I cannot say enough good about Las Caletas! Daniel was an amazing host with fantastic tips on what to do and making sure we were prepared for our planned adventures. We stayed in one of the tents, which was quite comfy. I was worried about there not being AC, but everything cooled off at night and the ocean breeze and fan made it perfect. The food here was also phenomenal. We were excited for every dinner. Both my partner and myself have dietary restrictions (celiac and vegetarian) and Las Caletas was incredibly accommodating and would make special dishes for us if needed. I highly recommend staying here!!!

The location; staff; and food were all the best we have ever had. It felt like a big family with Myra looking after us all. The wildlife comes to you in this remote location, we even saw whales from the restaurant. It's a real treat to be served good quality food every day and as we all ate the evening meal together there was a good atmosphere and you get to know the other guests. We stayed for 10 nights and could have stayed longer, the hardest place to leave. Thank you Myra and the team for an experience we'll never forget. Paul and Jane

Fantastic atmosphere, personel, location, restaurant - We loved everything untill the owner behaved very badly when there was a paying issue the last night.

When we were to pay we had different perspectives on the agreed price. We tried to have a dialogue with the owner to figure put the problem, but the owner just yelled at us in the phone and told us, that is was our problem and that we ourself should figure it out with booking.com. Luckily the owner’s son were there and was much more polite and helped us. However, the next morning the personel were unpolite and we had to ask the personel to serve breakfast for all of us - and in that way the last 12 hours changed our overall perspective of the place.

Absolutely nothing. It’s rare to find a place that ticks all the boxes, but Las Caletas managed to do just that. From the start of our stay to our reluctant departure, we struggled to find any aspect that did not meet or exceed our expectations.

Absolutely stunning location right in the rain forest with only the sound of birds and animals. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was delightful. We enjoyed the comfortable chairs and hammock. Everything was taken care of. From the staff carrying our luggage up to the room (which was much appreciated in the heat), lovely food, early breakfast if you are on a trip, drinks available to help yourself (with an honesty book). Jolanda was very responsive with the communications and made lots of suggestions for the trips and arranged taxi boats for us. It all went very smoothly. It is a very peaceful place which we loved. We loved watching the birds, parrots, toucans, hummingbirds, monkeys, crabs, fireflies and even a sloth. Thank you Jolanda, Julio and Myra for everything...we just wished we could have stayed longer! Especially appreciated the honeymoon message and gift in our room. thank you x

This was the perfect lodge for someone like me who enjoys being immersed in beautiful nature. Las Caletas was recommended to me by a friend, and I am so glad I booked it. The staff was very friendly and very helpful with ensuring we enjoyed everything about our stay. Communication was great - I had some questions before I arrived in Drake Bay, and the staff always answered my emails very quickly. The breakfast and dinner meals were incredible, fresh and delicious. The chef did an amazing job creating beautiful meals. The property was beautiful, immaculate and well-maintained by the staff. There was an awesome view of the ocean. The dining room was made of beautiful wood, and attention was paid to every detail, even down to hand-painted wood keychains for the bathrooms. Every morning during breakfast, it seemed there was some new “entertainment” – a pair of scarlet macaws flying by, green parrots in a tree, hummingbirds, an iguana, a sloth! There was always something fun to watch. I booked the tent accommodation. The beds and the seating area were very comfortable. The staff did a great job of keeping our tent and bathroom clean after we returned from many sandy days snorkeling or touring Corcovado National Park. There were always fresh towels for the shower and beach, and a new sheet for the bed every day. Las Caletas seems to attract other nature lovers and we met quite a few friendly people from around the world who were also staying there, and they helped point out animals in the trees. Las Caletas is located right on the Drake Trail, and many of the days we walked to the town (1 hour walk) or other small, secluded beaches (only 10 mins away). Besides tours to Cano Island and Corcovado National Park, there are so many cool things to see just sitting on the beach or walking on the Drake Trail. Overall, I had an amazing stay here and I want to return to Las Caletas in the future!

Las Caletas is a true gem. A small place with huge views and lots of adventures - from the tours you can take to Cano Island and Corcovado to the beaches you can hike to from the lodge. Fantastic views, beautiful trails from the property. Lots of wildlife- toucans, black hawk nest, parrots, monkeys. The food was really amazing and the staff were incredible. We will be back for sure!!!

There is no air conditioning, but there are fans in the rooms. The rooms are lovely, simple and clean. If you are an AC person, this is not the place for you. If you love nature, ocean breezes, and the outdoors you will love it here.

Incredible stay. Las Caletas lodge is in the middle on nature, only reachable by boat. We stayed in one of the bungalow (all with ocean view), made of typical wood and nicely furnished. Falling asleep with the ocean sound and waking up finding toucans and blue Macao outside your balcony is priceless. The lodge offer dinner and lunch in the amazing restaurant (food is great!). On top, staff is super king and open to help you for anything you need.

Las Caletas Lodge is located In the jungle and at the seashore in secluded, beautiful and very well maintained place. The whole lodge is at very high standard and with fine dining - this was really exceptional and we didn't expect such standard in Osa Peninsula. Tranquility of that area where you can hear only sounds of jungle wildlife is simply amazing. We spend there in the bungalow 3 nights in total and combined the stay with 3 day trip to Corcovado National park. I can highly recommend this property.

The meals at Las Caletas were exceptional! The chef and his/her staff prepared delicious meals that would rival a 4-star restaurant. And, the manager, Daniel, went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the best it could be. I had actually lost my wallet somewhere between the plane, taxi and boat ride to the property and within 1 phone call, he found it! It had fallen out of my purse in the cab. He took what was probably his afternoon off to go into town and get it for me. Needless to say, our vacation could have been ruined if it weren't for his generous act. And kudos to the cab driver who kept everything safe for me, including all of my money and credit cards. If this would have happened in another country, I'm sure I would never have seen that wallet again but the people in Costa Rica really go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of. The other thing we really liked was the location. It was so seclude and we woke to the sounds of howler monkeys each morning. And it was a short boat ride to snorkel at Cano island and also to visit Corcovado park. We also enjoyed the communal dinners with the other guests. It allowed us to meet some nice people from other countries and share their experiences of where else they had traveled within Costa Rica. I think many are missing a wonderful location within Costa Rica by NOT going to the Osa Peninsula. If you do go to the Drake Bay area, make sure to stay at Las Caletas, you won't be disappointed! The other places in Drake Bay proper pale in comparison. Many thanks too to Jolanda who tirelessly answered all of my pre-vacation questions! Her patience was helpful in understanding how to get in and out of the Las Caletas property. We took a plane from San Jose airport into Drake Bay, followed by a cab ride for about 1/2 hour into Drake Bay. Then Las Caletas picked us up in their private boat to take us to the hotel. The travel to get there was definitely part of the experience!

We didn't expect air conditioning but it would have been helpful. It was extremely hot and difficult to sleep with temps in the 90s and humidity also in the 90s. Also, the cabin we were in needed some maintenance, which I pointed out to Daniel when we were leaving so that it could be repaired.
