Our family of three stayed at the Manava Beach Resort & Spa - Moorea for three nights. We had a fabulous time during our stay! When we arrived for our 2:00pm check-in, we were greeted warmly and were given a tour of the property. As our bags were being brought to the bungalow, we were offered a welcome drink in the bar. Our “Premium Over Water Bungalow - Lagoon View” was amazing! We had unobstructed panoramic views of the aqua colored water off of our back deck and were able to jump into the water to snorkel. The room was very nicely appointed, comfortable and spacious with a large bathroom. It was nice to have a small fridge in the room and a coffee/tea area was available as well as daily housekeeping. It was so much fun to look down through the glass coffee table to the reef below to see all the brightly colored fish swim by. The gorgeous infinity pool on the property is very large and and affords wonderful views of the bungalows and the ocean. Resort amenities include equipment for paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling and ping pong. On site is also dive shop where you can learn to dive or go out on a dive boat for the more seasoned diver. Located around the pool is a wonderful, casual bar area as well as a more upscale restaurant. Happy Hour is 5 - 7 each day in the bar area. There is also a Polynesian show each Saturday night. There was never a problem getting a lounge chair by the pool. The snorkeling at the resort around the coral reef was fantastic! We saw a shark, a small octopus, a spiny star fish, sea urchins, turtles, parrot fish and so much more. Check-out is at 11:00am but our flight was in the evening. We were able to stay at the resort and use all of the amenities until it was time to depart by taxi to the ferry. We booked the shower room to use which is a nice benefit. This is true if you check-in early as well. We took an excellent 6-hour Snorkel & Lunch excursion with Moorea Miti Tours.
There were quite a few bird droppings in front of our bungalow door. I called the front desk to ask if the droppings could be cleaned since they could be tracked into the room up but was told that “it is the season of the birds” and it can’t be done. I did see the pool attendant cleaning the droppings off of the umbrellas around the restaurant. It was so bad that I took it upon myself to clean the area in front of our bungalow since it was nearly completely covered.

Staff is mostly nice, some were snobbish. The room was very clean and comfortable. Toiletries are free and plentiful. Pool is super warm and you can enjoy the many amazing views from it. You can see fish from the decks, there is a lot of fish around, beautiful location and gorgeous views. Snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding can be done for free. Not crowded ever. Some coffee/cream is provided daily. Kettle and fridge are available in each room. AC works great. There is a tiny gym. Anthony and Baptiste were very helpful. Supermarket where you can find anything you need nearby, 3-minute walk, accept CC. Plenty of activities you can book ($) at the hotel. Two restaurants next to the hotel where you can try their local food, accept CC. Locals are extremely nice and always want to help you.
At check-in no warm towel/complementary drink was provided. The tour was lame, didn't do it properly. Room fridge did not really cool. Water bottle is not provided daily. Expensive. Gym is so small, no weights, two treadmills, two elliptical machines, two stationary bicycles, and one row machine. You need to ask for a key to use it.

Reception staff are great and very friendly. Room was lovely, and facilities are good. The Polynesian night (Saturday) was also excellent! Comfy bed, great shower, excellent size room.
Some of the ladies working in the restaurant/bar are not very friendly at all which is a massive shame. We also had a dead cockroach appear in our bathroom one day which we asked reception if someone could remove - it was surprising it took them over 24hrs to do this. Lastly, make sure you steer clear of breakfast!! Don't pay for breakfast at the hotel - just go to cafes down the road. The "American" breakfast is extremely overpriced, and the continental breakfast had birds walking all over it and pecking at all the bread/cakes/pastries. Staff didn't seem bothered about shooing them away. Nothing is covered at all so the fruit all had loads of flies on it, and the birds have free reign of the breaded items!

Beautiful setting and location. Staff all very friendly - showed us around on arrival and took us to our room. Peaceful and relaxing environment. Great pool and free use of kayaks and snorkelling equipment.
The price for Manea spa is considerably more expensive compared to other massage services in the area so decided not to use it. The New Years Eve compulsory dinner was overpriced - we were seated in the Miti Bar restaurant with limited view of the show. The buffet queue was long and the night felt a bit rushed. There wasn’t enough time to go for a second plate. The DJ idea missed the mark and most people returned to their rooms.

Specious rooms, great water villa (we upgraded for 2nights), nice personel at front desk and lady concierge (helped us to book boat trips and taxis and gave lot of information about the island). Great location close to everything ( good resturants nearby and shops). We could see dolphins, sharks and turtles from our water villa. Free kayaks rental was nice. Housekeeping was also helpful. Beautiful garden
Breakfast choices could be improved- 1 day 20min after breakfast was open there was no cheese or any cold cuts. For this hotel standard breakfast was very very basic. Personel at bars and restaurants could be quicker and nicer- we had impression most of the people that work there don’t care

The hotel is at a decent price point for an over the water bungalow. Even my island tour guide commented that I made a good compromise. I booked one over the water bungalow and one room that was next to the beach. The one next to the beach, unfortunately, has tons of mosquitoes. So my suggestion is to book one that is over the water. We saw dolphins swimming in the ocean just by going outside the room, it was great. They provide kayaks and snorkeling gear for free. This hotel is 5 mins away from "town", there is a bank, restaurants and some shops there and a super market, so very convenient. However, they all closed early on 12/24 and not opened on 12/25. The pool was nice as well. I would stay here again if I come to Moorea again. The front desk young lady was super nice. She was kind of the only one smiling all the time. The other staff (her manager) at the front desk does not seem to be smiling at all.
They did not have enough snorkeling gear. I do not believe that people return them each day either. Had champagne with buffet on 12/24 with a show, but that was mandatory and expensive. The buffet was ok, not spectacular, but the show was good. I had to prepay for this buffet even before I have to pay for the hotel rooms. They said if I don't pay, they will cancel my reservation! There is one staff named Yvette, she was not nice. Not only did she not smile, she seems upset when we sat down only for drinks (with no food) during happy hour. The bell front took some of our luggage but was unable to give them to me when our taxi was here to take us to the airport. We had to wait for like 15 mins to find that luggage.

They welcomed us with a big smile. We were there at 12 noon and they cleaned the room so fast so they can accommodate us for early check-in. It was hot and we have 2 babies so we really appreciated it. The property is close to manui grill and maitai restaurant which are both popular for dining and for a good price. I liked it that it’s closed to everything, downtown and breakfast spots and even grocery store if you need something. We stayed at premium water bungalows and they gave us tahitian pearl as a gift and a botte of champagne with macarons! We loved it! Staffs were really nice, clean rooms (they even called us to what time we wanted our room to be cleaned.) The bungalow has a small glass bottom so you can see the fishes at night. My daughter loves it! We ate at tiki bar for happy hour and it was really good. We tried the mahanai restaurant too from my birthday dinner and food was great!

The location on the island is great. Very close ( walkable ) to the grocery store and a few other restaurants. Buy some of the local juices and alcohol juice mixes and local beer for your in room frig to enjoy on you own deck. We ended up eating the majority of our meals at the resort. Breakfast was included for our stay and was good. We enjoyed the made to order omelets each morning and all the fresh fruit and pastries. Previous reviews complained about the staff and food in the dining room , but we disagree completely! Everyone was wonderful and the food was delicious. We had a wide variety of items from the menu and thought everything was prepared well and tasted great. I can’t think of one encounter with the resort staff that was not really good. Thank you Manava staff! Wednesday evening was the Polynesian dancers performance. We enjoyed that. Our beach front bungalow was lovely and we very much enjoyed sitting on our front porch and enjoying the view out to the over the water bungalows and outer ocean. We were located on the right side of the resort as you look to the water. Good location as it is a bit quieter on that side. The pool area and pool are lovely. The snorkeling out along the Oceanside of the OWB units is very nice. Especially over by the public dock side. We saw a large variety of beautiful fish along the coral and even a turtle. We also used the complementary kayaks to paddle out to the gorgeous turquoise water out in the lagoon. We had a couple very windy , cloudy days during our stay that were unfortunate but then the sun came out and wow! It’s so gorgeous. One day we rented a car from Alberts right across the street from the resort. Very easy and reasonable. It was fun to explore the island on our own. No worries about getting lost! The road just circles the island. Pretty stops along the way. The Rotui juice factory with free samples is a fun stop.
The smaller bed in the beach bungalow was very uncomfortable. Mattress needs to be replaced. It would be helpful to have more hooks and places to hang wet towels and swimsuits etc. Also a chest of drawers that operated easier would be helpful for storing stuff. The one provided looked nice but the drawers were so hard to pull out.

Just amazing views of the lagoon and island. Situated in one of the more interesting parts of the island, whereas when we passed other resorts they were not surrounded by as much to do (or more importantly, places to eat or shop). Hotel had free snorkeling and kayaks for use. Loved the pool as a compliment to the ocean. Spacious room; good AC. Staff was incredibly helpful on checkout day, where we had to be out of the room by 11am but stayed on the property to swim and relax until 5pm.
We were discouraged by the prices for dinner and breakfast was solid but not exceptional, so we chose to eat non-breakfast meals off-premise.

Right from the moment we arrived, the staff at The Manava were so welcoming, kind and helpful. We were made to feel welcome from the start. We had an official welcome and were shown around the resort facilities, after we had checked in, and taken to the bar for complimentary drinks. Our luggage was delivered to our room. The rooms are immaculate and well situated. The facilities are top notch, the swimming pool is perfect & we loved the restaurant and bar area. Highly recommended to all travellers who love great service. The Manava Resort is positions on the North Shore of Moorea which is close to the water sports venues and in close proximity to the Grocery store, Maharepa & Pao Pao townships and about 10 mins to Airport and 15 mins to the Ferry Terminal.
Carpark driveway when exiting is a little rough and probably needs resurfacing
