My family and I stayed the Melia Caribe Beach Resort for 14 nights in August 2022. We chose the Melia for its family friendly variety of activities and choice of restaurants for our 15 year old daughter and 11 year old son. Our accommodation was great - two interconnecting rooms in The Level. We upgraded to The Level since we wanted a little exclusivity and this was our first holiday in three years. We were also assigned a concierge for the duration of our stay to look after us and ensure we had a comfortable stay. The Melia is big, but there are couple of trains that continuously travel around the resort so you can hop on/off where you want. The beach is beautiful - long, wide and clean. During our visit there was inflatable assault course in the sea; it costs $20 USD for an hour which is plenty and so much fun - we visited twice during our stay. Restaurants: Riviera - very good Hokkaido - good (this restaurant is not in the all-inclusive-package - the cost is added to your bill at the park end. Excellent food from an excellent chef; wine and a welcome cocktail included in the set menu. However, the restaurant lacked any sort of atmosphere, ambience, and Japanese decor; we could have been anywhere), Barefoot - good (stick to burgers and fries; my wife’s Caesar salad was poor), Alma - very good, Capri - very good The reception staff at The Level were great - our concierge team were excellent (big shout out and thank you to Reynardo and Saudi) and special mention to the young man known fondly as ‘Sexy Body’ - always with a smile.

Restaurants: La Hacienda - not so good (we had to wait an hour and a half for our food to arrive and when it did it was average. The manager was very apologetic), Merkado - not so good (listed as Caribbean cuisine during our stay, but the food was Italian and below average) l

The resort's location is simply outstanding. Our room was situated near the main swimming pool, offering a stunning view of the beach on the horizon. Although the main restaurants were a bit far from our room, the hotel provided convenient rides back and forth, or we could enjoy a pleasant walk filled with charming details, both during the day and at night. I truly felt immersed in the Caribbean atmosphere. The rooms were spacious and adequately equipped, though some aspects could use improvement. Visiting during the off-season, we appreciated the calm ambiance, with the occasional lively activity around the pool kept to an acceptable level. Noise levels overall were very low. The beach was exceptional—clean, with plenty of space to relax. Do yourself a favor and wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise. Both buffets, especially the one near the lobby, were the highlights for dining, offering a variety of delicious options. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate all requests, even though they appeared to be understaffed. The gym was well-located and equipped with everything you might need, although towels were unavailable for a couple of days due to a laundry issue. A special thanks to the lobby staff who went the extra mile to help us check in despite a significant issue with our credit card. Hats off to their dedication and professionalism!

Hot water wasn´t working once and some of the bathroom facilities were in bad condition. Having a considerable number of european tourists, the poll was full of ´covered ´ seats and the staff was not enforcing the rule of not leaving abandoned towels for long time. Be aware if you want to get a place by the pool. We tried italian and mexican restaurants for the sake of variety, but both were to be skipped because the food was poor, even though the staff did a good job of servicing on time.

The entire experience was excellent. From my concierge Jose, to the entire staff at The Level and YHI Spa, everyone provided exceptional service during my 6 day visit. The food was great and plentiful, the facilities and grounds were very clean and well kept, housekeeping was very friendly and attentive, To top it off, Jose, my concierge arranged a birthday surprise in my room unexpectedly. I arrived to find a beautifully decorated room filled with balloons, a bubble bath waiting in the jacuzzi, and a personal birthday cake 🎂. This trip could not have been more perfect!! I would definitely recommend Meliá Caribe Beach Resort for your next journey to the Dominican Republic.

The service was excellent. Luciano, Maiky, Cristina, Wander, Sara, Francia, I could go on and on. We had reservations every night. Our drinks were always full. We had to tell the bartender to stop giving us beautiful piña coladas, we weren’t even finished with the current and new one was waiting. We paid extra for the Level and boy was that worth it. The entertainment at night is great, but if you do have kids and want to go to bed at 8pm, you might struggle with the music in the lobby late. Ask for a room that is further away to help with that. If you don’t like to walk, you will have to take the shuttle. I didn’t mind, I came home in better shape than I left - no joke. It’s about 1,000 steps from the lobby to the beach. With walking everywhere and dancing at night, I clocked in 22,000 steps one day, but on a normal day usually about 5,000-10,000 depending if I lounged at the pool or beach.

The property’s pathways have tile that get pretty pretty slick when wet (it’s tropical and rains intermittently) The property is on the older side, so they are pieces of it that can look “run down”, but I think it’s in great condition for a place that probably gets some serious weathering from hurricane season. The pools were clean, we constantly saw gardeners and maintenance folks throughout the day keeping up the lush grounds. I know there were some bad reviews and it made me nervous, but perhaps this was taken to heart as I had a fantastic experience. Can’t wait to return.

Juan from Guest Services, Gabi from Membership Services, all the friendly, generous Bar Staff and staff in general. The quality, tastiness and choices of food in the buffet and Hokkaido. The comfort of the rooms. The well maintained grounds, the peacocks, the vibe in the hotel lobby. The Dominican dancers in the show, the events that they hosted in the lobby. The spa and hot/cold dip after. The train transportation, the generosity of staff picking us up on their way to work in their buggies too.

Yenny from Membership Services, she was rude, arrogant, and condescending. Her disrespectful attitude surely steers away potential rewards club members from a great deal. Service execution, the staff had great personality/attitude but missed a few things (missing napkins, glasses, hard to find clean seating in the buffet, forgotten drinks etc). Mexican restaurant, the tacos came out stale like it had been left under the heat lamp for hours.

Not all the restaurants were working and at the time of checking they gave us some coupons to be used for drinks, meals and others for the spa, but at the time of using them in one of the restaurants that are paid they gave us the excuse that the system was not working but that we could presented it at the time of checkout to deduct it from the amount to be paid for the restaurant but they did not let us use it telling us that they can only be used at the moment in the restaurant even when we explained what they had been told us at the restaurant.

The buffet the doors were left open and a lot of flys will get in to the food. Also the pools will close too early and no one was cleaning up the trash around the pool area.

Lets start by saying the property is huge and surrounded by nature which feels just great. The facilities are very well maintaned and the service offered at "the level" are very good. Staff is friendly and ready to help at anytime you need. The food and drinks are good and the service offered by the beach bar is great. It is a perfect place to rest for the week. I highly recommend to book "the level" rooms for the extra service that you can get inside the property that includes a very comfy and exclusive spot by the beach.

Meliá has a very strict policy and uber drivers are not allowed to enter in the hotel. I understand that, but staff should not make your life harder to drop you at the front door to catch an uber. I felt some resistance every time I wanted to call an uber and they were trying to convince me to take a taxi that would cost me 4X the price. If the price was 2X more expensive I believe it was fine but charging me 40EUR for a 5km ride it was way too much. As a suggestion, the chain should look after having events for single travelers. I saw a lot of activities for families only.

Another Melia hotel that we could enjoy the gardens, widespread buildings and a lot of space. I recommend for anyone trying to avoid big buildings with crowds (although it's not a boutique hotel obviously) Localization - amazing beach with white sand, plenty of space, turquoise water... Drinks - great staff serving almost anything you ask for ;) Kids waterpark also a big plus for family visit.

Food :( Absolutely disappointed with the quality of food. I've been in Melia in other parts of the world and had experienced much much better quality of food compared to Melia Caribe
