Incredible location. Remote and peaceful. Spectacular surrounds with empty trails mid October. Stayed in a historical cabin which was very fitting to an experience that allowed us to connect in the moment. The staff were wonderfully sweet and welcoming and the food was all delicious. A highlight was a 4h return hike to Eagle Lake.
All was to like about the property. It is worth knowing that the last 90min drive to the property is on a variably rough narrow twisty road with a steep drop off most of the way. Take care with the drive and know that an amazing experience awaits you. I wouldn’t recommend doing the drive more than for arrival and departure and to drive slow. Our cabin had a small kitchenette so bring food and supplies if you wish to self prepare meals however the food as mentioned through the restaurant was excellent. Our historical cabin did not have in room amenities but the facilities within 20m were excellent.

Very Very basic, but that is the beauty! the fire stove, bbq, outside and very basic setup of our old lodge was spot on for us, we know where we were about to stay. The drive up the mountain is 1hr at least, so be prepared how to get there and fill up your tank before driving up!
warning to fill up your tank before you go up: it takes at least half a fuel tank to make it up there!

The location is not a typical one. It is an hour drive from the main access road to the NP. That’s what is special about it. You get to sleep in as pristine environment as it gets. The restaurant is one of the best in US. The mountain burger is I believe the best American style burger I ever had. This place deserves a Michelin star.

The trees surrounding it and the food was ok
Firstly, the presentation of the property on Booking.com, whereby it is presented as a resort within Sequoia National Park. Whilst this is technically correct, the access road to the resort is a life-threatening ascent on very poor quality and dangerous surfaces with extremely scary precipices on either side.. this required a drive on 1 hour and 40 minutes of careful, stressful driving just to get there. The majority of people visiting the Park are there to see the Sequoia Grove and General Sherman. To do so, and this is not explained, requires the visitor to navigate this nightmare TWICE A DAY, just to access the Park. It is a deceit that this is not explained on Booking.com. On arrival we were met at reception (which doubles as a bar) by a girl in a relaxed state who had clearly been drinking for a while. The cabin was of only reasonable condition, somewhat sticky in terms of cleanliness and lacking both basic equipment and air conditioning. The large sign warning about bears, with an axe fixed to the wall beside it was our welcome note. Delaware North, the owners, really need to take a long hard look at this part of their portfolio as reading these reviews will lead to reputational harm for an otherwise good company (we stayed at Tenaya in Yosemite which was delightful)
