We were at the back of this courtyard which seemed private. French doors to greet you when you enter the room from outside, then a very tall ceiling as you entered. Nice tile floor throughout. Bathroom was clean & very nice. Outside especially around the pool area was absolutely stunning. A tree overshadowed part of the pool, but added such an ambiance whether day or night. Favorite place to be! The courtyards were unique with a mixture of brick, stone & wood along with the setup of how room were placed. Very friendly staff, which even let my wife use a wheelchair without a charge. Definitely will stay there again even if it means an extra day in New Orleans after the cruise!

Leaves could have been cleaned out of the pool more often. Too bad there's no more breakfast being served after covid.

Almost unbeatable location - half a block from Jackson square and St. Louis Cathedral - and a block and a half from Cafe du Monde! The hotel itself is a collage of beautiful old buildings, one of which was originally the very first school in all of Louisiana. Of all the hotels around the French Quarter, this one exudes the most 'New Orleans' character (in my opinion) with a beautiful private courtyard and several nooks that add to the charm. To top it off, all of the staff were exceptionally attentive and accommodating. The combination of all of these things made for a memorable trip and will most likely result in a return trip in the future.

The hotel is a bit pricey, which seems to be the norm in the area. Also, if you read the fine print of your reservation, it mentions that they start charging your credit card (as a deposit) ahead of your stay prior to your arrival. I missed this and saw several charges which initially alarmed me, but after communicating with the hotel was able to confirm that all charges went towards the total reservation cost and all we had to pay on arrival was the final remaining balance. Parking is also pricey (over $40-45/day, valet only), due to the limited space.

I love the aesthetics right smack in the middle of everything. There's no need to go anywhere else; everything is within walking distance. It's two blocks away from Bourbon Street. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby, and parking is provided at an extra cost. It might be haunted, though I've seen quite a few haunted tours on the corridor of the hotel, so maybe. I personally didn't feel anything weird.

We had a few drinks at night in the corridor and noticed giant rats walking by. At first, I thought there were squirrels or possums until the staff confirmed that there were rats. I stayed there before, and they no longer provide continental breakfast, which was really good before. Other than that, it was a perfect stay.

The rooms had been refurbished since my last visit and were a nice upgrade. This was the first time I have visited on motorcycles and the valet parking garage was able to accommodate us nicely. The staff was great especially the afternoon shift parking valet and the day shift reservation and check out clerk. Check out was quick and easy and great personalities on the hosts. Enjoyed talking with them.

Only one ice machine. Some sand on the garage floors made maneuvering motorcycles a little tougher. St. Ann street is in dire need of paving but I know that is the city's responsiblity.

We stayed in room 227 which was located in a 4-room building overlooking a small courtyard. It was perfect to allow us time to hang out with friends who had travelled to meet us in New Orleans. New Orleans Is HOT in the summer, but the courtyards and pool had plenty of shade and were a nice place to be during the heat of the afternoon. Our room was spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. The shower had both an adjustable hand-held shower and an overhead "rain shower"...plenty of hot water and water pressure. Lots of room in the bathroom and closet area. There was also a bar area with a sink in the main room. We drove our own car and the valet brought it to us quickly whenever we needed it. Oh, and the location can't be beat! Close to Jackson Square, Cafe Du Monde, Royal Street, Port of Call, Court of Two Sisters, and only 1 block off of Bourbon Street...but so so quiet. I will always choose this hotel if I am staying in the French Quarter.

Can't think of anything.

We loved the location near Jackson Square! We were in close proximity to Bourbon Street and within walking distance to everything we wanted to see. The hotel courtyards were beautiful and the pool was cool and relaxing during the hot afternoons. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

We were put in a room across from the elevator. Due to the hardwood floors and the thin doors, it was rather noisy which made it difficult to sleep. Also, the shower door in room 104 needs to be fixed. It continually slides open.

Beautiful boutique hotel, set in the middle of the French Quarter. You can literally come out of the hotel & you can walk to all the bars, restaurants, shops, museums, waterfront. Staff are so polite every time you leave the hotel to returning. 5 stars from me !

I know there are lots of bars & restaurants so close, but would have like a small bar/coffee where you could just sit there & chill

Hotel was wonderful. A little slice of paradise. Beautiful red brick courtyards, with fountains and a pool. Hotel has beautiful architecture. Every member of staff was just so friendly, helpful and warm. Hotel really well located. It no longer does breakfasts...but that's not a problem, there are a plethora of options a short stroll away.

Our room, which was on the ground floor facing onto one of the beautiful redbrick courtyards was a little musty smelling. My sister and her husband, who had a room directly across the courtyard on the first floor said the same of their room. I wouldn't want the room to smell of an artifical plug in air freshner, but the musty smell was not pleasant.

I definitely recommend Place de Armes, mainly for the location and because of safety. The hotel is in the center of the French Quarter, next to Jackson Square, yet, it’s far enough from the crowds so you won’t here the noise. It’s an old building, the room layout is quirky, some of them don’t have windows. The furnishings are outdated, even for New Orleans, the a/c and water pressure were great. The courtyard is is great, it has a clean pool and an amazing old magnolia tree. The staff is great. Most of the guests are repeat guests, can’t beat the location.

Checking takes forever. I suspect the hotel’s computer system is antiquated. The staff spend a long time working through their computer system during check in and whenever you ask them a question. The staff works hard and is always polite, helpful. However, the hotel’s issues probably stem from poor management. I was told that my room was ready but needed to be inspected. The front desk staff kept assuring me that it would not be long. Three hours later, I got the room. I overheard that the person responsible for inspecting the rooms was also responsible for cleaning rooms and had not been able to inspect the cleaned rooms. All these issues are not a reflection on the staff, it’s a management problem.

I asked to switch rooms to be closer to the courtyard and when I came back from my breakfast/walk thru the French Quarter, the staffed had everything moved including the items in the refrigerator! I absolutely loved the courtyard balcony they gave me! Also, the front desk called and got me a taxi , when Uber/Lyft were unavailable for such an early flight upon leaving!

A few of the usb connections in room were broken and not fixed. Thankful for the one on the radio which I was able to use, and will remember to bring my charging block next time I stay! That is the ONLY thing I wish of could have been better on my stay, but I would most definitely stay there again on my next visit to NOLA!!
