Castaway is a lovely set up. It is a short walk into town even closer to the pharmacy and supermarket and petrol station/garage. The owners are super welcoming and have a great property with all you could need. We stayed three nights to enjoy the main attractions of Strahan which is a very interesting town. The small outdoor theatre show of "The ship that never was". in the evenings is a must see. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the town and environs.

The property was great with no issues whatsoever.

The apartment was clean and neat. Paul, the owner, was very friendly and he offered terrific advice and insights about local sights, and what we could look for on our journey when we left for our next destination. The complimentary DVDs were a nice touch. The owners are also making gradual changes and upgrades to the apartments, so the rooms are very clearly well-maintained. The apartment was very close to the local IGA, and within very easy walking distance of the restaurants, walks and boat harbour at Strahan. I stayed elsewhere in Strahan the previous year, for a higher price, and these apartments were superior, with much better facilities, and offered much better value.

There was nothing we didn’t like that isn’t already in line for being fixed! The heater didn’t quite meet expectations, but that is one of the planned upgrades. A few things did not work (like one hot plate on the stove) but that will be fixed now that someone has informed the owners. I encourage other travellers to always speak to the owners/managers in person, so they can get direct feedback and keep working to improve, because in this particular case, Paul and his wife clearly valued the feedback.

We were two senior friends travelling around Tassie. The unit was two bedroom with lounge and kitchen, fully equipped. Easy access to local supermarket, pharmacy etc. The owners were on-site to assist with directions and recommendations. Laundry facilities were handy and our car was right beside the unit.. We felt warm and welcome. It was a short drive to Main st. and waterfront where we boarded our boat for the Gordon River Cruise.

I can't think of anything which we would require that was missing.

The photos online do not do the apartments justice. This is without a doubt the cleanest holiday rental apartment we’ve ever stayed at. Owners Paul and Sharon keep the place beautifully. The rooms are big and comfortable. Laundry facilities are fantastic and we were able to wash the car too. Paul was very kind and offered great advice on what was around locally. We arrived on Easter Sunday to a lovely basket of Easter eggs in our room- a very thoughtful detail. I would absolutely stay here again. Thanks Paul and Sharon.

So many things starting with warm, friendly welcome on arrival. Sharon and Paul, our hosts, ensured that our check-in was smooth and efficient, even allowing separate payment for the different accommodation types booked, for different members of our travelling group of 5 adults. They gave us information about the facilities available, in, and around, Strahan, and encouraged us to seek them out should we require any other. While settling into one of the cottages, it was discovered that one of the bedside lamps was not working. This was reported and almost immediately responded to, and rectified, by Paul. Loved the fact that there was a laundry WITH dryer. After more than a week on the road, 5 adults accumulate a bit of washing and the laundry certainly proved a very popular amenity amongst our group. The cost of $3 for each load, either machine or dryer, was more than reasonable but what was truly exceptional was the fact that the Owners/Managers give $1 from each $3 paid as a donation to the RFDS! And, no need to worry if you don’t have gold coins to spare. Both appliances are paid for using an honesty tin. So you can pop in notes and coins for what you think you’ll be doing OR pay at the end once you’ve finished with both machines. We did 3 loads, no dryer load, and put a $10 note in the tin, AND very happy to do so. We cooked a shared evening meal on the free communal BBQ and used the outdoor BBQ dining area as a place to eat lunch together. They were also aware that the reason for our stay in Strahan, and at their property, was to celebrate a significant birthday, for one of the group. On the evening before the big day, they presented the birthday boy with a bottle of Grant Burge sparkling white. AS South Australians we very much appreciated the significance of this label, a fine name in SA wine circles. And VERY nice it was too! Our hosts were always up for a chat, but also understood how to be unobtrusive when privacy was needed.

For the first time since I started writing reviews on accommodation, I can honestly say that there is nothing I could fault with Castaway Holiday Apartments, or the two amazing owners/managers.

We were in Strahan to celebrate a friend's 70th birthday and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. We were greeted at reception by the very friendly helpful hosts and then shown to our 2 bedroom apartments, which were spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, with parking right outside our front door. The bedrooms were a good size, the beds were comfy, the bathroom large with good pressure in the shower, and the toilet is in a separate room, which I really like. The kitchen is very well-equipped with a fridge, oven, stove top and all the utensils you'll need to cook a meal. It's about 7 mins to walk to Strahan harbour, where the Gordon River boat leaves from, and a 3-minute walk to a great IGA supermarket. We had a lovely time and were really touched when the hosts brought a bottle of champagne around to help us celebrate our friend's birthday. Thanks so much for a terrific stay. Highly recommended.

Apartment had parallel parking at front door for ease of unpacking Would have liked extra place to store suitcases choice of Kitchen utensils and crockery well thought out. Liked the positive instructions eg “ please wash and dry dishes before leaving unit THANKYOU “

Heating not sufficient for all rooms Had to close doors of rooms not being used ! Needed place to keep soap and shaver in shower recess

The property was in a quiet, private, convenient and easy to find location that worked very well for us. Cleanliness was of a high standard and the beds provided a comfortable rest after days spent outdoors exploring. Lovely owner who was very accommodating. Would definitely opt to stay again if I was to go for a return visit.

We have no dislikes in regard to this property.

The attention to cleanliness was outstanding. Considering the accommodations not a 5 star rated Motel they certainly presented it as one, it was beautifully clean and tidy with everything perfectly clean and well maintained. The owners were lovely and we would recommend the stay.

Nothing as within easy walking distance to the harbour, restaurants and supermarket for staples if needed.

There was nothing not to like about this property. Sharon and Paul are absolutely fabulous hosts. The 2 bedroom suites contain everything one would need for an extended stay, including all kitchen utensils, stove and pots and pans. The on-site laundry was really good with washing powder included. A really excellent touch is $1 donation on each load donated to Royal Flying Doctor. One other nice touch is a facility compendium being included in each apartment.
