I would like to say if the room is booked for 2 people please could you make sure that 2 packets of biscuits are left and not 1 as this was the case in our room, we were lucky that when we got back to reception a nice gentleman actually went and got us some more thank you 😊

I was shocked to be asked to pay a deposit when I turned up at reception and was told it was because I had booked through a third party. I have never had to do that before and I have stayed at the Cromwell a few times and have always used Booking.com. People should be made aware as £50 deposit which is actually taken from your account but I thought it would of been paid back the same day I checked out but it wasn’t I had to chase it with an email on the following day. I can understand if in previous stays I had done damage to the property but it was left in the same condition as when we arrived.

Especially liked the historic aspect of the hotel with its historic name dating back to the 16 century when it started off as a farmhouse and today it’s a much loved luxury hotel with nice furnishings and surroundings. There were plenty areas for social interaction and lots of seating arrangements. The room was great and bed very comfortable as well as a nice hot shower and the option of having a bath as well . Also enjoyed the hearty buffet breakfast in the morning which really complimented my stay.

The bars were great, just had limited draught beer on tap , The extractor in my room’s bathroom didn’t work , but probably just a small issue needing attention. Didn’t get a parking and had to park my car down the road . Preference should be for more hotel overnight guests than just visitors using the bars and restaurant.

Impressive attention to detail and decor, coupled with a fantastic location right on the high street. The room was lovely and impeccably clean.

Lack of air conditioning could pose a challenge during extremely hot weather. While there was a fan in the room, this is one of the many difficulties that come with listed buildings. The beds are comfortable, but the pillows could use some improvement, as having the right support is essential for a good night's sleep. Breakfast could have more vegan options such as soya/oat barista milk for coffee, as standard oat/soya is only good enough for cereal. Could also offer soya yogurt.

Nice food in the Bump&Wade whilst we waited for our room, with friendly courteous staff. Spacious room and the most comfortable mattress In any previous B&B we’ve stayed in. Breakfast was okay but again with exceptional staff.

The reception staff were a little abrupt unlike the B&W staff, except when we left and we received smile for commenting on the comfort of the bed. The walk to our room was difficult and might have been impossible if we’d had a large suitcase for a longer stay. Stairs up and then down had to be negotiated. As we’re elderly we found this difficult with the luggage that we did have.

All staff were were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The reception staff, Joanne, Gabbie and Hollie in particular showed immense patience in sorting out my requirements for working on line whilst at the hotel. The room was spaceous for a single room, in addition I was given as much coffee, tea and milk as I could possibly need, (I was offered more biscuits) The restaurant was excellent, more helpful staff, I can recommend the breakfast.

Getting in and out of the bath was a bit of a squash, due to the splash guard. The bath was slippery but that was rectified by a mat provided by reception. There was no available back entrance for the hotel patrons to walk to their cars. Not a great inconvenience but a nuiscance when raining.

From the friendly greeting on arrival, clean n fresh room, windows that open, and a good nights sleep to the breakfast before we left, everything was better than we expected, the only tiny inconvenience was layout of breakfast bar, would appreciate a slightly wider service area, the reason being once lids are off hot pots there’s no room to place your plates, makes it a bit tricky especially with children or if you have dexterity issues, but this did not spoil our lovely stay. The staff in all areas are really helpful and approachable. The gardens are beautiful too, and everywhere was spotless. Would definitely stay again and have recommended to friends and family already.

Just the hot breakfast table, needs to be wider or lids need to go elsewhere

Location, fancy place, good parking. A little bit noisy ( bars at the other end of the street) We had problems with another accomodation and booked this one at 12pm. We couldn't book anymore for this hotel (we called) but we could book a room at Booking.com.. At first they said it was a mistake and they didn't have any rooms available, but then I showed my booking confirmation and we could stay. They helped us, because otherwise we would have to sleep in our car.... We felt very uncomfortable, because they were angry (not at us but at booking), but they really helped us out!!!!! Booking.com shouldn't let people book a room at 12pm if it's not possible for the hotel. But we were GREATFUL though!!

We had a smooth check-in, which was an early check-in at no extra cost from the venue (thanks, team). The room was lovely, well appointed, with plenty of space and almost perfectly suited to our needs. However, we did need to move rooms, which we requested. The staff were only too happy to accommodate our request and promptly organised another room, which was also great. The bed in the room was comfortable, and the bathroom was just right—not too big or small. There was also great water pressure in the shower! Breakfast was delicious, and there was plenty of it.

The locals at the pubs and bars across the road got a bit rowdy around 3 a.m., but that's not the hotel's fault, so I can't complain.

Great location for a drive from the north further south. A really comfortable bed and I was in a room further away from the main hub of the hotel so it was quiet. I thought the breakfast options were OK. Service in the restaurant was excellent for an evening meal and also breakfast.

The restaurant attached to the hotel for an evening meal has live tribute bands some weekends. It was certainly lively with people enjoying an early evening drink, but from a personal point of view, loud music when I’m eating isn’t enjoyable.

Great room in a lovely hotel with friendly staff and free parking, couldn't ask for more. The room was really spacious, with two comfy chairs and seperate desk and work area, plus the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was good as well, but could have done with a choice of eggs rather than simply scrambled. However, plenty of choice of hot food, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and pastries. Would definitely come back if working in the area again.

No air conditioning but a fan was available in the room. The iron provided was not a steam iron, which would have been far better. A minor point, the kettle was on a tray but the cord didn't reach the nearest plug socket so had to place it on the desk.
