Breakfast was actually pretty good, nice breakfast room, omelettes with vegetables in them, as well as scrambled eggs, sausages, make-your-own waffles, more. Best to get there before 8 to avoid the rush. Nice desert view past the pool from our back door and window. Helpful pleasant staff.

Keys did not work well in outside door to our building. Neighborhood a little bleak to walk around in, but maybe that’s just what Barstow is like(?), we went for a walk to get some exercise but I don’t recommend it, bleak with few and rather down-and-out people on the street. Only happening business was a dollar store across and up the street. Quiet, though, aside from traffic which was not audible from the hotel itself since it’s set well back from the main drag.

My stay at California Inn Barstow was unexpectedly delightful, especially after a booking blunder on my part regarding the arrival date. Clean, large bed and had a pool with loungers which was kept nice, we went back and stayed a second time on our trip as hotel was nice, staff lovely

For room privacy have upstairs room as No privacy curtains, you had to keep actual curtains closed and have a dark room and put lights on if you wanted to be in room down stairs, Breakfast was plastic knives and forks and throw away bowls and plates, cooked food was OK. Unfortunately there are no good restaurants in area just fast food

Liked the breakfast. Coffee was hot and drinkable. ;) The room was nice and comfortable. Very clean and cozy. Walking distance to several eateries and Dollar Store in case you've forgotten something. *

Just would have liked more than 3 pillows for 2 people...and it took quite a while for the hot water to make it from the hot water heater to the shower which meant we wasted water. 😞 ( Perhaps a "tankless" hwh could be a solution.)

We booked this as a stopover from San Diego to Las Vegas, a little gem of a place. Great staff if you needed anything. Superb room and facilities, breakfast was included and although it was a busy breakfast room, we were never short of something to eat. We absolutely loved the pool area as it was spacious and very clean and never as busy that you could not get a lounger. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Excellent value for money. We would certainly not hesitate in recommending this property and would definitely stay here again, absolutely loved it.

Pet friendly, for an extra 16$ or so. Nice staff. Bed was comfy, room quiet. Breakfast was typical, with enough options. I would go back. Nice pet area. It was nice to have a sliding door to the car area, but secure interior door as well. Good Italian food across the street (closes at 8). Easy access to gas, snacks and the highway.

There was an odd man wandering around, hanging out- likely without a home, but the staff seemed to get him to move on. That part of barstow does not seem super safe, but we had no issues. I would not want to go out alone at night.

The California Inn is a nice and simple hotel along Route 66, perfect for our stop in Barstow on the way to Los Angeles. The hotel is a bit dated, but everything was fairly clean and very comfortable. We had everything we needed for the night, including various soaps and clean towels and linnen. AC was working as it should! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a bit crowded, so be sure to go as early as possible (August). The pool was quite cold, but very pleasant due to the hot weather. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much!

Cleaning could be a little better; a few towels still had stains on them, but I asked for a few clean towels and got them without a problem. The pillows were a bit soft for my liking. Matresses are a little old, but otherwise comfortable.

The room was clean, good-sized with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and TV. The guest toothbrush and toothpaste was a nice bathroom touch. With the curtains drawn, the room was adequately dark. Breakfast was included, and there was a decent selection of food available. Overall, it was a good value.

You could definitely hear it when water was running in the room next to you.

On main street and easy to find. Plenty of parking and food/gas nearby. Our room a/c wasn't working- maintenance came to fix within 5 minutes, when couldn't fix, we were moved to another room. I was very pleased with how quick they solved the problem. The breakfast was a wonderful start to the day with many options for all my picky eaters. The rooms were larger than most. All staff was very friendly and helpful in answering our questions!

Breakfast was fine, it was your classic hotel/motel included meal, eggs, sausages, cereal, pastries. It wasn’t 5 star dining but I think worth it, it was a selling point for me. Plenty of local dining options surrounding the area, very convenient location for highway use as well.

It was relatively noisy with people outside. I don’t know how common of an occurrence it is, but there were people in the parking lot or adjacent lot pretty loud for a long period of time.
