We were greeted by lovely staff who make you feel at home straightaway. Very simple and easy check-in process. The grounds are beautifully kept and there is a calming feeling around the property. You can spot Shannon the goose and Kangaroos in the fields. The room had all the basics we needed and was pleasingly larger than we anticipated. there is plenty of privacy and you can easily block out sunlight or allow the light to shine through in the morning.

We loved everything about our stay. The only thing that comes to mind would be to add a couple of coat hangers. Mind you, this was only because we attended a wedding and steamed our clothes. Otherwise this probably wouldn't have crossed our minds anyway.

Beautiful scenery, neatly landscaped with chickens/ducks & kangaroos roaming freely all within close distance. The owner John and his staff were very friendly and all too happy to help. This location provides a relaxed atmosphere with so much history to read into in the reception room and through out the restaurant, very spacious room, excellent working air con, very spacious bathroom, breakfast is included and you can order some extras (bacon and eggs, omelette) this venue provides everything you could need and at such a great price. Parking out the front of reception and then also right near each cabin/room so you can drive right up to your room. We will we back

We had a wonderful stay at Hill End Lodge. The hosts were extremely sweet and friendly. We were very thankful for the complimentary breakfast, the food was delicious and great value for money. Even though the rooms carpet had marks, the room had an overall clean feel. They made our family and pet feel very welcome. Such a lovely environment to spend a few days at. The honesty system they work on was a first for me and gave it a real family feel. The lodge and rooms isnt anything fancy or filled with luxury, but is a place filled with warmth and an experience that I will remember fondly. We will definately go again. Thank you.

We could not have asked for anything better. Our dog was able to sleep indoors and never felt as though he was in the way or bothering anybody. If a person is looking for luxury and perfection, they might not feel that the rooms are up to standard.

This place was a complete surprise, Given that Hill End is only a tiny village (I last visited in late 60s) I did not expect the wonderful, self- contained and care-free relaxed accommodation that is now here. The rooms - spacious and very comfortable and clean (thanks to our lovely and hard-working lady from Bathurst), of course it is lovely and quiet, and to boot - the tariff includes a very satisfying breakfast, whether you take the continental or a cooked one. While on meals, it has to be said that the dinners served are first class, so DO NOT overlook dining here. PLUS the excellent selection of wines (really!) are top value, very reasonably priced, and the wine choosing system is unique - nothing like I have experienced anywhere else. Absolutely Top Marks to John and his team of 3 who do an amazing job of keeping this place running and providing such great hospitality at a most modest price. I cannot speak more highly of our stay there. Please understand this is NOT an urbane yuppie scene, for example it is country Oz, and comes with local fauna droppings on the lawns outside your unit and real weather, but this is the ultimate accommodation for real Aussies (families, groups or just twosomes) who appreciate our wonderful country. Well done John and Team of Three - you are fantastic.

Really, nothing. The only downside is that although it is only on the edge of the village, it is probably a little too far to walk into town, unless you are fit. The village is very pretty, and of course the Pub is the focal centre.

The Lodge was nice by Australian country motel standards - simple, comfortable, and friendly. Spacious grounds and friendly authentic Aussie staff. And the food in the dining room was simple honest plain fare and that's fine - we did not go to Hill End expecting city fine dining! Abundant birdlife would please overseas visitors.

this not a dislike just a comment - lighting in the rooms is a bit gloomy - couldn't read the newspaper or a book easily. Some better reading lamps would be good. Wifi needs to be stronger - worked ok in the dining room but not in our room. Given we all live on our internet connection to read the newspaper and email these days that's a need. TV reception however was excellent.

We went right on new years so it would have been a quiet time. The host was really friendly. He cooked us up a nice dinner even though we were the only ones who had turned up for a meal, until one other couple showed.

For accommodation where it was located it was nice. Only small criticisms. It would have been great to have a shelf in the bathroom, so you could put your clothes and toiletries somewhere rather than on the floor while you had a shower. If you left them in the room you had to have the front door/window curtain completely shut. There was only a few other people staying while we were there over new years but they put us in joined wall rooms to the others staying there. Rather than spacing out in seperate areas of the lodge. It felt a little awkward with loud kids and us being right next to the neighbours when there was lots of other free cabins that could have been used instead. I understand that it would have made cleaning easier though by putting everyone next to each other.

After a bit of a mix up with our booking, we ended up in a cabin at the top of the property - it was comfy and had everything we needed. We ate dinner in the restaurant - lovely meal and very helpful staff. The included brekky was good, but not enough staff to keep provisions topped up - e.g. butter ran out, dishes ran out... loved seeing the local wildlife being fed after breakfast

didn't know until we were packing up to leave that the cabin had a dvd player- poor tv reception on a couple of channels

The meals were delicious. My children loved the chicken schnitzel with gravy and the hot chips with chicken salt. The owner is funny and the staff are all lovely. The property is close to the gold fossicking area.

The property has a rooster roaming around and it decided to begin crowing when it was still dark which woke me up. In one respect it's a novelty, though it would be better to have that guy locked away during the early hours of the morning.

Continental breakfast was good. Given notice, even though there was practically noone else staying in the lodge, a very substantial meal was cooked for us for dinner. Our room was basic but large. The bed was comfortable. We had no complaints. It was nice staying somewhere in keeping with the countryside and history of the area. Staff were friendly and helpful

WE feel that we basically got what we paid for so couldn't actually complain about anything. It was interesting meeting up with the resident goose. He was a typically aggressive example of his species.

My family and I came up for a wedding and booked 2 rooms that were both spacious and clean. Beautiful area and in the evenings, the wild animals are out and about. They also have a function room, inhouse restaurant, and excellent WiFi that chances are, you're most likely going to use.

No complaints on the accommodation, however, I'm with Telstra and had really patchy service everywhere in Hill End.
