Good location - close to subway and areas of interest within walking distance. Large room with lots of amenities - hairdryer, toothbrush kits, shampoo/shower gel, even laundry detergent. Hot water, clean towels, air-con, and water replaced daily. Decent sound-proofing in the rooms, which is so hard to find anywhere nowadays. Nice bar / lounge area - lots of space and plenty on the menu and in the bar. Coffee is delicious! Staff were very helpful, friendly, and accommodating.

The floor in my room needed a hoover / broom in the three nights I stayed - this would have been appreciated.

Friendly and informative staff. Excellent coffee and a wide ranging menu at the cafe. Pool table and table tennis table; a terrace to relax on. On a side street but not too far from most places of interest. Some individual rooms but mainly small dorms. Very mixed international and local guests. All facilities; laundry machines and cafe, left luggage, valuable lockers at reception. Cheap drinks from the cafe fridges.

Somewhat of a haul from Kunming Sth station(from laos) but not far from the main station. The airport is a bit of a haul and is large and security conscious. No stores and restaurants in immediate vicinity. I got lost around the area twice, but a 10Yuan taxi got me to the hostel.

it is a hostel, with dormitory multioccupancy rooms and lockers. I had a more conventional Hotel style room with ensuite. The internet seemed strong ( remember this is China and not all is available). So theres plenty of people to talk to, young and old, students and travellers. Good asian and western food, not Gourmet,and a good bar. The hours of operation take a bit of getting used to. Not that far from transport options and shopping. In a pocket of older city buildings. The staff are helpful and obliging.

Housekeeping is not hotel standard. Its a hostel after all. There is a sort of self service laundry. Some of the floors are getting spongy. Some of the staff have limited english, they warn you of this, they mean it.

Nice private room, queen bed. A/C, shower, etc. Very kind, helpful staff who speak English (and some other languages) well. Food available at hostel was good, nice coffee shop / bar as well. I'd take this any day over a 'normal' hotel. Will stay here next visit to KMG.

The A/C had some dripping water that took a few tries to fix, but no real hassle. One night there was a bit of a shouting match (no blows thrown) around the pool table between two Chinese men. It was handled well and no police called. Actually, a bit of an interesting insight to see how it unfolded and was handled.

They had everything we needed and more, washing machine, cafe and restaurant, table tennis, billiards. They also had different things on you could join in with, like a walk, pool night, explore the markets nearby (would recommend checking them out on your own or with the hostel). The place has a great friendly and relaxed atmosphere. And there's a couple roaming cats that are good cuddle buddies in the cafe. They also have a great drinks menu (iced coffees and teas, fancy delicious things). I'd stay here again if I return to Kunming 😊

The dryer is useless! Although the staff were so helpful with us, they put it on extra time for us for free and told us it was very inefficient, but we left our washing too late in our stay. Ended up finishing it air-drying overnight and it was fine.

A wonderful spacious room in a very welcoming place. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They can help you with all kinds of questions, about food and phone cards etc The cafe is very homely and has great food. The espressos are excellent. The neighbourhood is perfect. With a farmer's market and many smaller restaurants. I can't wait to come back.

The bedrooms are smoke free but there is quite a bit of smoking on the premises. It is mostly open air but I am not a fan.

Everything! This is the best place we’ve stayed in China and the perfect place for international travellers - the staff are great, have decent English, location is perfect near lots of the spots to see in Kunming (local markets, the trendy and developed area etc) plus its close to metro line if you want to go elsewhere. The breakfast is decent and rooms are really comfortable and nice.

The common area/restaurant isn’t heated so can be a bit cold (we stayed in January) but given heating isn’t that common in China that’s certainly no downer.

the hostel is great, about 10 minutes walking from the metro station and close to the train station, it is well connected to get to the airport. It is close to the food street and is very clean and organized. I was also able to leave my backpack at the hostel for 3rmd a day while traveling through other cities in Yunnan, and that was great. In particular, I would like to thank the reception team who were very kind to me and helped me with everything I needed. thank you very much!

The rooms were great, and great value. The social areas of the hostel were excellent. The 8 ball table and table tennis table were fun to use and meet new people. There were several different areas in the dining section where you could hide away or join others as you pleased. There were interesting markets nearby and also an outdoor gym. The people in the kitchen cooked nice meals that were good value.

no kitchen facilities (but eating out on the markets is very reasonable) - wifi on the fourth floor was quite unstable - working from rooftop on 3rd or on a bench on 2nd floor was better
