The sound of water, the sense of it and the beautiful setting by the river. It is of the best kind of Ryokan sensual experience in Japan. So comfortable. Caring team throughout. Personally over the years I have come to love the area and this hotel is so well positioned. The restaurant is an experience too.

This is both an hotel and a dining experience. You probably need the to take in both, to enjoy the whole, but at a cost. Personally I found it okay but there is no restaurant ‘discount’ from being a resident that I can see.

The hotel and grounds were exquisite. Everything was finished to a very high standard. Our room was lovely, even if a little small. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very attractive. The hotel had free loaner e-bikes that we used to explore the surrounding area.

Getting to the hotel necessitating driving through portions of the Perigord that we would not otherwise have visited. We were underwhelmed by Brantome, and disappointed to find that we would have to wait over an hour for the next tour of Villars Cave (Grotte)

Such an elegant hotel. Our room and terrace were lovely, extremely comfortable and well maintained. The staff were exceptional, especially Emiline who seemed to be the unlucky one who was always available to answer all of our assorted questions about the surrounding area. She is delightful. The restaurant, Roda, was outstanding. The food and service exceptional with an elegant setting.

If your life revolves around your laptop please note the internet was difficult, bumping us offline repeatedly during our stay with service too weak to make phone calls. Housekeeping was a bit haphazard and hurried...a dirty cleaning cloth left in the room one day, glasses not exchanged for fresh ones on two days and the sink drain removed and left to the side another morning...yuck. One evening when the restaurant was closed it was suggested by the hotel to order a meal from a takeaway service which the hotel works with. The food was extremely bland and boring.

The stay at the mill is a time out with all the amenities: beautiful locality, both rooms and the catering area and the garden with pool. Professional, attentive service and fine food. However, the menu is not changed (frequently), at least not within the 4 days of my stay. Since the selection is not very large, this is a small drawback.

Booking fees are passed on to the guest. Per day a whopping 40 euros are charged - not applicable when booking directly! Very annoying to simply roll over the costs to the guest - of course without being informed beforehand!

Incredible setting lots and lots charming features set to the relaxing sound track of the river alongside. Lovely staff and superb breakfast. Unfortunately on this occasion we didn’t get to try the restaurant but I have every confidence that it would be worth coming back for.

Everyone was super friendly and accommodating. We arrived a little for lunch but they found room for us and had a delicious meal. We had our lively young dog and our 4 year old with us and the staff could not have been more attentive. Fabulous venue, beautiful setting and incredible food. Highly recommended

An exceptional hotel and restaurant, a real French experience, professional, courteous and friendly staff. The buildings and grounds are exceptional, the restaurant setting is wonderful as is the cooking
