On first sight, our cabin looked adequate for our 2 night stay. It looked like it had been recently had work done to make it fresher and brighter. There appeared to be sufficient bedding and towels, but changed my mind over night.

The weather was freezing at night, the aircon only blew out warm air until about 9 pm then went cold, on both nights. We did wonder if there was a power problem. The electric blankets were the same and it was so cold, the bedding was insufficient and I had to put clothing on , over my pyjamas, to get some warmth. Our cabin was right on the edge of a creek, with rain forest foliage all around so was quite dampish.

Location was great

We arrived early and had a 4 hour wait to get Villa. We visited Strahan and local sites for a couple hours. On return we parked near the big4 site. Unbeknown to us we were looking at our Villa from that park. Our disappointment was that for the nearly two hours that we waited No-one serviced the Villa so it was in fact available well before the allotted return time if 2.30. Whilst reception had our phone number we did not receive a call to confirm a earlier availability. As two elderly travellers we were somewhat frustrated at that.

We were given a free upgrade to one of the new lodges so can't comment on the older ones. The lodge was superb - comfortable, clean and well equipped. The on-site shop was reasonably well stocked to enable us to self cater for our short stay.

The lodge was a long way from the entrance to the site and so although the site was within easy walking distance of the cradle mountain park entrance the distance was doubled by the location of our accommodation. Because I'd hurt my foot prior to arrival that meant using the car to get to the park.

We would have preferred a stand alone cabin not a cabin joined by a verandah to two other cabins especially since we had made this booking months ahead. The cabin was clean and functional however the lounge was just terrible to sit on not good for your posture that's for sure. A nice location set in a forest type atmosphere.

location was and convenient. We can't comment on the staff because we were on the road a lot and didn't make contact with anyone.

The bathroom towel rail needs replacing or fixing cause it kept falling off. There's a little leak under the kitchen sink - it wasn't a problem because it's very slow dripping; but certainly needs attention.

Location was great - a very short drive to the town centre. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and we could park the car right at the front door. Although we didn’t see any platypus, the platypus stream out the back was cute - we could see the bubbles so we knew they were there!

There was no chopping board in the kitchen for preparing meals, but otherwise the kitchen facilities were great.

Loved the bushy setting with the stream running through the park. The Retreat Cabin was clean and the bed was comfortable. The location is near the beach area, and for us, near the end of the bike path. Plenty of towels supplied, with the staff, even though busy, coming to our cabin and offering fresh towels. I would definitely stay again.

Not to do with the park. However dining and shopping was limited in Strahan. The dining on offer expensive. The train was booked out when we arrived, so word of advice, if thinking about going on the Tourist train, book ahead if going during busy times.

Very clean cottage. We could park directly outside our cottage and that saved us the torture of moving the suitcases. We could cook in the kitchen and got our laundry done for a small fee. Jill at the reception was nice and helpful with our enquiries, board rental and kayak rental. Patrick's IGA and The Ship That Never Was are all a short drive away. Beautiful sunset at the esplanade.

We didn't get to see the platypus! :(

Everything was clean and seemingly well-maintained. Beds comfortable and shower worked well, except we were given a unit for disabled and it was awkward with no barrier to the shower to contain the floor becoming wet on route to other areas in the bathroom. Car access and parking was easy.

I felt check-in was a little impersonal as the reception was open when we arrived, but we had been told to use the locked box outside before arrival. Having been given these instructions we assumed reception hours had changed due to the public holiday. However, when approaching the receptionist in the open reception, we were still redirected to our keys in the box outside. I thought this was odd as we had told them we would be arriving during reception hours. However, it was great that we could access our unit quickly and conveniently, just a bit surprised by the impersonal reception in a touristy area.

Excellent location and bushland setting.

Not a good design at all to have “Balconies” immediately adjacent to another rooms front entry door. Also, in the interests of guest amenity, all balconies should be smoking free. That sounds a bit harsh, however, our personal experience was bad enough for us to consider requesting another room. Luckily the smoking neighbour moved on after 2 days.
