both of our two mornings was outstanding. Hot items and lots of variety, fresh fruit and jams. Our staff was friendly, professional and accommodating. The bus stop is 2 minutes away.

The construction going on next door took a bit away from the environment as you approached the hotel. There were some big bins out front that took away from the ambience.
