With a 15 minute drive distance from San Jose airport, this is a great place to be! I can't overestimate how much I liked Pibi Boreal, and the staff. The owners are super nice, helpful, caring and would serve with any information you might need. Talking to both of them is an extra treat as they know surroundings very well. This is a very intimate hotel with 5 rooms only, a large garden to walk around, thousands of butterflies and birds, as well as an unobscured view of the rainforest, which basically comes into your place. Breakfast is served to your room, and you can have it sitting on the terrace, watching the nature around you. Rooms are of a decent size, I really liked a bathroom. It is very clean. But first and most of all - the owners make this place so special! Thank you!

An absolutely delightful place to stay in an oasis of calm and yet just 20 minutes from the airport. We wish we had stayed more than one night. The room was lovely and comfortable, with a little terrace to sit outside. The family owners are charming and so helpful. They bring a delicious continental breakfast to your room at a pre arranged time, and your room rate also includes a transfer to or from the airport. Wonderful. Thank you for a lovely last night in Costa Rica. (We visited the nearby Botanic garden El Arca which has a fantastic restaurant serving a 5 course tasting menu made with produce from the garden and locally for under US$35 per person, including admission to the gardens. Uber works well here)

The large windows overlooking the deck and view of lush jungle trees and lovely garden flowers was a great way to start our trip. So close to airport for our quick night stay yet almost no plane noise while we were there. Much better than the chain box hotel we stayed last time. Yummy breakfast of fruits and breads with jam and butter on our private deck. The family run place was very kind and friendly. They provided transportation to their hotel from airport.

Only since recent heavy rains the room seemed a little damp but nothing wrong and not a problem. Water in shower not very warm but wasn’t an issue. Really it was a lovely place run by a great family.

The location of the hotel was excellent, being relatively close to San Jose and the airport, but also a good base to tour from. The rooms were elevated with spectacular views over forest, and we had breakfast on the balcony accompanied by humming birds in the adjacent bushes. The hotel grounds included a short trail, which was also stunning. The family that owned the hotel were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They organised a driver for us to undertake specific tours and helped us with a number of other matters during our stay.

Lovely location and very clean and comfortable furnishings. The balcony was fabulous and the view over the trees really puts you in nature straight away. We weren't in the hotel for very long, arriving early evening and departing at 6am the next morning - they had kindly prepared a breakfast bag to take with us to the airport, which was a lovely touch.

Tricky, because there were some teeny ants coming through the small gap at the side of the door and they decided to have a party with some cake we had brought with us, so we missed our cake - having said that, they were tiny, and who wouldn't enjoy strawberry sponge cake? And it is the forest, after all 🙂

This was the perfect place to stay on our first night in Costa Rica. We were looking for a place with transportation from the airport, and Mathieu was very easy to coordinate with for this. The room was spacious and nicely appointed, we loved sleeping with the fresh air and waking up to the sounds of the birds and insects. We also loved relaxing on the private porch in the morning, and even saw a toucan fly by just as we were sitting down to eat! Breakfast was great as well, we are a family of 4 and everyone was happy. Would love to stay here again!

Nothing - it was really great for us!

Mathieu was an excellent communicator from the time we booked our stay. He helped us with rental car questions, and even went above and beyond to pick us up at the airport with a late flight and get to our car the next day. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and we slept with the screen door so we could hear the sounds of the jungle outside. The balcony is beautiful, and you can walk on the grounds down to the river. It was our intro to the Costa Rican flora. :) Breakfast was delicious and delivered to our door. Water was hot and the bathroom was clean. A great experience at this wonderful family run hotel!

Nothing, we had a great stay.

Staff really looks out for you. It's a small operation, family run. Location is nice being out of the city. We saw some cool birds and a three toed sloth on our walk around the grounds .

The location is remote if you don't have a car, no restaurants, bus line, or stores nearby so you need a taxi or Uber if you need to go somewhere. Mathieu offered you a ride into town on his way. But the location was what made it attractive to us.

Perfect place to stay if you don't need or want to go into San Jose after arriving. It's just a 15 minute drive or so from the airport, but you already feel you're in the Costa Rican jungle thanks to the nice garden they have. Staff is super friendly accomodating and easy-going. Rooms are good, clean, nice view over the green garden. Good communication with the hotel before our stay regarding payment (my fault!) which was sorted super quick and without issues.

The big gate that gives access to the property hides the entire hotel, so you may drive past it at first.

Perfect spot for your first or last night before/after flight , make sure to arrange transport with Mathieu if you don’t have a car right away - we arrived after 8pm - so arranged to have rental car brought to us the next morning - lovely relaxing quiet stay with a nice balcony and views - away form the city, with a breakfast of fresh fruits and breads !! Great start to our 2 weeks in Costa Rica 🇨🇷
