Small and friendly hotel in a quiet neighbourhood of Berlin surrounded by trees. - Details well thought-of, everything worked great - Excellent breakfast (one of the best-boiled eggs I've seen at hotels!) - Single room with big windows with everything you need - Not manned 24/24 but efficient communication and kind support make up for it - Near the market, coffee shops and authentic (not touristy) areas

Bed a little bit softer than my preferred (hard) type - No air-con (they provided a mini fan): I like warmer rooms but it happened to be one of the hottest days, so I left the huge windows for 10-15 minutes to let the cool air in but with that entered mosquitos ;-// and the night was tough. - 1 mini-bottle of complimentary water for a 3-night stay was too little, especially with the heat wave (and no air-con) - A bit far from public transportation (I used buses and subways) so need to be fit/willing to walk - Coffee/kettle in the room would have been nice (though kettles are provided in the downstairs self-service area)

Great hotel, albeit the rooms are a bit small. We had a Comfort double room which is comfortable for 2 adults. The staff are great, willing to help and answer any questions. We had a continental breakfast one morning which was also fantastic with a wide selection of breads, pastries, eggs and fruit

Our other room (we booked 2) was the Standard Double room - this was very small. Potentially OK for a couple, but for 2 adult male siblings (both over 6 foot) it was a squeeze. Also the hotel is in a very quiet location so need to explore a few hundred metres to get into the action. We liked the quiet aspect though

Cozy, modern, comfortable, quiet, and well-run hotel. Good wifi, modern room and bathroom, blackout curtains, and well-heated in winter. Excellent value for the price point. The location is good in a safe and quiet neighborhood in Kreuzberg. It's a 7-10 minute walk to the subway and 2-3 minutes from a bus stop with frequent departures to the main tourist sights. It's also super-close to some of the best döner and currywurst in Berlin by Mehringdamm station. (Handy for getting there early if you don't want to queue for 1-2 hours.) The staff is super-friendly—not sure if it's a family-run hotel but it felt like home. Although I didn't get breakfast, they had snacks and drinks for purchase on an honor system by the lobby, which was handy. I've been to Berlin many times and this was my first time at Hotel Johann. I will definitely be back!

Location and noice level were excellent. I prefer smaller Hotels like this over the 500+ bed Hotels.

My first double room had supposedly a queen size double bed. However there was a wooden pole in the middle (as two single beds were just put together) and hence the bed was not very comfortable.

I had an amazing stay at Hotel Johann. The staff was really helpful and pleasant, and the check-in was straightforward. The room was exceptionally clean with all the amenities you need for an enjoyable stay. Concerning the location, the hotel is just a short walk away from all the must-see attractions in Berlin. Also, I would highly recommend their breakfast :)

The room has huge, modern, it had a kitchenette, minibar, couch, safety deposit box, very nice windows with a very nice street view. The staff was really friendly and accomodating. They offered to store our luggage for free all the time we needed. I don't know his name, but the guy at the reception voluntarily explained us how to get from the hotel to the airport very patiently and kindly when we were leaving. They also had a very nice outside seating area, where you could also have breakfast. There were always snacks and drinks you could take from the reception at night in case you had a last minute craving.

The breakfast was very good quality but didn't had that many choices. For me, it was missing some warm options, such as saussages, bacon, scrambled eggs (though they did have hard boiled eggs) and maybe some pastries, a croissant at least. But it was very good nonetheless.

Wonderful big windows that opened to a courtyard to let in air and light. Comfy bed and crisp linens. Immaculate. Great staff- always helpful and informed, good security for bike parking. Wonderful location. Dead quiet.

Room was very small. Smoke is the biggest issue-smoking at the entrance to the hotel and in the courtyard makes you wade through it to enter. The smoking in the courtyard is by the back door and under the windows to the upper rooms so smoke wafts into the room. Nasty and unhealthy. Easy fix- move the front smoking down the stairs to the side so one can enter the hotel w/o being immersed in smoke and move the patio smoking to a back area so smoke doesn't enter the rooms. No housekeeping during your stay - even to empty trash during your stay unless you ask.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Good location, plenty of restaurants and public transport nearby. It was nice and quiet in the hotel. I enjoyed the floor heating in the bathroom.

The only thing me and my wife didn't like was the bathroom door. It's made of glass and there is sort of a gap on the side. So if you have different schedules you will definitely wake each other up because of the light and the sound of the shower.

Very nice small hotel with very friendly staff in Berlin - slightly off the beaten track but all the nicer for it - close to a park and well within walking distance of town as well as some neighbourhood bars and restaurants in Bergmannkiez. The rooms were stylish in understated way. The beds were comfortable, there was great wifi and underfloor heating in the shower room.

The breakfast was very good but, as ever, I would have preferred it if it could be included in the room price.

The hotel was excellent and in a fantastic location, conveniently close to Columbiahalle, where the Aespa concert took place. My room was incredibly comfortable, with a minimalist yet inviting design. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly. The breakfast they offered was both delicious and health-conscious.
