The location is superb and the hotel itself is very charming. I really couldn't have hoped for a better location. It's really an excellent mid point when driving by car to the south of France. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Would happily visit again.

Our room only had a bathtub and a hand shower so that wasn't ideal. I found the restaurant at the hotel not to be very good at all especially considering how expensive it was.

Beautiful place, we will be back and have told friends about it who have booked for September - keep up the good work

It would have been good to have had a heads up about pre-booking dinner as was booked out however we went to the Barge on the river which was a very pleasant experience anyway so all ok. Also had a beautiful room with a huge bathroom- but no shower for which there was plenty of room - still not a show stopper but would have been better

Beautiful old property which has been sympathetically restored. So cosy and such attention to detail. Loved the breakfast room with roaring open fire

The room was beautiful but a bit on the small side and the lighting could have been better. We will definitely return but would book a larger room next time. Small room was fine for one night but any longer would have been a bit cramped

A quintessentially French piece of history with modern comfort and charming staff. My dog was most welcome, the bed was the deepest, featheriest, slumber inducing heaven and the breakfast beyond fabulous

The private parking is a little tight but I could charge my hybrid on site, although it was expensive to charge it the little bit it needed

The most gorgeous hotel in a very central location. The most incredible restoration project. The staff went above and beyond. The food was fantastic. The beds were really comfortable. The whole stay was really, really lovely.

The only thing that could have been better was a hook to put the in bath shower on and a shower curtain to make showering in the bath easier.

Breakfast was amazing - scrambled eggs and bacon with croissants and preserves served with filter coffee and fresh orange juice. The service was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble for the hotel staff. The hotel was so beautiful and exceeded our expectations - like something from a Tudor movie set but all real.

I have stayed at Le Champ des Oiseaux on numerous occasions over the years and have always enjoyed my stay, albeit brief. I once left a rather nice coat, telephoned the hotel, a member of staff found it and it was sent by courier to my home address in the South East. Truly extraordinary service.

A very comfortable and stylish hotel in a good location to explore the city. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the owners were very helpful with recommendations. Our evening meal was a real treat and the breakfast was fresh and beautifully served. We were sorry not to stay longer.

It’s a charming historic hotel beautifully restored in the medieval city of Troyes. Rooms are lovely, its location is very central, parking is easy (we visited off-season though). Staff is friendly and the breakfast was excellent.

Set behind the Cathedral in Troyes this old hotel is full of charm and history. Breakfast was unique in that it wasn't the usual buffet. It was brought by a waitress but no menu was provided so it was difficult to determine what could have been available for this (expensive) meal. I wonder if I had asked for braised kidneys (a favorite of mine) whether they would have been able to provide!

I had been in email contact with the hotel for a week before arrival to request a table for dinner. On the morning of our arrival I was told the restaurant was fully booked. When we arrived I asked again about dinner and I was told we would have to eat elsewhere. We asked them to book somewhere nearby that they would recommend and we ate at the La Barge nearby. It was most acceptable. Parking is extremely difficult. There are about 6 spaces at the front door in a narrow one-way street. My wife holds a blue badge so we had to unload outside the hotel and I then had to search for a parking space. Fortunately a disabled spot was available about 100m from the hotel otherwise I would have had to search further afield. So be warned - parking and hotel restaurant reservations are difficult!
