Prior to our stay at The Timble Inn, I requested to rebook our superior room due to personal reasons and the manager, Enzo, rang me personally to offer condolences and agree to the booking being changed. Due to his lovely response, I booked an extra night in a classic room. The welcome on arrival was warm and friendly and we continued to be looked after by the delightful Judith and Nicky who were professional, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We booked an evening meal both nights in the restaurant and could not have been happier. The dishes were well-presented and utterly delicious - what a treat! If you are looking for a peaceful retreat with excellent food and a proper Yorkshire welcome then look no further!

This North Yorkshire rural idyll is picture postcard perfect. If Disney World were to create the quintessential Yorkshire hamlet for some romantic movie, it would be Timble with the Timble Inn. If you are familiar with the movie "The Holiday" starring Cameron Diaz and Jude Law, where Cameron Diaz swaps her stressful Hollywood lifestyle for a tranquil english stone cottage, then you have the Timble Inn and the hamlet of Timble. Friendly, clean, decorated with careful thought, quality furnishings and to a high standard of blending old with new, has all been accomplished at the Timble Inn. What makes it even better is the Rosette standard culinary delights and interesting wine list. For a romantic break, lovely walks and as a hub for visiting more of North Yorkshire's historical and cultural offerings, Timble Inn is the place to visit, lunch, dine, party and stay.

I can safely say there was nothing the Timble Inn had or did that was not to like. The Timble Inns' standards are what every accommodation, casual and fine dining hostelry in the UK should strive to achieve.

Gorgeous location, stayed in one of the superior rooms which was lovely, well decorated with a dual aspect, excellent breakfast and friendly staff.

Booked an evening meal during our stay. It was the Sunday menu. I had the pea mousse which was really nice and roast chicken & vegetables which were seasoned really well but the roast potatoes were undercooked. My partner had the fish platter which was tasty but not as nicely presented and the Roast lamb, which was a small portion for the money and the fat wasn’t rendered, again the roast potatoes were undercooked. Overall the food was good with a nice touch of homemade bread but didn’t blow us away on this occasion. Didn’t complain at the time as didn’t want to be awkward.

The Timble Inn lies at the heart of a small hamlet beautifully situated in the Washburn Valley - in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It’s relatively isolated, and we took an extremely narrow road from near the Swinsty reservoir to reach the Inn. There are no passing places, so it’s a nerve-racking journey, hoping you don’t meet anyone from the opposite direction. Reaching Timble from the West is much easier (from A59 / Blubberhouses). The Inn itself is charming. It’s an 18th Century Coaching Inn, and from the moment you step through the front door, you find yourself in the middle of the bar/restaurant, which looks warm and welcoming. The absence of a formal reception was a little strange, but the staff were attentive and welcoming, so we were quickly put at ease. The bar has been tastefully decorated – spending time there is a pleasure. Our room was in a separate building at the back of the Inn. It looked relatively small from the outside (as if it was formally a storeroom), but once inside, it was comfortable, but slightly dated. It has the advantage of being quiet, so we had a perfect night’s rest later. We dined in their restaurant, which was very busy and popular with locals – always a good sign. The menu was very original, our meals were delicious, and they had an excellent wine list. Once again, a special mention for the personnel, who were helpful, informal, and professional. Breakfast the following day was equally good, with many options, all cooked to order. The Inn is worth a visit, just for the fine dining. We highly recommend the Timble Inn to anyone looking for a restful, romantic break in the middle of the English countryside. A few words about the location: the village of Timble is pretty, and it’s just a mile or two walk down to the Swinsty and Hewston Reservoirs, where there are many walks, as well as the Washburn Heritage Centre.

The room was smaller than in many places we stay, and slightly dated, but also very comfortable.

Everything about the Timble Inn is absolutely fabulous. The room was the best we have stayed in, so cozy and everything you could need for your stay. A lovely addition of the homemade cookies every morning and ground coffee to enjoy in your room. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Something for everyone’s tastes! We experienced an evening 3 course Al a carte meal on the last night and all we can say is Wow!! Outstanding!! The location of this beautiful old gem of an Inn is set in such an idyllic and peaceful part of North Yorkshire. The only thing you can’t hear are the birds singing and chirping..heaven!! We would just like to thank Judith, Helen and all the gang at the Timble Inn for your wonderful hospitality. We shall most definitely be back at some point in the future.

The only thing we experienced that was a little annoying was the stomping around in the room above us of an evening and first thing in the morning. The one morning the guest above starting at 6.30am and it went on for about 45 minutes. I wear earplugs for bed and I could still hear it with those in. However I must stress that this is not a reflection of how I feel of the Timble Inn and it will not put me off returning, I will just wish to stay on a higher floor.

Couldn't fault any of it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Couldnt do enough to make you more welcome. Room was very clean and comfortable...everything we needed. Food was exceptional. One of the best breakfasts I've eaten. All decor very tasteful warm and welcoming. Beautifully done. We will definitely visit again.

We loved everything apart from the selfish person stamping around in the room above late at night and early morning..but this was beyond the Timble Inn to fix. It was not their fault and didn't detract from my stay or my sleep. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely and quiet location. Very clean and welcoming. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room was lovely and spacious with everything you would need for a comfortable stay.

I cannot think of any negatives. It was a bit quiet in the bar area but that was because we showed up late afternoon on a Wednesday. The restaurant was busier throughout the evening.

It’s location. Very quiet, no road noise. The room a little small but perfect for 1 person. The bath!! Oh it was huge!! Really good quality toiletries. Lovely touch of fresh coffee and cafetière in the room sitting along side a beautiful cookie!! Having a guest only lounge was a great benefit. The staff made this an excellent stay, so friendly and accommodating- the team on last night and this morning really are a credit to you!!! The menu was interesting and priced correctly. The views are to die for as per the picture from my window.

The room was very hot. The towel radiator was on which on a cold night would have been welcomed. Had I have been 6ft plus I may have been able to open the roof windows in the bathroom. There was a fan supplied which made the main room bearable. The desk chair whilst comfortable is simply too low to make the desk a working space sadly.

Lovely inn in a beautiful setting. Spacious, comfortable rooms with nice touches like home made cookies and great value for money with a lovely breakfast included. Fantastic food and wine served - a fabulous menu based on locally sourced ingredients presented in an elegant and creative way. Really exceeded our expectations. Great service - welcoming, friendly staff.

Nothing! We enjoyed everything about it.

We went with my husband for a chicky weekend away, and we stayed in Timble inn for one night. Everything was perfect there, a high-quality of the room, a super comfy bed, a modern bathroom. The owner pays attention to the luxury and details. The food in the restaurant was delicious, we ate evening meal - roast dinner and the breakfast. Their local fresh products and homemade bread are to die for. We were more than happy with our experience, and we would love to go back there.

The bill but at least we knew what we pay for
