The location was excellent, very close to the Gaslamp quarter, and a short walk to the San Diego Bay, and attractions. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby, with a good onsite bar and restaurant. It's an older and historic hotel and has a nice feel to it, with a relaxed vibe. Also worth noting it's an easy walk to the convention center, and tram system at the bottom of 5th avenue.

Traffic noise in the room was quite bad (traffic and people), definitely needs some better sound insultation. Room was relatively tidy, but the bathroom was worn, and needed refurbishment. Car parking was horrendously expensive, but that's probably about right for San Diego as a whole - If you can ditch the car before a visit do so. Also the bar closed very early so a late evening drink wasn't possible post 21:30, even for residents.

Fantastic olde world feel in great period heritage style hotel. Just felt like going back in time with modern conveniences. Close to everything in the gas lamp district. Lots of great restaurants, Petco Field , waterfront and trolley system close. Friendly and accommodating staff. Great value Steak Frites in the Salt and Whiskey bar !

Being so close to Gaslamp it tended to be quite noisy into the early morning hours if you were on street side rooms ! That’s the price of being in the middle of party town ! Courtyard rooms were better and quieter but you still got the downtown feel.

The woman working the front desk when we arrived and through the evening was amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable. The valet parking guys were equally friendly and helpful. This hotel is very quaint. It has some great history behind it. Read up on it if you want to know more.

Our room backed up to an Alleyway that was noisy through the late evening but eventually quieted down. Early the next morning the trash trucks were driving through the alley and were quite loud. We read some of the glass windows were salvaged from the original Hotel so those may not be very sound proof. We were still able to sleep. The beds were very comfortable, the place was cleaned impeccably and the staff was amazing.

Pretty much almost everything was great! For the past couple of years, I’ve always stayed at Horton Grand whenever I come to San Diego and it hasn’t ever disappointed me! The staff is amazing, the rooms are nice, and the hotel might be in the Gaslamp but sometimes it’s just quiet enough to make it feel like it’s its own space.

The walls were thin (but it is an old building) and the door to our room had about a 2-inch gap at the bottom that let a lot of noise in. We tried to plug the gap with of our own bags to minimise the noise but it didn’t really help. Valet was pricy but it was offset by the fact that there are in-and-out privileges.

The room was perfect for me. It had everything I needed and close to the convention I was attending located 3 blocks away. I slept comfortable and enjoyed my stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This has nothing to do with the hotel itself. There were some homeless I had to pass by on other blocks when walking back to the hotel from the convention so I wouldn't recommend a female walk by herself at night. My coworkers walked me. The homeless didn't bother nor approached me but it felt uncomfortable.

Classic boutique hotel. I absolutely loved that it looks old and cozy. We arrived around 1 am and we were greeted by such a wonderful man. I apologize that I forgot his name but he deserved all the applause for making us feel welcomed. The room we got initially had a smell -- almost this old wood smell - but it disappeared after a few minutes. There was a fireplace and we asked the receptionist to turn it off for us and he was so kind to do it. WE felt bad as I can tell he had a bad knee. We had a balcony that my husband loved. Bed : extremely comfortable, pillows a bit too soft for me, but still restful sleep. Bedside lights are a bit loose but does not to the old charm appeal. Room is large enough for two people. Bathroom is smaller side but still clean, and strong shower pressure. Loved that it has refillable toiletries. Location: Quite central and near convention center. On our last day we asked if we can extend our stay or add another day and they tried to honor this but the they were fully booked. Their graciousness was well appreciated. Will definitely stay again if given another chance. Staff again were absolutely wonderful.

Nothing. enjoyed every minute of it. Wish we ate at salt and whiskey.

The location was probably the best thing about the hotel, I'm very happy we got to start off the night with a complementary drink, I liked the valet services, and that staff were great. I liked the AC in the room. There was always something to do in the area.

The shops selection was very lack luster, parking was expensive compared to what I'm used to. The lack of a mini fridge really brought the room quality down. Electric ports were severely limited, and the TV was dated with limited channels of which most were news. The room would sometimes be boiling hot when we returned to it even though I had set it to 70 it'd sometimes be set to 85.

Very conveniently located near the convention center and Marriott Marquis. Easy walking distance to restaurants. Great housekeeping!

A bit shabby. Furniture is worn, shower handle needed replacing. One rather pitiful chair - a dining room chair for a small desk. The hotel needs serious updating. Breakfast would have been a big win, even if just continental.

Our room was particularly to our liking - decor wise. Robert was especially helpful as our valet when we checked in / first days. Other valets were fine of course. On entering lobby on our first day we were welcomed so nicely by the man at the "help/info" desk .... before we even got to checking in. I wish I had gotten his name & we didn't get to thank him later since we didn't see him again. He was truly a great asset to the welcoming ambiance of your hotel.

No Breakfast available!!! A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT AND TRULY INCONVENIENT. No small cups of coffee cream (only the powdered version!!!) for this luxury hotel - a big disappointment .... especially since no breakfast served in the hotel!

This is the cleanest, best maintained hotel we’ve ever stayed in. There wasn’t a spect of dust, dirt, lint or chipped walls anywhere! The gentleman they have working there seemed to be busy throughout the facility, sweeping, mopping, cleaning and delivering (he brought a shower mat to our room since the shower floor was slippery). The bed was perfect—not too firm or too soft. And we liked that there was only a fleece blanket between 2 sheets instead of a comforter, which is too much. It was a a nice presentation having the covers all tucked in, military style.

Loved everything!
