The staff were wonderful... welcoming, helpful, engaging, humorous. The hotel situation & generally better than expected &

We chose a small room - and for us, it was too cramped. The web image was very so we knew what to expect. We have a small cramped bedroom at home... but this managed to squeeze more into a smaller space & moving round the double bed was very difficult. As a single person room it would have been fine. We enjoyed every other aspect - and may well stay again... but would make sure we had a different bedroom!

The location was lovely, right on the edge of the village, so it was quite the peaceful stay. The view from the gardens was beautiful. The atmosphere was relaxed and the food good with breakfast included. Good value for money

There was two of us using the room for one night. We only had one single use shower gel, one shampoo and one conditioner, why not two. What was the other person supposed to use? The reception desk is buried at the back of the bar, so not easy to see. You would expect it to be near the entrance for convenience rather than standing in no mans land waiting for a member of staff to assist you. Took the staff a little while to help, but when they did, they were helpful and efficient.

Bar staff on arrival and throughout our stay were helpful and friendly. Room was spacious. Lovely grounds. There wasn’t any hand soap in the room but once I asked for it, the waitress promptly supplied me with some.

The evening female manager wasn’t great. We had made a comment about the lack of taste to the chicken wings and her attitude towards us after she spoke to us wasn’t the best. She informed us at 10:20pm that last orders were being called so we had to buy drinks and take them to our room to finish. There isn’t anything around Cubley Hall. We had a short walk to Penistone which took around 25 minutes each way but if you want to explore anywhere else to eat or drink, it is a drive away.

we had our dinner with friends in the resturant and breakfast the following morning. All excellent, nice waitress very helpful and friendly. Room was newly decorated and tastefully done.

Nothing I could fault for the price, location and room. Only 1 potential problem for anyone who's not fully able bodied and that's the bath. it is a nice shower over the bath and lovely and new, however the bath is quite abit higher than is standard, so it's quite a step over and down onto the floor. so I would advise maybe another room... But that is the only vibe.

I felt welcomed. I was cycling the Trans Pennine Trail, and left after work in Manchester and arrived at 9:15pm. They showed me to a locked garage to store my bike in. The kitchen was closed, but they checked what there was that didn't need cooking, so I had two desserts and a pint of beer that barely touched the sides. I liked the breakfast and I overheard a couple of other guests asking for simple things that weren't on the menu but were achievable, and they got them.

I think there was a sixth form leavers party or similar on, but it didn't go on very late

We spent one night at Cubley Hall. The room was lovely, spotlessly clean, comfortable and with a beautiful view. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. There was a good selection of breakfast choices. I couldn't resist the full English which was perfectly cooked and absolutely the best breakfast ever!

There was nothing I didn't like. My only slight reservation is that the price for the room was probably a little more than I would have expected, but apart from that it was perfect.

A lovely family run, small hotel on the outskirts of Penistone. The staff were very friendly, the room was clean, and had everything I needed. A very warm welcome from staff on arrival. Breatkfast was very good - freshly cooked, and a good selection. Exactly what you would expect from a small family hotel - homely, clean, good service and a hearty breakfast. I will definitely use the hotel again if in the area.

A very small point... I'd have liked some fresh fruit/fruit salad for breakfast.

Breakfast chosen was full English breakfast. Very tasty, good portion size, had additional toast with jam, coffee and orange juice. Evening meal chosen - pasta with cod and prawns which was very tasty . I chose a smaller portion which was perfect for me. Plenty of choice on the menu. Good portion sizes. Lovely Wainwrights Beer. Staff friendly and helpful.

Didn't realise the small room was quite as small as it was. But totally adequate and clean and comfortable for 1 night.

Overall a very pleasant stay for 4 nights out of the 5. Location was close to the station, comfy bedroom and bathroom. Polite & helpful staff, excellent food.

My door was left open by housekeeping while i was out for the day, not great at all for security of my possessions. Wi-Fi was very poor for business usage. My room was above the Blue Room and even though the bar closed at 22:00, one of the evenings I was kept awake by people in this room until 23:30. I had to get dressed and go and ask them to leave as this wasn't acceptable.

Charming old building in quiet country surroundings. Good value, the menu looks good although we had already booked dinner at a restaurant in Stocksbridge, but breakfast was exceptional, cooked to order, quality ingredients. Good pint of beer before we headed out, and reasonably priced. Staff very pleasant and helpful, needed an iron and board because I'd come straight from work, they were there within 5 mins with a smile! We are very likely to stay again when visiting family

Only 1 very slight criticism... the bar was shut by the time we got back... maybe not a bad thing, I don't need much encouragement to sit up late, drinking beer 😆
