Free breakfast when I checked out, and a welcome drink on arrival were great! Super friendly and helpful staff, very on top of cleaning and a great organization of tours, events and parties!

The room was tiny, with 12 beds/people staying in there. Beds stacked 3 high and almost no room to move around, a couple people standing at a time were all that could fit. Some lockers available, but none assigned to each bed/resident, so it was a free for all if you got one or one that was able to be locked.

I don’t normally stay in hostels, but chose Bamboo because I was concerned about safety in Rio, and - being a solo traveler - didn’t want to be cooped up in a hotel room every evening after dark. I wanted to be around people and have a nice bar on premises - and Bamboo didn’t disappoint. The hostel is in a very convenient, safe location, easy walk to the beach. I stayed in a private room, so can’t say much about the dorms, but my room had everything you might need. Bed was comfy, AC worked well. The best thing about this hostel, of course, is how welcoming the employees, volunteers and the guests are. It has a great vibe, and a lively bar, with games, etc. They do make sure to turn off the music at 11 pm, and it gets much quieter, so people can rest/sleep. They do free tours every day (didn’t get to take advantage but pics looked great). They also rage guests to various parties every night.

The only thing that wasn’t ideal was the shower - it dribbled water in all directions, so getting wet took some time 🙃

Very helpful and friendly staff. 24hr reception was great as we arrived quite early in the morning. We had a private room with a balcony and the hammock was so nice for relaxing in. Free shampoo and shower gel in the private bathroom - and a hairdryer! We were visited on our balcony each day by a family of marmosets - so cute! Nice communal outside breakfast/bar area. Staff asked if we wanted our room cleaned each day. Great location, walkable to Copacabana.

The sheets were a bit threadbare and the room was a little pricey. The pool is v small. Wasn’t super sociable when we were there but could have been the time of year.

I had a fantastic stay at this hostel! The cost was very affordable, which made it a great option for budget travelers. The staff (Pedro Theme, Ale, and Fabio) were incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It was also a pleasure to meet fellow travelers, as the guests were just as friendly and sociable. The location is perfect – it's very close to the city center, making it easy to explore all the local attractions. The neighborhood felt safe, which added to my peace of mind during my stay. Additionally, the hostel offered plenty of amenities, including free WiFi, which was a huge bonus. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend this hostel to others!

Great location, and amazing staff. Good bar on site with nice atmosphere and always events on, plus decent breakfast in the morning. We had some small problems with our initial room, and the staff were so helpful getting it sorted and switched. Room was a good size, and comfy bed. We even extended our stay because it was such a good spot. The best thing about the place though is absolutely the staff, they are brilliant. They are so lovely and friendly and fun, and always happy to help. They really make you feel at home!

Unfortunately the room we were given at first didn’t have two keys so couldn’t be locked safely if one of us was out, and also had no toilet door! But, the staff were very happy to help and switched us to a different room. It would have been nice to have had fresh towel changes every couple of days (we had a private room), but this wasn’t a big deal anyways!

The location was a 5-10 minute walk to Cocacabana Beach, whilst it is on a side street it’s 20metres from a main road, so I felt it was always a safe location. It is also 5 minute walk to the nearest metro which I used a few times. I stayed in my own room, it was clean and nice to come back to after a long day exploring the city. The staff were always really helpful, polite, and welcoming. Specific mentions to Pedro and David, who always answered my questions, and always assisted me. I would recommend Bamboo Rio Hostel.

One point I would make is that as people are here to have a good time, drink and meet new people it can be quite noisy from the rooms. This stops around 11, but people can be heard late at night in the common areas. I would recommend the hostel creates a strict rule that the common areas are closed from a certain time. To respect all guests.

I had a fantastic stay at Bamboo Rio Hostel! The staff were cheerful and incredibly helpful, always responsive and supportive with any questions. The beds were comfortable, and I stayed in a room with a private bathroom, which was a great convenience. I felt safe throughout my stay. I attended a few events and parties with other travelers and had some amazing nights. The 24-hour reception service was excellent. The kitchen area was spacious, the pool was small but refreshing, and the common bar area was a fun place to meet new friends and connect with others. Overall, I had a great time and will definitely come back to Bamboo Rio Hostel!

Staff was really nice, helpful and friendly. Near the beach and most important places to visit. Offers different kind of great activities for everyone.

The breakfast cost 15 reais (3 dolars) just for coffee and sandwich. It was tasty but it could be better. Some facilities could be renovated.

The staff were really great. Very friendly and helpful and really took the time to get to know you. I can’t remember everyone’s names but Rob was great and Frankie was hilarious, even though we couldn’t communicate that much because I don’t speak Portuguese. They offered free tours every morning and evening. The tours are really varied and a great way to meet people. I stayed in the female dorm and I think this was one of the best dorms as I saw some of the other rooms have triple bunks. The breakfast was also pretty good value.

As with most hostels, they could do with a few more showers, and pans in the kitchen. And there are only 4 hobs in the kitchen. But I stayed over a week and never had to wait for a shower or to use the kitchen.

The staff it's amazing. Such a good vibe. Carol received me with such a natural welcome nature, made me feel at home. Franklin was such a nice and welcoming person, receive me with understanding and open arms, also made me feel at home. Other staff were also kind and funny it was like I knew them from before. The manager Dalia was so sensitive and understanding when I had a issue to work with her, I could see how she it's a good manager, managing staff and treating guests with kindness, humanity and high standards.The hostel serves an amazing lunch for such a fair price! I loved it.

Like some other hostels you have to pay for blankets. It was a bit noisy as an exciting hostel usually it's. But it was lovely. If your are sensitive to sound and wake up late, the ilha grande room have the window right towards the breakfast place. The bunked bed does a little bit of noise when getting up or down but that's it.
