beautifully laid out many lovely areas to relax in comfort. clean and the desk& waiting staff extremely helpful, hard to single anyone out but Hugh on the desk particularly helpful.

There was only one drawback and not about the actual property. The kitchen needs a real shake up as sadly the food was poor, needs a Chef who really does know how to cook and present good food.

Breakfast was good, fresh and plentiful. There was an excellent choice of continental and full English dishes. Staff very pleasant, helpful and served quickly and efficiently.

There was no hot water on the day of departure. Unable to shower. Hotel staff made no attempt to inform us of this and we wasted much water running it away thinking that it would eventually run hot. No compensation of any description offered. Told by reception they didn’t have staff who could have called us in room to explain situation. Surely a handwritten note pushed under the bedroom door would have been better than nothing. The hotel was not full and using this as reason for lack of attempting to communicate with guests is poor.

The hotel is well located in the town. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and well decorated, with everything we needed. We ate in the restaurant in the first night and really enjoyed the meal. The restaurant staff very attentive, under the watchful eye of Nick, the restaurant manager who had the back of appearing whenever needed. Breakfast was lovely and very generous, with a well stocked buffet and good choice of cooked breakfasts. A short stay but very much enjoyed.

Unfortunately the lift wasn't working when we stayed, which would have been helpful as I have mobility issues, but this may have been because of some building work being carried out on the second floor. One minor thing, was the comfort tray in our room, which was sparse and hadn't been replenished, so very little in the way of sugar etc., but a minor oversight.

The breakfast was beyond our expectations with lots of healthy choices. The dining room staff were very friendly and welcoming as was the front desk. This was our second time there. We had a renovated room on our first visit but not this time. It was still spacious and comfortable though. We would recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

It was somewhat difficult to maneuver the narrow hallways and steps to find our room especially with suitcases. It was like a maze winding up and down turns and steps.. our recommendation if you are planning to stay here is to request a renovated room on the first floor

This is a very lovely, comfortable hotel. Excellent staff who cannot do enough for their guests. Superb breakfast with a good choice of options. Dinner was very reasonable with great presentation and taste. Very dog friendly and each of our 3 dogs enjoyed their morning sausage. My daughter is vegan and the plant based choices were very positive, especially the breakfast.

Our bathroom was a little tired and the water pressure and hot water slightly problematic however not bad enough to discuss. However we do understand that some of the rooms are about to be refurbished after Christmas.

The hotel was well situated in the middle of the town and the location was good for our purposes - meeting up of old friends. The Library was a nice room to relax in. Staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities in the room were good. Nice tea and coffee and shower worked well. Heat in the room could be regulated.

Breakfast on both mornings was disappointing. A small fillet of a kipper. One rasher of bacon with a spoonful of scrambled egg on the second day. The tea had no taste and looked grey. The hotel is difficult for those with mobility issues. There are a lot of stairs, narrow passages and corners. There is a lift but is not well located. It didn’t reach one of our friends room. Drinks were not cheap £39 for a bottle of Prosecco and a 12.5% service charge added to food and drink.

Dog friendly, lovely food breakfast was delicious, also the evening meal we had in the restaurant was fabulous. Great staff very friendly and attentive, the manager was very nice chatted to us over breakfast. They even set a special table so we could eat breakfast with our dog in the bar area and gave him a sausage ❤️

The bathroom was a little tried and small and the rooms near updating but it was clean and comfortable with a fabulous view and didn’t affect our overall experience. The manager also told us that the rooms will be having an update soon.

Very comfortable, homey feel. I liked how we felt transported back in time. The decor fit the inside of the hotel. The signage was good considering the actual rooms were only a little short of a maze. Considering we were given a room right at the end, it wasn't as hard as it seemed to remember the path. The breakfast was amazing with buffet AND choices, and they always let us in minutes before closing. Dinner was fine, the bar also fine. Cute dogs at the bar. The library area was fun to explore - great for spending time in the evening.

The price felt a bit of a hike up. Maybe it was us booking at a horrible time. The path to our room was a bit creaky which might make some people feel unsafe but I thought it was nice and atmospheric.

We absolutely loved our stay in The Manor House Hotel, room was comfortable and nicely decorated. We enjoyed the garden spaces and the breakfast was amazing. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, this definitely made a positive impression. We will recommend this hotel to our friends and family and are planning to go back again soon.

The only thing we didn’t like was that we had some work done right outside our window during early hours and workers were walking literally by the bathroom window, as they were working in the flat roof overlooked by our windows. No further issues, apart from feeling a lack of privacy, and we think a heads-up would have been helpful.
