Winston and the staff are exceptionally helpful from arranging airport transfers to accommodating early breakfast for our morning flight. Super helpful and patient with helping me improve my Spanish! =) The rooms are comfortable, clean, and quiet (keep in mind, there is a train that runs near the property, but only during the day). There is also a roof-top balcony where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city and mountains around you! The hotel is located in an upper-middle class area of town within perfect walking distance of a cluster of very modern and diverse restaurants (Barrio Escalante). Also perfect base to explore the rest of the central city sites as a walking tour. Breakfast - what can I say?! Fresh fruit, fresh bread, eggs, and Costa Rican coffee... best start to each day in San Jose!

My partner and I were here for a week for a conference and for tourism. Everyone at Hotel Casa 69 was helpful and generous with their time. Truly excellent service. The location in itself is fantastic, and the hotel is a secluded oasis in an otherwise bustling city while still being a 10-15min walk from all touristy landmarks (the National Theatre, Museums, etc.) and 2 min from the nightlife (Barrio Escalante) We loved our stay and recommend it to all our friends.

The room was cute and comfortable, with a great balcony on the roof and an lovely atrium where you could enjoy breakfast. Winston was incredibly helpful and had great recommendations for safe places to visit and cool things to do in San Jose. The location was great - easy walk to the city center and an even easier walk to great bars, restaurants and night life. Breakfast was great, and we met a lot of like-minded fellow travelers while we were there! The staff helped to arrange transportation for us, which was incredibly helpful!

There's no air conditioning in the room, which was alarming at first but it cooled off so much at night that it really wasn't needed. The area seemed a little questionable at first, but once you get your bearings, it really is a great location.

The breakfast is homemade and delivered to your table - which is surrounded by trees and plants in a scenic garden with a coy pond. The rooftop was my favorite part, chairs to tan, a table to eat, and a beautiful view of the city. They also washed, dried, and folded our laundry in 2 hours for $10. The location is in great walking distance to many restaurants and stores. Will be back.

It is located in a busy part of san jose, so it can get a little noisy at night (especially if you keep the windows open like we did). We played fan noises on our phone and it drowned the cars out.

The staff was excellent! They were polite and would help in any way possible. It is a small hotel with an intimate atmosphere. Breakfast was a nice perk as they make it to order. I can't say enough about the manager, Winston. He is a great guy who speaks fluent English and was always ready to help us. If it is your first time in San Jose, the hotel is a great base to explore from. As I said , Winston and the staff made the difference. Clean, safe, and comfortable.

The bathrooms, while clean, are a bit rustic. .they could use updating. But I'm really knitpicking here. Enjoy your stay!

The two hosts were absolutely friendly and provided valuable information for our stay in San Jose and were also very helpful in organising transport (to the airport and within the city). There were three options to choose from for breakfast, which were good and really plentiful. The accommodation is a good starting point for exploring the city centre, which can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes. The accommodation is quite simply furnished, but offers everything you need for a stay. From the roof terrace you have a great view of the surrounding area. We stayed there a total of three times during our trip to Costa Rica and were given a very warm welcome each time. We can definitely recommend staying there.

The fridge didn't cool very well (the temperature remained at around 12-14 degrees Celsius). This was not ideal for cooling medicines. However, we were able to find a solution with crushed ice, which we got from the hosts.

Breakfast was fantastic! The staff personally served us a delicious breakfast in a beautiful setting. Kirk (an owner) was very friendly and helpful. He gave us lots of recommendations on where to go, how to stay safe in the city, etc. Our stay was very comfortable and we would definitely stay at Casa 69 again. It was located within an easy walking distance to the Jade Museum, theater and downtown area.

Walking to downtown, there are rough sidewalks, trash and homeless. We knew to be careful (don't wear fancy jewelry, etc). We were fine and we would do it again.

We only stayed one night after our flight, but loved the colourful decor and the comfortable, clean room. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming and breakfast was delicious. We arranged via the hotel to have someone collect us from the airport, and drive us to Manuel Antonio the next day. The driver, Walter, was so lovely and made the journey one of the most memorable parts of our holiday, due to the fascinating stops on the way and his enthusiasm for sharing info about his country with us. After we'd left, we discovered that my daughter had left her treasured toy behind, and the hotel manager Winston went above and beyond to reunite us with it. We highly recommend Hotel Casa 69, mainly because of the excellent staff.

Everything was great, no complaints at all. The only thing that it would have been good to have clarification on was whether it was ok to flush toilet paper! Everywhere else we went it wasn't allowed, so it would have been good to know either way.

The staff were absolutely lovely, the breakfast was really good. It was a good location for walking into town, only about 10 minutes to the national museum. There is a great takeaway beside the hotel. And a courtyard of food places about a ten minute walk.

The hotel is beside a train line and the trains start very early and are very loud, sounding the horn at each junction. They started about 4.30 each morning. They didn't go on late so getting to sleep isn't an issue but you will be woken early.

Amazing staff who go over and above to make sure you're comfortable and have what you need. We had to take a very early shuttle the day of our departure and the staff made sure we not only had breakfast but made sure we had some delicious fruit to go. Also, the bananas that are always available on the side table are a lovely touch. Location was amazing as it is just far enough away from the center that downtown is easy to walk to but you don't encounter the noise of the city center.

While it didn't bother me, there is a train that runs near the hotel which might bothers other. But it's infrequent.
