The hotel is far from the Hilo city centre, it is recommended to have a car or a taxi. There is one restaurant just next to the hotel and some other quite near it, so if you don't really plan to stay in Hilo centre, think about this hotel. The rooms are very nice, had everything we needed, comfy beds, fridge, we were in a refurbished one, without a TV but it did not bother us and we were warned about it by the staff when checking in. Speaking about the staff, super friendly, super nice and helpful. Outside of the room was a small garden, we enjoyed our own breakfast each morning sitting right next to it. We also rented bikes - super easy. We enjoyed the 24h free coffee (best in my opinion in Big Island), we less enjoyed the one free kombucha but i's just not our taste. The airport is near but we did not noticed much of the noise, especially in the evening.

The rooms and the entire hotel are well cleaned and beautiful. Towels are new and fluffy. the photos are taken when i check out.

(As a premise, I like to clean very much.) The shelves above the vanity were too large and the vanity was very difficult to use. When I checked in, there was a very very small weak winged insect in the room, which I removed by swatting it with a newspaper I had. The screen of window was new, so maybe they went in through the door when they cleaned room? That's my guess. The bed mattress was a little too soft for me.

This place is always here for us! We've been between homes and had to stay here for a few nights and they made it easy to extend and showed compassion for our challenges. Next, my son got sick and they were very understanding and helpful with the mess he made, bringing extra sheets and towels when needed. Finally, I broke my leg and they so kindly gave us a handicap room near the pool so my son could swim and I wouldn't have to go far. We had a bunch of stuff in our car we had to leave in storage for a few days as well, and they were helpful with that. Everyone was so friendly and helpful.

We had a great stay here. We were placed in what was considered the quietest part of the hotel with the most upgraded rooms and our room was very nice. It did not have a TV but that wasn't an issue for us. The AC worked really well, it was quiet enough that we slept well, and we had a fridge which was convenient. The only microwave was in the lobby though. The bathroom was small but nice. The toilet had a bidet which my husband was a big fan of. It was a bit pricey for three nights here but we were here during Christmas so I expected that. Overall, I would stay here again!

It would have been nice to have a microwave in our room, but we only needed it once so no big deal. I think the room could have been slightly cleaner as I noticed a couple of hairs in the shower, but I travel often and rarely, if ever, find a hotel room that is perfectly clean.

Very close to the airport. Really friendly staff. I did not realize the sustainability efforts of the SCP brand when we booked, but this added to the good feeling of our stay. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. There was free gated parking. We spent a lot of time at the pool which had a really nice seating area and a beautiful buddha statue adding to a serene feel. I also strongly recommend the Lomilomi massage at Malama Honua Massage Therapy. We ate several meals at the restaurant next door, Coconut Grill, which had amazing food (my first time trying Lau Lau) and really beautiful local art depicting Hawaiian legends.

The rooms are simple and nice. The hotel looks recently renovated and it's a great looking space. The beds were comfy, and my partner loved having AC. The amenities are great. Having a cold water fill station and available laundry in the hotel was very convenient. Staff were friendly and fabulous.

The rooms are older and so the walls are really thin. Wear ear plugs or be a heavy sleeper. The room next to us got heavy into margaritaville and we heard them experience the consequences in the middle of the night, gross. We were fine with proximity to the airport and the planes but the drunkies on vacation are impossible to miss unfortunately.

Check-in was super smooth and welcoming. The amenities and perks were great. Easy to find our room and the hotel location is convenient. Close to the coast and beautiful spaces to enjoy. Felt welcome, had plenty of extras, and was a good base for exploring.

The furniture in the room was a little sparse - could use one more table or dresser. Needed a little more space to spread out. Parking was on site, but spaces are pretty tight. We got back late one night and struggled to find a space because many were parked over the lines or taking up two spots.

Price and location

Only in for 2 days to tour island wanted ,$$$ for 3 hour early checkin. But that is the way Hawaii and all the islands are. Only in it for the $$$, treat tourists like fish in a barrel.

Fabulous little newly updated hotel. Well done on a fantastic hotel with lots of extra details. Good value for money and the best place to stay in Hilo without a doubt which was recommended to us.

Only super nit picky thing I have to say is the location is a five minute drive or good brisk 15 minute walk from the main centre street. That said there is no hotels in the centre anyway and there is not much in Hilo really it was just a base to visit the Volcano National park for us. The homeless people in the main town centre were out of control, not sure whats going on with that?

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was clean. There was ample parking. I really appreciated the free water, coffee, tea and other amenities. The rooms were very big and the a/c worked well. I appreciate the social responsibility aspect and approach to providing accommodation!

The hotel is located right next to the airport, so you can hear quite clearly the aircraft noise which is - at times - excessive. Thankfully, though, Hilo airport is rather small so there are not so many planes per day. There were some bugs in our bathroom which managed to get in through the broken window. The bathroom was relatively small and I didn't find the mattress or pillows (flat) to be very comfortable (but personal taste).
