The room in general was very clean and tidy. The managers obviously took great care to make you welcome. There was a cabinet outside the front office that had extra toiletries, coffee pods, bath towels, etc. for when the office was closed. Very convenient and they also had a bowl of various chocolates out for you.

I am a big man and in my room #10 I was unable to use the shower. The outside bathroom wall and the shower wall were only 18" apart. Fortunately my brother's room had a different layout and I was able to use theirs. I just know to request that room next time.

This was a very sweet little place to stay. Everything looks new. The bed was so comfy I woke up thinking I was at home. My husband even liked the coffee in the room and he is particular! We had to drive a couple miles back into town for dinner which was amazing. Went to Rapid River Bar and Grill and being Friday night, they had an excellent fish fry, although their menu had lots of good selections. Drinks were $3.50 (wine/whiskey) which is unheard of. We will definitely stay there again if we travel that way.

Only thing missing was an ice machine.

The place was cozy, clean, and comfy. The hosts were great at communicating and responded really quickly. The room was spacious, and the hammocks outside were a nice touch. I've stayed in both a double queen (2023 arriving at 12:30 a.m.) and a single queen (2024). Everything we needed was available both times. I shared this place with two other individuals who ended up staying as well.

This is informative only. The motel can't decide where roads go. Note: once I am awake, I typically never fall back asleep, regardless of where I am at. The morning traffic resulted in increased road noise. To mitigate this, consider using a noise machine or a noise-canceling app on your phone.

I don't do reviews, but I had to in this one. Hubby and i stayed here for Valentines Day Weekend, and It felt homey and very comfortable. I like that it had like real sheets u buy for your home. And it had good coffee and actual coffee mugs, not the cheap stuff most hotels use. Also, extra regular cups for your drinks. The towels were nice and soft, not ur regular hotel towels either. It had bin by office for extra stuff you may need. Check-in was so easy, with no paperwork like usual. We arrived and were able to get in our room like right away.... outside there tqo chairs in front of every room with a table in between them and ashtray. That will be perfect when the nice weather arrives. It's seriously like ur home away from home. That's what it felt like to me. I didn't feel like I was in a motel... there also a fireplace in back and wood if you wanted to do a fire. The owner texted me to check up on me, which i thought was nice. You're left alone without the cleaning people asking if u need anything that's what the bin by office is for ... all your extra towels and coffee supplies, etc.. it also has room darking curtains, which my hubby loved makes room super dark, lol.... it is on the main highway, but noise did not bother us from people driving. You can barely hear them. It is a very quiet area and peaceful. I can't wait to stay here in the summer. We ate a bar for fish and it was delicious 😋 Also the brochures need to be updated.... this is like a 10 out of 10 place. I highly recommend

Just like everyone else said it is hard to get in shower.

very clean room with nice size fridge, microwave and coffee maker nice new shower. very pet friendly, large area in back for walking your pet with paths thru the woods. also had nice bonfire one night and wood was right on sight! plenty of nice places to eat close by. will definitely stay again!

of course being right on us2 highway there is a little road Nosie, but a couple of ear plugs will take care of that!

Not a big chain motel, guy that runs the place was very considerate. The check -in paperwork as well as the key were ready to go as soon as we arrived. The property was well maintained, and the room had everything we look for when traveling (small refrigiator, wi-fi, and decent cable TV) The Hillcrest is just the sort of place we look for.

The shower was a bit too small, but considering the room size nothing could really be done about that

Comfortable, clean, inviting. Friendly staff. Close to many great places in the area. Perfect for pets. Walking trails in back (Hiawatha National Forest). It's as sweet as it looks in the pictures. A wonderful escape, reasonably priced thru Booking.com. Although it's 400 miles away, I will most likely be back. There is nothing like the UP.

A refreshing different kind of hotel to stay. A clean, cozy and unique place to stay. Like stepping back in time yet with some very new amenities. The shower was so beautiful and pristine I didn't want to shower and risk it loosing its sparkle. A lot of thought went into the décor to make it fit the north woods: yet tastefully done without overdoing it. A really great place and if I am in the area, I will stay here again. Easy check in, easy to get luggage in and out with the convenience of having our car right out the door.

There was some road noise I noticed when we first went to bed, but then traffic got scarce or I got used to it. There was a bit of light from the porch lights through the curtain that lit the room. ( I rather like a really dark room) Maybe thicker curtains?

Cute retro styled hotel. Great price for our one night stay. Fridge microwave and coffee in room. Able to self check in if staff not available. Walking / bike trails behind motel to access. Clean and tidy. Friendly staff. Beautiful flowers out front that are well maintained! Clean updated bathroom with walk in shower a plus!!

Dog friendly motel. We don’t have a dog tho. So we did find some dog hair on the floors in our room from last guests pet? Bed a bit saggy and uncomfortable.

This motel was one of the cleanest, quietest, most accommodating motels I have ever stayed at. So quaint and very comfortable. The little touches like the fire pit out back, the chairs by every room, and the gorgeous flowers made it so homey. I will definitely be back.
