It was great to be able to have an affordable meal in the hotel dining room. The common room is lovely and the rooms and bathrooms well appointed.

Not enough staff serving drinks. We arrived Saturday and stayed Sunday night and both nights were very busy. We had to go into the bar to get our drinks and often had to line up. Our room was adjacent the fire escape and the sensor light in the escape hallway flicked on and off all night and was loud enough to keep us awake. It was an extremely windy night so I am not sure if the wind affected the sensor. We were a little disappointed that the common room was not set up for breakfast. Most hotel stays have toast and cereal included and available free for guests in the common room. If breakfast was available we were not informed.

Clean and comfortable. Bathrooms and toilet are nicely renovated and private. Large common room area with tea, coffee and some crockery and utensils. We used the common fridge and freezer to store some breakfast items. Convenient, central location to shops, cafes and restaurants. Great for a short pub stay if not fussy about sharing bathroom facilities. Never had a problem with getting a free street park close to hotel over the weekend.

No hanging space in room other than hooks on the mirror stand. If staying more than one night there is limited ability to hang up wet towels plus clothes. A towel or clothes stand in the room would be useful. All lights come on in main hallway late at night. Suggest one smaller and dimmed sensor light sufficient to allow people to get to bathroom and back. Would not recommend for elderly or those with leg or back problems due to steep stairs to get to the bedroom level.

I didn't have high expectations, not having stayed a a 'country pub' before, but the staff were very helpful, the room and bed were very comfortable. The bathroom was down the hall but it was very clean. The restaurant had a good menu and the food came quickly and was very nice. I was a little worried about noise, as it was a Friday night, but at 10pm it was quiet.

I was very happy with the amenities and the staff.

Beautifully renovated rooms, immaculate shred bathrooms, newly renovated also, common sitting area with comfy couches, dining table, fridge, microwave, tea coffee, games etc

The transom windows above doors have been covered with paper, but needs blackout material or blind instead. Light still comes through whenever someone walks down hallway….The rooms are above a Large Pub, which can be noisy if that bothers you. Didn’t see any info in listing to advise this.

Location good. Lovely clean shower / bathroom facilities nice to have shampoo and body wash to use. Room nice but could use a bench / table or something to Put toiletries and other stuff on.

Everything was great except when I found a condom wrapper (someone else’s) left just under bed on floor. That wasn’t that nice. Not a condom , an empty condom wrapper. No one really wants to think about what went on in the bed you’re about to sleep in.

Great location, good quality accommodation, beautiful renovated bathrooms with large hot shower; comfortable bed; the character of the place (renovated, but old style kept). The pub downstairs has friendly staff and meals (OK, not great); easy sleep upstairs with pub noises not detectable, and kept quiet at night.

Would have liked heating in the room; while bed heating is provided, it was chilly in the room in the evenings.

Old pub with modern accommodation facilities and clean shared bathrooms. Very clean, neat and quiet. A few Kms off the motorway in country style town. Staff were very attentive and even helped me retrieve some items left in my room. Great service. Bistro serves basic pub grub and specials available for less than $20 that are generous in size. Overall nice place to stay

The price is greater than I would normally pay for pub accommodation however it should be noted this is one of the better pubs I have stayed in .

Loved the heritage features of the upstairs bedrooms, bathrooms and guest common room as well as the friendly atmosphere. Enjoyed a great meal (crispy skin salmon with veg) in the bistro. An easy drive from there down the coast road to Clifton, Scarborough, Coledale and Austinmer beach.

The bistro does not open till after 11am but there are breakfast options nearby and along the south coast road.

beautiful old building (1919) and furnished well. The rooms are great. no bathroom on suite but it didn’t impact on our stay. in a great town. loved the sitting room which had a fridge. milk supplied along with crockery and cutlery if required. games for rainy days.

the lights came on automatically if someone was on the landing which woke me up

Large, spacious room with comfortable bed. Nice bistro in the hotel. Toiletries provided and plenty of hot water in showers.

There was a common room where we could use the fridge, make tea, coffee etc but it had been taken over by a club meeting so we couldn't use it. Not sure what the story was there.
