The place is so beautiful. The garden is full of beautiful flowers and well taken care of. The views over the river are unique. The room was also good and clean. Beds were comfy. It is really worth it to pay a little bit more and have a room with views. I think it makes a completely different experience. The Indian restaurant at the entrance is also a good place to eat. Spicy but sooo good. You can order to go and eat at one of the picnic tables with views.

We loved everything but it is overpriced, like everything in that area. It's far from downtown so you need a car to move.

Quiet, scenic. Hot coffee, tea, water available. Friendly folks. Convenient point to explore Hood River and Columbia Gorge. We chose not to have daily room cleaning since it was just 2 of us for 4 nights. Rear of property has nice rustic river and forest and floral view; it's a pleasant walk with some rough steps.

Outside lights including path and parking did not work at night. I stumbled in the dark the first night. Cannot tell the road from the walking path. Room was chilly even though it was heating. Maybe I missed it, but there should be a displayed history told of the hotel. It was developed some time ago I'm sure.

We stayed in a top floor double queen room this room was huge it had 2 queen beds a table and chairs other chairs big tv and large bathroom as well as a balcony, We didn't have a view of the river but the view to the courtyard was just as nice. The beds were comfortable and we had a good sleep. The room was spotless and the balcony was a nice place to sit and enjoy the fresh air. The walk along the front of the hotel to view the river was really nice and you could sit and watch the world go by if you wanted too. Hood river is close by with lots of restaurants to choose from and we visited a mexican which was delicious although there are options closer to the hotel if you did not want to drive. I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat if in the area it was not as expensive as it competitors and well worth the money.

The hotel is next to the motorway so you can hear a lot of traffic noise but it didn't really bother me and I am really sensitive to noise. The comfort of the room and surroundings made up for it. There was a wedding going on close by I think and we could hear music but this stopped at 9, But we did hear noisy guests around 1am I just hate how people have no thought for others in an environment like this.

The only available room was a handicapped accessible, which we didn't need. But it was an end room, very large and quiet. The bathroom shower was wheelchair accessible, had a comfortable, large seat and spray shower accessory, and it worked very well. Our maid was exceptional, with a clean room, not a wrinkle in the bed The motel looks unassuming from the front, but a walk around the grounds showed us the pride they had in their landscaping.. Gorgeous, abundant flowers, greenery, and flowering plants of all kinds interspersed among the trees, rocks, overlooking the ocean, interspersed with the trees at every turn.

very bad wi-fi connections for the internet. It kept bumping me offline There were a number of choices for connections, but the signal strenth was not good at all for any of them.

This hotel is a gem. There are so few independent "motor inns" left and finding one with beautiful gardens and spectacular views is rare indeed. The clean room was comfortable thanks to bedside lights, great mattress, nice sheets , table and chairs. If you are more comfortable in the $200 range chain hotel, you may not appreciate this older style, but real water glasses, wine glasses for sipping while enjoying the comfort of adirondack chairs while overlooking the wind surfers on the Columbia River Gorge, enjoying the flowery gardens and being able to park your car right in front of your room is a winner for us!

The room with the view of the Columbia river is wonderful. The balcony overlooks the river as well as the manicured landscape of the hotel. There is also a common siting area with lounge chairs surrounded by flowers that overlooks the river as well. The room provides essential items to get through the stay like wine glasses and wine opener…of course all of the other toiletries. The room itself was clean and the bed very comfortable. The staff was very accommodating especially when we wanted to check in earlier than the 4pm check in time. We have stayed in one of these rooms before and were still satisfied as we were the first time and will return again.

This hotel is old and has been expanded throughout time. Nothing wrong with that, however, the bathrooms are a bit outdated. For the most part the room was clean, just needs a little TLC updating.

Tbh it didn’t look all that great as we drove up to reception, but we had booked a room with a river view and balcony so we kept faith! And so glad we did! Our room was immaculately clean and nicely appointed. The hotel team clearly love this place and the TLC they give shows everywhere. The views of the river were stunning and the gardens were gorgeous. We watched the sun set as a bald eagle swooped past a few times, and it was bliss. We drove into town for a beer and takeaway pizza which we ate on our balcony enjoying the views. We can’t recommend this place enough.

We stayed in the river view suite; the view was wonderful, the room was clean and we were very happy with the space. The fireplace was a wonderful touch and we loved the balcony. The beds are super comfy, which is important to us since we both have back issues; we slept very well. Access to our car was quick and easy, and we LOVE the rock pathway walls. The grounds are just lovely and we enjoyed exploring the property to the West, especially overlooking the river. Overall just a great stay as always, and we WILL be back every time we travel through the area. In fact, we've already booked a stay for this fall.

My wife and I returned to Westcliff (formerly Vagabond Inn) for our 25th anniversary, where we began our wonderful life together. The staff did a spectacular job preparing the room for our arrival. They went above and beyond my expectations to make a special memory for us. I pray the staff - especially the housekeeping staff - knows how grateful we are for all they did to welcome us. As my bride and I age together, we cherish thoughts of our time together at Westcliff. Would love to be there for our 50th when we are both nearly a hundred. Bless you all!

I was surprised how nice the room were considering how old the building was. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants close access to Hood River and the downtown areas.

The internet was inaccessible was disappointing, also we had no cell service in the room, but could call outside on the patio. I realize that cellular service is not anything the hotel can do about, but it was weird that we couldn't make a call in the room but could on the patio,.
