The staff were so welcoming and helpful. Stewart on the front desk was so welcoming and kind and the waiting staff were so lovely. Our room was beautifully set up and some chocolates were set out along with a little note wishing my partner a ‘happy birthday’. And the bed… the comfiest bed I think I’ve ever slept in. The breakfast was absolutely stellar, couldn’t have enjoyed it more if she tried. The setting was fantastic, thoroughly enjoyed watching fish jump and cows grazing in the field across the way. Honestly it was just so lovely.

The only drawback was that there wasn’t a residence lounge where you could relax with a drink. The tables in the bar were all set for meals and a lot of the tables had been booked, so we knew we would have to move. Honestly though, that was the only thing. Everything else was so brilliant.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a lodge in Banchory, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The location was absolutely stunning, surrounded by peaceful, picturesque scenery that made it the perfect retreat from everyday life. The facilities were exceptionally well-maintained, with every detail carefully thought out to ensure guests’ comfort. From the cozy and inviting interiors to the beautifully kept outdoor spaces, everything was top-notch. The menu was fabulous, offering a great variety of delicious dishes that catered to all tastes. Every meal was a delight, prepared with care and attention to detail. What truly made the stay extraordinary, however, was the staff. They went above and beyond to make my son and me feel welcome and cared for. Their kindness and genuine warmth made all the difference, and we felt so at home throughout our stay. I can’t recommend this lodge highly enough—whether you’re looking for a peaceful getaway or a family-friendly retreat, it’s the perfect place. We’ll definitely be returning!

This is a real hotel were your made to feel special. The location is stunning yet just a short walk to the charming town of Banchory. The rooms are individually designed and each unique. Lots of antiques, quirky pictures, historical photos. Staff were supreme. Parking is a beautiful river side location. Fantastic food next to a roaring open fire. Softest towels and wonderful organic Scotish toiletries. Most comfortable beds, the best white linen. It was hard checking out, but after a walk along the river, morning tea in the lounge completed my stay. I left feeling absolutely refreshed, nourished, and recharged. Sometimes, it's great being looked after. Thank you, Banchory Lodge, you've won my heart.... yet again

Beautiful old country house, tastefully decorated with a fun modern flair. Bed was very comfortable, very spacious bedroom and bathroom, food is top quality and the staff go out of their way to be helpful. The grounds are lovely and well kept, and the hotel is on the banks of the confluence of 2 rivers. It's stunning.

Our room was far too hot and we couldn't open the windows or regulate the heating. The staff were very understanding and put us in a cooler room the following night without any fuss at all. The breakfast could've been hotter the first morning and after mentioning it it came very hot the 2nd morning 👌

The setting of the Banchory Lodge is beautiful. We arrived in the dark and were rewarded by a welcoming facade of lighting. The Lodge was welcoming. An inviting menu with good quality food. Staff friendly and helpful.

We were advised that there may be a charge for our dogs, who have their own beds, etc, on booking. However, we were surprised to be informed that the additional charge would be £20 per dog per night! I was very glad we had only booked on night! I was advised that this levy was to cover cleaning and doggy- centric items in room. The additional items were 2 poo bags, two small handfuls of dog treats and one bowl.

Stay was only for one night, as we were attending a family event. Very comfortable, friendly place to stay. The rooms are excellent and all very uniquely decorated, which gives great character. Lovely views out of the dining room windows. Really appreciate the effort and thought that makes the Banchory Lodge stand out from the bland corporate offerings in the U.K We are seriously, considering returning, as a base to explore the interesting area and beautiful walks and scenery.

Very minor, but we had a couple of 'hiccups ' with food orders...but quickly redressed. It happens.

Breakfast wonderful ,excellent selection ,well cooked and served .Kind and chatty smiling staff ,room comfortable clean and warm ,perhaps too warm for us but opened window .We ate dinner twice in hotel which was good

I personally liked everything ,my husband is not an adventurous eater ,you can’t please everybody ,he likes roast beef ,cold meats etc .buffet,salads ,but as I say my lamb was excellent 👌 As he is a salmon fisher and the view from your window is amazingly beautiful,once again he says the tuna ornaments on the dining room window you can’t see through or over ,sorry !!

Lovely location, good service and good food. The duck egg and asparagus starter was excellent. The room was very comfortable with a window seat looking out onto river. Good coffee and cafetiere in room.

There were too many emails asking me to check in online. Check in at property was fast and efficient, even though I hadn't checked in on line. I can't see the point of online check in unless it is for them to obtain additional personal information that is not actually required. Food and service were a little variable. It was excellent on the first day. On the second night the caesar salad didn't meet expectations (wet lettuce with some bits not the best quality) and the service wasn't so good at breakfast. Not bad enough to complain just didn't meet the high standards set on the first day.

Lovely hotel in a tranquil location. Very nice staff. Rooms 5 & 6 were of a very generous size, beautifully appointed with widows overlooking the river, entrance and car park with king-size beds. The bathroom is great-sized with underfloor heating, heated towel rails and luxurious towels. As our stay was split, we stayed in room 5 and then room 6. The bed in room 5 was too hard for our liking, but I did ask for a mattress topper for our next stay. The room 6 bed was much better and had a padded mattress protector. I'm unsure if this was standard or added upon request, but we slept so well for four nights. Banchory is a lovely, good-sized village and a great starting point for high-land adventures.

There are no lifts or a porter to carry suitcases to the top floor. Access to the upstairs rooms is via outdoor steps and a fire entrance, which we had to ask the bar staff to open on two nights to gain access, as it was closed. The steps outside the fire door to the car park could do with improved lighting at night time.

It is a delightful location on a river with old-world charm. Generous and beautifully appointed rooms and bathrooms. Very friendly staff. Banchory Village is a great spot to base yourself for day trips into this beautiful part of Scotland. The dining rooms are gorgeous.

Access to the rooms is via the side entrance from the car park. These steps had poor lighting at night during winter. Note there is no lift in this 2.5-storey lodge, and you must bring your luggage up to the 2nd floor. We stayed in two different rooms. One of the mattresses was comfortable; the other was too hard for our liking. Staff were happy to try to secure an additional mattress topper for our second stay.
