- Quirky hotel that is bigger than appears in the photos & from outside - Very helpful & friendly staff - Great location - 5 minute walk to the tourist market & 15 minutes to the central market (closed on Sundays!) - Credit Union less than 100m away that changes money CRC to / from USD - New modern bathroom & comfortable room

- Breakfast didn’t seem ready 30 minutes after the opening time. items were appearing as I was in the breakfast room, which at first was cereal, bread & papaya. Later came pineapple, scrambled eggs, cheese. Not ideal if you’re in a rush.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond to address my issues. The property and rooms were well maintained. The breakfast was certainly adequate and the room they served it in was very nice. It is within walking distance to most all restaurants and cultural spots downtown.

This is probably a US thing but be aware, there is no A/C. Also, when I arrived and checked into my room, the room was very small and had no window to the outside. Therefore it was very stuffy, especially with no A/C. They had a fan but it did little to help. The next morning I said something about moving rooms and they moved me to a much more spacious room with 10 ft ceilings and a window you could open to the outside. Even the bathroom was much larger and more modern. I would recommend that you make sure you specify that you want a room with an outside window and 10 ft ceilings.

Breakfast excellent; staff very helpful when my phone wouldn't work and needed to coordinate travel to dentist, let me use their front desk phone for calls from dentist and my husband in US; put ice pack in fridge for my teeth after dental surgery because no fridge in room; let me cancel rest of stay when I moved to closer to dentist; staff very kind; arranged pick up and transport from airport to hotel - driver Julio very helpful and polite and pointed out sights along the way.

Phone in room didn't work; no refrigerator for ice pack for face and storage of soft foods needed after dental surgery.

Great architecture, very clean. Fantastic interior design that takes you back in time. I felt like I was in "Under the Volcano". The price was surprisingly low 🔅

For a coffee producing country the coffee at breakfast was incredibly bad. The front porch is great, especially in the rain, but $ US 5.00 for a can of local beer 🍺 is a rip-off. But so is all of Costa Rica. By far the most expensive country in Latin America. They take the term "Switzerland of Latin America" quite literally.

They had a simple but tasty breakfast downstairs and the building itself was so pretty. I didn't stay very long (just one night) but I ended up bringing back food and hanging out for a little bit in the open spaces. It was also close to downtown, so it was nice to walk around to see the park, museums, and stores and not really need a car. I traveled by myself but the area was safe enough for me to feel comfortable being out, and they do lock up the lobby later at night so that only people staying there can get in. Also, I really appreciated a nice hot shower ^^

Not a big deal for me personally, but the rooms (or at least mine) are cooled with an electric fan plugged into the wall, not central AC. Might be something to be aware of for more picky travelers/kids or something especially during hot months.

This was a quick one-night stop over after getting in late to SJO. I had a bus out to Puerto Viejo in the AM, so just needed a comfy, safe place to rest before another early morning. Fluer De Lys was great with helping to book a taxi for my late night airport arrival, and the taxi driver was super kind & helpful with getting me settled at the hotel. The breakfast bar in the morning was also wonderful to not have to worry about venturing out for food before catching the bus.

This spot is really close to the train tracks and holy bananas is it LOUD. However, I am definitely on the light-sleeper end of the spectrum, so for someone who isn't bothered by city noises, it probably wouldn't be a problem.

Beautiful old building with a lovely breakfast room with dark wood. Breakfast was abundant and kept me going until dinner. Reception staff extremely helpful in organising pick up from airport, early check in and taxis. Room was large, lovely hot shower and appreciated the filter coffee machine in the room. Staff work hard keeping everything spotless. Excellent location for visiting National Museum, National Theatre and a supermarket only a few 100m away. Ideal location

Location is ideal everything is on your doorstep. As a solo female traveller I felt quite safe in the area. Staff were lovely and helpful. Room was comfortable and spacious, great showers and good complimentary breakfast. I liked the style of the hotel.

Yes there is noise from the trains and some other guests were loud but I use earplugs so no problem for me. Restaurant doesn’t appear to be open in evenings and lacks a proper bar/somewhere to relax.

I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious breakfast offered at the accommodation. The room itself was immaculate, displaying a modern aesthetic and boasting a balcony that provided a breathtaking view of both the cityscape and the majestic mountains in the distance. The staff members were not only fluent in English, but also incredibly courteous and friendly, making you feel warmly welcomed and cared for, almost like a member of their own family. The facilities provided were top-notch cleaning up room every day, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay throughout my visit.

While the room I stayed in was fantastic in many aspects, it did not include some specific amenities such as a microwave, electric teapot, and a fridge. Despite this minor inconvenience, I found everything else about the room to be exceptional.

Location, kind personnel, pretty decent value for money. I thought the interior of the hotel was very cute. My room was a tad small with outdated furniture but clean and fine for me. Generally things were as expected

For me these weren't huge problems but: a bit noisy (from the trains and just not great insulation in general). Furniture in my room was outdated. Breakfast was pretty good, but limited options. (The standard traditional breakfast with tea/Coffee/orange juice)
