The hotel is very well located for access to the jetty to get to Corcovado and also for the town. The hotel/rooms are colourful, fun and just make you smile. The staff are great and the vibe is happy, relaxed and informal. We were upgraded to a room with a waterfront view from the porch and it was beautiful. Would definitely recommend.

Great spot in the city right on the water as well. Really appreciated the free use of kayaks and bikes plus the coffee machine and fridge in room were much appreciated. The shared patio with kitchen utensils, sink, gas barbecue and wonderful seating were also very nice indeed. Annie really helped us out with a detailed map and explanation upon arrival. John was also very helpful with the in room safe and went beyond taking a bunch of us out gratis for a boat ride and some kind of paddle boarding. What a blast.

Kids the first day really liked to scream while in or around the pool, but maybe I’m just an old crank?Eventually they left or stopped screaming and the pool was a very nice temperature.

We loved this place the moment we saw it — funky tropical character, art everywhere, lots of amenities, super friendly staff & a great location right on the waterfront! Pretty much the antithesis of a sterile modern hotel. Lots of common areas to enjoy — pool, deck, gardens — plus free bikes & kayaks to use. Short walk to town & restaurants & very convenient to the pier where boats to Corcovado depart. Location was quiet & felt safe. Annie was very helpful, gave us maps to everything & stored my husband’s 12’ longboard for him in their bodega. We would love to come back & stay here again!

We booked the most basic room, & while it was clean & well-equipped with amenities like coffeemaker, dishes, & mini fridge, it was extremely small for 2 people in their 70’s. My husband called it a “dorm room”. Double bed pushed against the wall, so a tight squeeze for 2 people to get in & out of it, & barely any room to walk around it. No chairs. We looked longingly at the rooms that faced the pool or waterfront, some of which have patios with seating. If you’re a solo traveler on a tight budget, by all means take the basic room & you’ll be fine. But we regret not asking for an upgrade as the price difference is only $30-40 per night & we would have been much more comfortable.

I stayed at Cabinas Jimenez for 3 nights in total on my way there and back from Corcovado National Park. The first thing that has to be mentioned is Anne at the front desk who greets you like you are coming home, so warm and friendly and welcomes you and goes out of her way to help and ensure you are comfortable. I needed to do my laundry and she bent over backwards to help me get it sorted. I could also leave my big backpack at the hotel during my overnight trip to the national park which was great. I was offered a free room upgrade to the sea view room which has a beautiful big balcony overlooking the bay, and I watched the most stunning sunrises from there. There is amazing fresh Costa Rican ground coffee and a coffee machine in each room which is a huge bonus. Rooms are beautifully decorated, and very comfortable beds. Onsite pool a nice treat to cool down, and the free kayaks and bikes are great, I took the kayaks out for a paddle through the mangroves one afternoon. Anne provides a very helpful map of the town with restaurant recommendations and useful tips. Would absolutely recommend staying here, thank you!

Very charming place that exceeded out expectations. We were greeted warmly by Ann who was super friendly and knowledgable. The entire place feels homey and it is obvious that someone put a lot of love and attention to details into this place. We used their free kayaks and bikes. All of the free equipment was in great shape and there were many to chose from. Our room was very clean, spacious, and had lot of little personal touches. We were also given a nicer room that what we paid for without an additional charge. Thank you for the wonderful experience and we will be back for sure!

We booked this due to the location, on the waterfront but also next to the town and it was perfect. We were in Room 15, which we would highly recommend as the views are incredible (not all of the rooms have views of the water). We spent hours sitting on the deck watching the wildlife. Scarlet Macaws came to eat at an Almond tree right by the deck and the sound of the birds in the early morning is fantastic. Gabby and all of the staff are really friendly, and gave us information on local places to eat, shop, walk, visit etc. Nothing was too much trouble for them which really enhanced our stay. This is not a fancy hotel, the rooms are very basic but that was exactly what we were looking for and we would definitely stay here again if we ever returned to Puerto Jimenez.

Shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom would have been nice. Every other place we have stayed in did provide these and it was handy not to have to carry our own supply as we were backpacking.

Very close to the port, which allowed us to easily get to Corcovado in the early morning. There was no problem to leave our luggage when we left to Corcovado for one night. There are free bikes and kayaks that we were able to use. That was a big plus. The pool is very small, but perfectly enough to spend a few minutes and cool down during a hot and humid day. The stuff was very helpful and there are manu restaurants nearby.

The hotel/rooms could use a bit of renovations - all things seemed very old. Puerto Jimenez is a very hot and humid place and the rooms don't really protect from that - it was very hot at night and the fans were not enough.

The view from our room was very nice, the beach started right under our balcony! We enjoyed cooking on the balcony, looking at the ocean. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, comfortable and clean. We loved sea kayaking (included!) and, although the pool is small according to canadian standards, it was a nice addition to our stay. The location is wonderful, close to little convenience stores and about a 10 minute walk to nice oceanfront restaurants.

Hotel is easy to find in an excellent location right on the shore and within walking distance to restaurants and stores. Upon check in we were greeted with friendly and prompt service and received an upgrade to our room at no additional charge. The room fit our family of 5 with a king bed, and bunk bed. There was a fridge and microwave. We also had a/c, fans, warm water and excellent wifi reception throughout the facility. The shore was within steps and we had a wonderful time kayaking through the mangroves and felt safe doing it despite having never done it before. We also biked through town so we could see everything. Both kayaks and bikes were free to hotel guests! All workers were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We were given suggestions of places to go and things to see with a map and verbal directions. It was a beautiful location and I would definitely stay again. Staff is bilingual (English/Spanish).

We only made time for one day, definitely will stay longer next time!

We liked the location and the view from our balcony, wonderful. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean and with warm water. We were bit worried about the reviews saying it was loud but it was not at all! Maybe the club was closed, but anyhow there wasn’t any loud music. Indeed the parrots made a or of noise in the morning but for us it was a great experience and a plus. The owner adopted some dogs that were absolutely sweet. “Lucky” accompanied us several times for walks to the beach and to cafes. What a star! There are free bikes and kayaks and we made use of both. Yes, the bikes are not new but this is understandable in this climate. It was nice to bike around and we saw many animals while doing so. You can also spot Scarlet Macaws on the trees next to the hotel. We saw them closer than at any park we visited.

The staff at the reception could coordinate a bit better as sometimes they conflicting information but nothing serious. It’s a nice property.
