Nice facilities, spacious rooms and plenty of social activities organised (also free)

Lunch was overpriced and when checking in there was an issue with our room (can happen, not a problem) but instead of our double private we were offered a replacement room with 3 bunk beds. We requested a similar type of room, which was not available then we were offered a private room in a different neighbourhood and then there was another double private available. This was a bit strange and not the most welcoming

I liked that it was in a central location close to many tourists attractions. Despite being in Lapa, I felt super safe knowing there is a 24-hour security guard and reception staff to help me. I found the reception staff to be extremely helpful in helping me navigate through Rio! The washrooms and showers were also clean and fully functional! I also appreciate the privacy curtains in the dorms.

The price is much higher than the average hostel. Also, there should be more reception staff during check-in hours because the lines were massive.

The hostel had a great ambience, in a lovely old building. The room was good. Location was perfect, just round the corner from the Seralon steps and close to the tram stop to Santa Teresa. We found a good vegan restaurant just nearby. This is definitely a party area, with lots of people enjoying the music and partying.

We used the kitchen, but the facilities were not very good. There was only one or two knives, forks, not many plates and a few saucepans. Also, it was not very clean. Most people seemed to have breakfast in the on-site cafe though.

I love staying in hostels for a quick sleep. I was just there in Selina for one night and I think it would be worth to stay more and maybe enjoy the young and friendly atmosphere. I did not even go the rooftop, that makes a good reason to go back. I needed to be in a short distance from the airport and it was really nice!

Maybe I did not pay attention on the check in but I was a bit in a hurry in the morning and the only options for breakfast were going to be ready just 30 minutes after my request. For a hotel that is in a business area, maybe to have more options for breakfast would be better. I would also suggest a drop the key check out as I was in the dorm with no extra costs on my stay.

I really enjoyed my stay at Selina Lapa. The room was spacious, clean, great shower, lovely big comfortable bed, great AC, place to charge phone/laptop with USB cable only and more. On top of that the price was great, staff are kind and courteous, and they even have security 24/7. I love that they have a rooftop bar and that they offer a free caipirinha daily for guests. :D I will definitely be coming back soon! :) Oh and it's just around the corner from the famous Escadaria Selarón Steps. ^_^

Great design, beautiful coffee zone and entrance lobby (there is a security guard all the time). There is a kitchen for guests (however with very little equipment) and welcome caipiriña at 7pm. Nice and clean rooms, comfortable bed. Very good location for sightseeing. We recommend Moqueca and Feijoada in nearby restaurante Cortiço Carioca!

You cannot adjust AC so you either turn it off and suffocate from heat, or turn it on and freeze under the very thin sheet. So the nights were not comfortable as I had to wake up several times. There is a lot of homeless people in the neighborhood.

All services are great and the bar upstairs has a marvellous view of the famous "Arcos da Lapa". You can enjoy your stay relaxing at the hotel, but also it's location makes it a great place to explore the city from - helping you slowly but surely in getting into the Rio mentality.

The area is a bit shady at night, but also so culturally vivid! So just leave your stuff at the hotel, go out with a few reais (and maybe your credit card in a hidden pouch) and you're ready to go. It's probably the safest way to explore this area and selina's location makes it very convenient.

The location is great, it's in the middle of Lapa near all the bars and parties, few steps from escada Selaron, also near the centro where you can find manys attractions and good food and like 25 min from copacabana by the metro or uber, the facilities are nice, well maintained. Quiet at night and comfortable beds so you can get a good night sleep. The overall experince is excellent. I Would visit again.

They should pay more attention to the cleaness of the rooms, the bed side stand was dirty in both of the rooms where i stayed. The bathroom inside our room and the ones in the common areas did not have soup for all the period i have stayed there (3 days) even after pointing this out to the staff. The staff could use a bit more training to get to the good standard of other selina's locations.

Loved Debora at the front desk, not only is she friendly, she’s also attentive even during people checking in and out en masse all day every day. All the other staff are great too, most understood basic English but would definitely help if you speak Spanish or Portuguese

At times the food could be a little on the pricer side in Rio even though the dishes are usually flavourful, the team are amazing with food and service, but occasionally the service staff are serving a lot of people so there is usually a semi long wait for food and service.

For price , it was excellent.Security guard 24 hours, food and drinks are decently price, entertainment almost very night, good air con and shops just outside. The shared kitchen is super useful,They also have activities you can book through the hotel.

The room could be cleaner. 1st look it ok but the corners around the bed and furniture are filthy
