Clean with comfortable beds and large lockers, but above all the staff were great. Thank you Elizabeth for so many useful recommendations at check in, and James for good chats in the evenings and useful tips on places to go! It's not a highly sociable hostel, but I like a quieter atmosphere and you can meet fellow travellers here if you want to, just don't expect it to be a party every night. Location also great if you want to be in District 1 close to many sights, shops, markets and nightlife areas. It's in a very busy part of town but it's off the main streets and very quiet in the hostel itself.

Very minor, but the upper bunks in dorms could use a shelf for placing a few items on at night.

We told one of the staff members we wanted to extend a night an they said we were good to go but then we checked the night before we were supposed to check out and he hadn’t written down the extension so we were kind of panicking to find another place. Luckily they were able to find us a spot very close by for the next few nights. All worked out but was a bit of a bummer since we were assured we could extend.

Anna and Elizabeth were excellent, they made it feel like you were coming back to your family each day. They remembered you by name, your room number and were always happy to help. Laundry was quick and convenient, private room was extremely spacious, free water downstairs. Location was easily walking distance to things in Ho Chi Minh. Would definitely recommend to friends looking for a place to stay. WiFi was quick.

There is a construction site in front of hostel that can be a bit loud in morning but of course no fault of the hostel. Interesting smell in room which you quickly get used to

Overall a good stay and did the job, had a private room which had a big bathroom and decent size room. Good location, quiet and off the Main Street. The staff were amazing, so friendly and so helpful. They told me loads of great places to visit and to eat at and were just super amazing in general. Got laundry done and it came back quickly and clean.

It’s quite basic, no social atmosphere, felt more like a basic hotel than a hostel. Private room had no window to the outside, just to the corridor.

Really convenient location, easy to find by the big roundabout. I thought it was good easy walking distance to a lot of places, but other people may find walking around in the heat to be too much. The room is pretty basic, but the bed was fine, there's a kettle and fridge in the room, and it felt very safe and secure (important for a solo female). It was mostly quiet, except the Friday night when there was lots of music and people in the area - but that's to be expected in a big city. The staff were always available for any help or queries, and can book any trips you need. Really in Saigon you just need a place to sleep, and a helping hand as and when you might need it, and this place delivers.

The bathroom ceiling looked a bit stained, and the bathroom (particularly the shower) is a bit old, but it all works, and seemed clean in every other way.

All the staff at City Backpackers were incredible! They were extremely friendly and very helpful- they helped me to book tours and print visas- they even remembered my name. I stayed in a private room-it was spacious, very clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable and had clean linen and towels. Had the extra benefits of a fridge, kettle, lockable draws, a balcony, shower gel & shampoo! The room was air conditioned and quiet at night so I got a very good sleep. There was a free water refill station in the reception area.

Fantastic staff!! Both reception staff that i spoke with were incredibly friendly and helpful. Rooms and bathrooms were always kept clean and the privacy curtains were great. Great location and the cu chi tunnels tour with them was fab

The bunk beds probably need an upgrade now, uncomfortable hard pillow and mattress. The beds also were really squeaky when you made any small movement

Great place I stay at every year for several weeks, each time I stay in Saigon! Very efficient (advices), smart and smiling staff (Hanna, Rosie and others). Perfect location in district 1, close to restaurants, spa, shops, downtown must see places... Easy to get grab around the city, to arrive from airport, etc
