It’s an old favorite. I’ve been staying there for over 50 years so the memories are so strong. I think the decor is mostly still in keeping with the old style which is lovely

The bathroom was a bit too dated however. Also odd service in the dining room with weird rules that had me thinking of Fawlty Towers. The restaurant staff were too young for that reference which made it all seem more ridiculous. Good food though if a bit try hard and pretentious.

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the incredible staff, with special recognition to Marcus, who ensured that our experience was nothing short of exceptional from start to finish. His dedication to delivering five-star service truly made our stay unforgettable. We were consistently impressed his professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care whether it was with the room, the restaurant, breakfast, or our activities. We even had some greetings in french and tailored advice on hikes. Mahesh also deserves a special mention for his warmth and constant availability. At every interaction, he went above and beyond to accommodate our requests, always with kindness and a smile. Our room was absolutely stunning, with an incredible view that made our stay even more magical. Our dining experiences, both at the restaurant and during breakfast, were not only memorable for the delicious food but also because of the attentive and caring staff who elevated every moment. While we are tempted to explore other hotels in the area, we know we’ll be returning to the Hydro Majestic—because the exceptional customer experience and the people who made it happen are what truly set it apart.

The only little thing we could mention is that the bathroom and the room in general are lacking storage and areas to place our personal belongings.

The building is amazing , The staff are amazing. My story starts with a very comfortable valley view room, only due to the heritage nature there is no lifts. Therefore my wife who has been battling health issues struggled with the stairs. Mahesh the concierge quickly jumped into action finding an alternative ground floor room that happened to be room 502 ,the only balcony room @ The Hydro. Majestic.I offered to pay for the obvious upgrade but Mahesh insisted that it was on the house ,tAlso a mention to Glenda from housekeeping, she expedited our transfer and made it a priority to get the room ready for us . Thank you . Mahesh ,Glenda. & Management.....

Staying here has been a bucket list item since I last stayed for a school camp in 1982!! That was in a dingy bunk room downstairs, so I always wanted to stay in a lovely room with a view over the valley. It has only taken me 42 years to do it! Our room was lovely and clean and comfortable and had a little balcony to enjoy the views and watch the sunset from. The Hydro is full of history and has been beautifully renovated. The staff at check in are warm and friendly. A fantastic night in a grand old hotel.

My only feedback is that there was only one chair and a table on the balcony, so we couldn’t sit out there together to enjoy the sunset. Bit of a shame.

The staff at the reception was very welcoming. I was met with Mr Aruna who checked us in in no time, escorted us to our room and explained to us about hotel amenities and the history of the hotel. The room was nice, good bed with private ensuite. The hotel itself is majestic as it name is. Lush colonial style decor which gives us a feel of the hotel in is olden prime days. The views were superb. Short distance to Katoomba town centre and surrounding attractions. The Pavillion Restaurant was great. We arrived at 8pm for a dinner and the Chef was very accommodative as their last order was 8pm. Chef recommended some nice food choices and drinks. Overall, a very pleasant stay. Stayed there for 2 nights. Will definitely choose to stay here again.

Nothing in particular. Surrounding roads are undergoing upgrades but once completed, access will be much better.

Views from our room were stunning , breakfast , high tea and dinner at the Wintergarden was exceptional compliments to the chef, very friendly and helpful staff (Douglass served us at hightea and dinner and he was friendly , courteous and an asset to your team)and the views again just spectacular, enjoyed a game of tennis on what must be the most scenic tennis court ever.

No fault of the hotel , but all the construction out the front made it difficult to cross the busy highway to the train station and can imagine if you had a room on that side you would be a little disappointed as there was no mention of it when I'd made the booking but our room faced the mountains so wasn't an issue ,

After the rain stopped and the fog disappeared, the view from our room over the Megalong Valley was superb. The room was adequate for our needs, with the bathroom being clean and well maintained. The room was serviced daily and the towels replaced. We had the High Tea on the wet Saturday afternoon and the service from the staff was excellent.

Nothing really. Not that it can't be avoided, but the major roadworks outside are a bit of a negative, however, they will be completed eventually. Once inside the building everything is good and there were no complaints.

Our stay at the Hydro Majestic was exceptional from the moment we walked through the doors. What a magnificent refurbishment of an iconic piece of Australian history. The reception staff were very warm and welcoming. They insisted on helping with our luggage and proceeded to give us a little history on the way to our room which was lovely. Our mountain view room was spectacular. Impeccably clean, well appointed, great hot shower. We had dinner reservations at Wintergarden Restaurant on site. Our meal was to die for. Each course was a culinary delight, and the wait staff were extremely happy, friendly, courteous and eager to liase with the chef regarding my food allergies. Later at the bar, we enjoyed not only the cocktails but the professionalism of the bar staff. We cannot recommend the Hydro Magestic enough and will definitely be returning.

The room was clean and comfortable and the view was amazing. I had a high tea for my birthday and the service and attention was exceptional. The decor and layout of the Wintergarden was excellent and I think we had the best seat in the house. Ordering snacks from the bar and sitting watching the sunset was very relaxing

Walking up three flights of stairs to my room, I had to psyche myself up each time I had to do it. The current roadworks are a bit inconvenient and sometimes it took a while to cross the road to the station.

The buffet breakfast was excelent. Variety and quality. The high tea we went to the main restaurant was the best. Delicious. Beds very comfy and the amazing mountain views in our room. Worthy to spend a bit more for it! We loved to spend time sitting in front of the windows with views, listening the very good selection of music... so relaxing and memorable...cosy, inviting spaces to BE!

In winter, i wish that more options available for snacks/dinner late afternoon/evening if you do not want to leave the hotel and do not want a 2 or 3 course meal in main restaurant. The option of cheese plate was not available. An option of a soup or pasta for example. Something to keep you warm, but not a huge meal if you had the high tea in your day!!!! 😊 Thanks
