We stayed at the Hotel König for two nights because we were attending a funeral at Simmering crematorium, about 10 minutes away by taxi. We echo the positive reviews about the cleanliness of the room, which was spotless and the friendliness of the reception staff one of whom, at least, spoke excellent English. The photos on Booking.com are a very good representation of the standard of the rooms. We were concerned that the room might be cold in December but in fact it was too warm until we turned down the radiator! Like many hotels in Austria, I think, there are no in-room tea or coffee making facilities. The wifi was fine. The restaurant-bar food selection for vegetarians is quite limited. The cold buffet breakfast was comprehensive but, like all hotel buffets, if you do not eat a big breakfast you may not consider it value for money. A comment on accessibility for future visitors...I think it is right that the hotel listing doesn't mention 'assessible rooms' but my wife, who can walk a little and uses a manual wheelchair, was able to manage with my help, as she does at home. It may be a consideration for some people with walking difficulties that there is a hill up from the hotel to the nearby U3 metro station. The front door of the hotel has steps but there is level access via the rear door in the car park. I think that an electric wheelchair user with a compact chair might manage in the hotel but a large chair user would find it very difficult. The lift and the doors accommodated my wife's manual chair easily enough but the room door was too heavy for her to manage alone. She also has weak hands and could not press the soap or shower gel dispensers strongly enough to squeeze any out for herself. Fortunately we had brought our own.

As we had to leave very early for the airport we booked the hotel's shuttle. This turned out to be a BMW X7, a large SUV and comfortable once in it. However, because its seats are high off the ground my wife could not manage the climb and I had to push her up to get in. Getting out was more difficult owing to the drop and she hurt her back sliding off the seat to the ground. For her, a normal taxi would have been a better choice. We live and learn.

Hotel is located in Simmering which is a suburb just outside of Vienna. The hotel itself can be accessed by the U3 line (Simmering), by the Rex8 train which is one stop away from Vienna HB or by several different buses. It is right in front of the Porsche Simmering car dealership. Several restaurants/fast food options are close by. Reception was very friendly. Breakfast in the morning was great. Rooms are clean, showers were large in our rooms. Very happy with our stay at Hotel Konig

Fire alarm was triggered around 11:30pm one night most likely due to a guest who was smoking. So it was not the fault of the Hotel..

We selected this hotel because: 1. It had good reviews 2. It offered parking (paid extra) 3. It had a breakfast (quite simple but sufficient) 4. It is close to a metro station At the arrival we were greeted by a very kind man at the reception. He offered a lot of extra information about summer fest and public transportation and how would he spend few days in Vienna. Very kind and helpful. The area appeared quite empty and remote but the metro station was really near and the travel time to the centre was very short. Fantastic location to explore Vienna. Great experience, I would happily stay there again.

Almost every time we were leaving the hotel or coming back there were some suspicious people at the tables at the back of the hotel. They didn't stop us but many of them were sitting there for ages and staring at us when we were passing. It seems many of them were guests. Some of the guests indeed were a bit loud and rude at the breakfast. I presume this perception may have been due to cultural differences. The map of the public transportation I received from hotel was outdated. Several metro lines are interrupted temporarily or permanently. First floor with no elevator.

Really comfortable room, delicious breakfast, good beers.

Parking :( I paid for the parking for 2 night - but the second day it was completely impossible to use the parking lot .... It was full of cars, "on the top of each other". I had no idea how to move out without breaking each other... I had to left the parking lot and I had to leave my car on a street nearby. This is not a big problem, but this fact (you cannot count on the parking in place) should be mentioned at checking.

On the whole I had a great stay. I had a one-night layover, and when I went to book a hotel, the options were few, so I was wondering how this place would be. The room met expectations, was quite clean, accessible by elevator, etc. the staff was courteous and breakfast quite good. You can get to it by using the train from the airport, and then the subway; it is fairly easy to find on departing the station. (Look for the Skoda dealer sign--the hotel is right across the street from that.) Both run frequently, and the subway is convenient for a visit to the city center.

It is outside the city center, right between that and the airport, so it is not the most convenient location. That said, it is still pretty manageable for a layover and/or visit.

The hotel is 3 minutes walk from U3 Simmering metro station. There is a Billa nearby, a cafe and also a train station (you can take the train to Bratislava from there). Very clean, no dust, warm. The room is well equipped (fridge, towels, paper napkins, soap, shampoo). There is also a desk with a comfortable chair for those who wish to work. Breakfast is available but we didn't try it. There is an elevator.

The staff needs English lessons. None of the receptionists spoke English well. One of them asked me what a spoon is...I had to Google and show him a picture. The fridge doesn't work if you take the electricity card out of the slot. On our second day, the cleaning personnel took it out so everything we had in the fridge got bad. What if we had medicines in there?!

We liked that the room was bigger than most places we stayed and it was pretty quiet. The unit looked like it has been renovated recently and the floors were heated which was nice. There was a sink and small bar fridge in the unit also.

The beds were comfortable enough however they were very small for an adult. I didn’t feel particularly comfortable because of that. It was probably one of the smallest beds I have slept in. But all in all it was a comfortable mattress.

A warm and polite welcome by the receptionist set the tone for our brief but pleasant stay here. The room (ungraded for free) was spotless and modern, with an excellent bathroom and very comfortable beds, including a good cot set-up ahead of time for our infant. Although we didn't try the restaurant located downstairs, it looked like it served well-priced, hearty food, and was evidently quite popular in the evenings. The location was very accessible, being only a single stop on the local train (and then a 4 minute walk) from Vienna's main train station. All in all, thoroughly recommended, and notably good value.

Perfect location. U-bahn is just a short walking distance from which you can reach the City Center in 12 minutes, even though there are 10 stations. Facilities in the room are quite enough for relaxation after a hard working day. Breakfast is that reach but everybody can find an appropriate food satisfying his/her requirements. I will stay here again!

Even though the room had a small kitchen, it was not equipped. There were no knives, spoons, plates, teapot, etc.
