The room was nice and clean. Smaller than I expected (due to photos on the booking site) but it was comfortable and did the job for a one night stay. It's a lovely old building that has been well looked after. Very cute. The staff were very helpful and friendly on the evening I arrived. The gardens were beautiful! If it wasn't raining the next morning, it would have been a lovely spot to relax during my stay.
From the bed, you could hear the toilet flushing directly upstairs and then the water running through the pipes in the wall from it. The bed was very, very soft. I only mention it because I'm not used to a super soft bed. But otherwise I'm sure others might find it comfortable. It's all about preference I guess.

The clean, well equipped, spacious room. The bed and pillows were amazing! The staff were friendly and helpful. As there is no lift to the second floor, I requested a ground floor room, which they were able to provide.i loved that there was free off street parking.
No restaurant/cafe for breakfast. But they do sell breakfast supplies like cereal at very inflated prices. I went to a supermarket the first day and purchased my own, for my stay. Bathrooms are very small, with no natural light & poor lighting. They need to install a magnifying shaving/make up mirror.

We booked last minute and got a really great weekend rate. Beyond that it just got better. The location was great and included parking. The hotel itself was quaint and had some personality to the building rather than a cookie cutter hotel. The staff were warm and helpful. The room was huge and included an actual kettle with real milk. That sounds a little odd, but we often stay places where there's just a coffee pod machine and which is a terrible unsatisfying experience for tea drinkers :) The hotel exceeded our expectations and for the rate we paid we would definitely stay again. Thank you.
If you have a lot of luggage, perhaps ask for a ground floor room as there are no lifts.

The Brassey sits in the middle of Barton, an ideal place to explore Canberra and the CBD without being in the CBD. It is very near the Parliament and agencies surrounding. Everything is close by car, the lake, points of interest, and the airport. The hotel itself is a bit dated; older but still maintained fairly nicely. Certainly the room was comfortable, clean with a good bath. The reception staff were pleasant and chatty.
The soap dish in the room was broken off and we told them about it twice, but it was never fixed and no reason given. There was only soap, no dispensers, so a bit awkward. The shower door was broiken and fixed somewhat the first mention, but it still leaked water. The room was supposed to have a garden view and it did, of a pool that was a garden outside the gym area. There was a covering over it though that was dirty and hadn't been cleaned in a long time.

Excellent location to visit the main tourist attractions. Reception staff courteous & helpful ( the fresh apples available to guests was a nice touch & the apples were very good). Room size was adequate, tastefully decorated & comfortable.
The parking space at the hotel was not available despite our car being registered with the hotel. Fortunately there is a public car park at the rear. Also the hotel reception is not indicated. We went in the main entrance only to find we were at the gym reception. The hotel reception, we discovered, was behind it.

The location is great, right in the heart of Canberra and close to several restaurants and tourist attractions. This small hotel has a wonderful history and our room had photos of early Prime Ministers that stayed there many years ago when it was a guesthouse. Our large room had a comfy bed and a view over the gardens. The honesty system for snacks and breakfasts was a real surprise. So trusting! Car parking is on the grounds. Parks were easy to access and included in the room price. I didn't get a chance to try the day spa.
The hotel didn't have an elevator but it is only 1 level of stairs and staff offered to help with bags. Some of the fit out, carpets etc. looked a little worn in the area I stayed in but everything was very clean and comfortable.

I have stayed here in the past and remember how comfortable the bed is! Best bed in Canberra. There's also free parking and if you're here to see the gallery or the centre it is not far to walk on a nice day. Across the road you have access to the cafes and restaurants of the Hotel Realm, plus you can walk to either Kingston or Manuka.
It is a little hard to find at night especially if you haven’t been there before. The parking at the back for hotel guests can get full, but there is two hour parking out the front too. The room was a little smaller than I remembered it - fine for our short stay but if you are staying for longer and want some chill out space you should either upgrade or go across the road.

Super Comfortable beds, location is great for Canberra, with the Marathon, AFL, lots of restaurants easy to walk to
Not the we didn’t like - more a future approach - if the marathon continues We loved our stay and knew a 10.30 am cutoff would have been too tight to return as a runner, so we booked the extra night even though we had to be back to leave and left at 3pm Sunday afternoon not Monday morning It would be awesome if a option for a part daily extension from a 10am until 3pm at a partial cost for marathon runners is made ready available as it’s only a few extra hours and the room is then vacant for

The location was very convenient. The staff were very welcoming, pleasant, professional and calm. The ambience of the hotel was so impressive and the rooms were clean and spacious.
We would prefer not to sleep with airconditioning - as such the room was quite warm at night and there was no possibility of open windows etc. But this was our personal choice. Would have been nice to have a dining room or similar for meals, (convenience) but plenty of cafes in close proximity to the hotel.

The Brassey is in a great location, close to the vibrancy of Kingston (both old and new) and within easy walking to bars, restaurants, cafes etc as well as the lake. Free parking on the weekend is a bonus. The building is old but well restored and the rooms are comfortable and a good size. We stayed in a one bedroom suite this time and the balcony was lovely place to have an evening drink or breakfast in the morning. Great value. As there is no bar or restaurant on site, it is very quiet but all you need to do is walk out the front and across the road to the Realm (or just grab something from the lounge area and sit outside on the verandah).
The bathrooms in some rooms are looking a little tired and could do with a bit of a makeover.
