We asked for a quiet room and were located in the Coach house- room 17. Considering our stay included New Year’s Eve it was amazingly quiet. The bed was comfortable.
Not a dislike more an observation- the radiator didn’t fully heat up but we just used the plug in heater. Also the bathroom could do with more than 1 hook- somewhere other than the windowsill to put toiletries would be good, but we managed. The windows need attention as opening in the summer( 2 out of the 3 windows) might prove tricky, but as the 2 ground floor room windows look to have been refurbished then maybe room 17 is next in line.

Dinner/breakfast room was very pleasant. Having checked the website before booking saw that you offered gluten free food. Evening meal meant I had to choose from an i-pad for meals not containing gluten, which was no problem. Although there was not the same option for breakfast. On the first morning I was advised that there was "nothing" GF. I could have fruit and yoghurt. No GF cereal. Asked if they had GF bread so that was OK. Think it was just the particular "server" who was unsure of what was/wasn't available. Some of the breakfast items could, therefore, be made GF. Portions were good too. One thing, the staff were really pleasant.
We stayed in room 9, on the top floor. Not entirely sure what was making the "noise". Possibly, boiler or water heating system but it was quite loud and continued throughout the night. Spoilt our stay really as constantly woken by the changing tones of the noise.

We stayed in the coach house whilst visiting the Chequers, what a lovely little buidling. The rooms are quite small but you will find everything you need and they are packed with character. The decor is lovely and we especially loved the exposed beams. The location was perfect for us as we were visiting family in a neighbouring village, very quiet! We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food was of a very good standard and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely return in the future. Would highly recommend.

Great location for attending a Spartan Race at Pippingford Park, it was 10 minutes down the road so meant I could sleep in and leave later. The room was really comfortable, heating was great and bed was really comfortable. The room wasn't huge, but perfect for a solo traveller.
The room I was in was at the top of the stairs, this meant I heard the floor creak outside my room when other guests were heading to their rooms, wasn't too much of an issue though. The blinds in the room didn't quite reach to the windowsill, as it overlooked the carpark it didn't make much difference, just an observation.

From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed. Lovely staff, especially Sky who we saw both days. Our room was very comfortable and a good size. Thankfully the heating was not on as it was warm enough without. Our evening meal was lovely as was breakfast the following morning. We are thinking about coming again sooner rather than later as we enjoyed it so much.
I had to put the shower head in the bath to fill the bath as I could not get the wall bit to change from tap to bath ( room 2) The steam was a worry so I had to open the window. Maybe some sort of extractor needs fitting. I wear glasses and they steamed up a lot. There is no hooks to put clothing up in the bathroom. Even one on the back of the door would help.

Absolutely everything. From the moment I arrived, great reception, nice amount of chat and directions to room was easy. The room itself was fabulous. A good size, the shower was fantastic, nice fluffy towels large enough to be fit for purpose. The TV worked, the kettle was clean and lots of coffee and biscuits which was a welcome treat. To be honest, my stay here was absolutely faultless. Whilst I was here for work, I would absolutely stay here for a personal trip. The breakfast was sensational. Lots to choose from, freshly cooked to perfection. Honestly, thank you to all the team here. All very friendly and slept well. I only wish I had time to enjoy the lovely outside area too.
The only thing that could have been better were that two of my blind where broken and couldn't keep them up that would have been nice if I was traveling outside of work, but that's being really pick in what was a fabulous stay.

Characterful old pub in ideal location on outskirts of village. Warm and friendly welcome on arrival. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, very quiet enabling a good nights sleep. After a long day travelling was able to relax in beer garden with an enjoyable evening meal and a few drinks. Superb breakfast next morning. Safe off-road parking for my motorcycle.
Some parts of room/bathroom were slightly tired, showing signs of wear and tear, but did not detract from comfort or enjoyment of my stay.

The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. It's the first hotel we have stayed in that informed us about the fire safety and where to muster. The room was lovely and light and a good size. There was a fan in the room which was a godsend as it was a hot weekend. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and breakfast. Good variety at breakfast, also good idea that you order cooked breakfast rather than have it all cooked under heat lamp (less waste for the company also fresher). Good choice for evening meal. All in all we had a great stay.

Lovely room overlooking the garden and the bed was very comfortable, the shortbread was lovely, thankyou. loved the comfy sofas in the bar area and the fact of having separate bars, and little eating areas, we stayed whilst the Euros were on so you could choose whether to watch the football or sit in the bar where there was no TV.
The room was very hot but a fan is provided. As the room was overlooking the garden we couldn't open the window due to noise from customers drinking outside, and the hotel is in need of some TLC, however, this has not put us off staying again.

Very clean with a very comfortable bed . Bathroom was well equipped and clean. Check in was easy. Car parking good.
The restaurant was not the best. Our waitress was not overly friendly and after ordering we waited a full half hour for our meal. The restaurant was very quiet so can’t see why we had such a long wait. Apologies not given to us for the wait. Portions were on the small size. My salad accompaniment consisted of damp lettuce with a few slivers of slimy cucumbers and a few tomatoes —-very dreary and unappetising to say the least. We did not bother with breakfast.
