The hotel had a bar, served food and breakfast. There was a large covered outside area with effective heaters which was beautifully designed. We only used the bar on this occasion as we had arrangements but would on another occasion. It was close to shops, restaurants, bars and other amenities. There were only 2 rooms left and they were both advertised as small, the bathroom was large with a large shower. The bed was a double and comfortable and the room had all facilities. All the staff we encountered were excellent.

We had a wonderful stay at The Lord Grenfell. The pub itself is delightful. Cosy and full of character with a lovely beer garden. The meals we had (breakfast and dinner) were delicious and great value for money. Our accommodation was basic, but had a comfortable bed with quality bed linen and the towels were huge and fluffy. We all slept really well. The staff could not have been nicer. So friendly and eager to help in any way. The Lord Grenfell is definitely somewhere we shall return to and recommend to others.

All our meals were very good, the chef has to be thanked for our breakfasts and evening meals. The atmosphere was nice and it was obvious that people who ate there were regulars which is always a good sign. There were many families with children and dogs. All members of staff were friendly and accommodating, a big hello goes to Harper the friendly pub dog who made us feel very welcome every morning!
It would have been nice as residents to have our tea and coffee included in our breakfast menu. The cost of them added quite a bit to the cost of breakfast.

The pub and beer garden were extremely cozy and the food and drinks were very good! We loved waking up and rolling out of bed to a great English breakfast and the other way around; we loved grabbing some food and pints and rolling back into bed! The staff and owner were extremely nice as well. On arrival we were quite late because of roadworks and the owner waited up for us past closing time and helped us get settled.
You could feel the springs in the mattress, it wasn’t very comfortable. When we arrived we also had one towel and one toilet roll for a week. We assumed they’d be changed/provided every (other) day but they didn’t, so we consistently had to ask for towels, toiletpaper and also dishes. We didn’t mind too much but it’s something to keep in mind for other people staying over.

The meal was excellent. Staff service was very good from the booking in and the table reservation. We had a reserved parking spot that had been used by other customers and the staff made sure we would be notified when the space became available.
Previous customers had either lost or stolen the TV remote and there was not a spare. We could not access the controls on the TV itself so did not have use of any TV other than what was being shown in the bar.

Location for where I needed to be was excellent. Room was small but perfectly adequate and as advertised. Parking was onsite and easy to get to and use. The restaurant was very good. Food offering excellent and staff very friendly. A super collection of real and local ales. I will gladly return.
Room and bathroom were a little cold and even though I turned up the heater it didn't seem to be able to heat the room.

Only stayed one night for a last minute day before booking for a nearby wedding. The description says you can request early check in so I requested to check in 90 minutes early but was told we weren't allowed. However, when we arrived on the day, the friendly lady in the pub said she'd check if the cleaners had finished our room and they had so she let us check in which was much appreciated. Didn't eat in the pub or have breakfast but it had a good range of drinks, including ciders from Somerset. The room was fine, as expected for the price - was clean and tidy.
The bathroom was tired and the room did overlook the garden so we needed to keep curtains shut when changing.

Excellent food, and friendly and helpful staff. I was pleasantly suprised at how quiet the location was, given its proximity to a main road - mind you, I live ON a main road, so I suspect my expectations may be different from most people.
To be honest, having stayed in a fair number of places, the Lord Grenfell met my expectations. I suppose it might have been nicer if the window of my room didn't face the beer garden, but you get what you book.

We didn't eat at the Grenfell, though I think we could have. We liked the location and there was plenty of room in the bar and beer garden, good beers too. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were shown the locations of our rooms by the staff. The rooms were clean, airy and bigger than I expected.
Negotiating the car park was a little tricky. Most of the original car park has now been converted to a spacious beer garden. There were only around 6 or 7 spaces and they were all taken when I arrived at 13.30. Luckily there is another car park round the back of the pub, which takes around 8 cars, presumably for the overnight guests. Definitely worth car-sharing, as there are at least 8 rooms ! Some of our party mentioned odd things like electric sockets in their room not working, and a tv remote missing, but no big problems. My only gripe is that I requested a ground floor room for the eldest of our party, who had a real problem with the steep stairs to their room. It seems that we were given 'random' room keys without any reference to requests ?

Comfortable bed. Quiet setting. Sunday lunch was very good. Bar was welcoming, cosy and friendly. Check in was easy and early (2pm) Staff were very accommodating to all our needs.
Some areas of accommodation could do with updating or a refresh of paint. Stairs to 1st floor rooms are VERY steep - ok for us but anyone with a mobility issue would really struggle.
