We loved our stay at the Musela Studios to bits! It's a lovely family run hotel 15 mins drive from Rethimno, next village is 2mins (you need a car!) It's super quiet and you have an entire beach to yourself that is 10 steps from the pool! The pool are was always clean, parasols were great and beachbeds were super comfy! Rooms were comfortable and cleaned every day. You can get beach towels for 5€ deposit. Bar had a good selection of refreshments, cocktails, and snacks. Breakfast was nice, not a massive bar bit a good variety of sweet and savoury options, proteins, fruits and a good coffee machine. We were allowed a very late checkout that allowed us to have access to our room till the evening (we had a late night flight...). This was super convenient! Manulis, Paris and Alkis were lovely hosts, super kind and helpful at all times.

We booked 2 rooms (one for 2 teenager kids) and we asked them to be located on the same floor. This couldn't be accommodated on our arrival. We were offered a room swap from halfway of our stay (day 5), but it would have meant packing out-in-out again, so we opted to stay in the original room. This room was newly made, and some bits were still unfinished. Our daughters actually didn't mind this at all and turned out they were happy staying away from parents too, haha!

Breakfast was a lot of choices including healthy options and plenty of coffee. The host was very friendly and everything was very smooth and easy. The beds and rooms are big and spacious.

Worst thing was finding the location! The number in the address isn't quite enough, it took us off uphill until we realised that we needed to use the name of the hotel in Google Maps. It is a busy road and the sign is quite small in a delicate font so you need to have your eyes peeled if you are driving there.

The ocean is right in front of hotel and can swim in the pool from 10 am. The sea in front of hotel is stony, so a short walk will take to a sandy beach. The staff is very friendly and always working quickly. The kitchen is attached so can cook anytime. Very nice place to relax. You may need a car.

Sea-facing rooms have a beautiful view! The beach in front of the hotel is accessible (but no umbrellas or sunbeds, only by the pool). Our room was spacious and well-equipped. Breakfast is very good, especially fresh fruits. The staff was nice and super polite. There are shops, tavernas, and bars nearby (car needed). The city of Rethymno can be reached by car in 15-20 minutes.

The balcony was big, with a beautiful view, but a bit dirty and there were a few bugs - not a deal breaker for us but might be for some people. Some of the furniture is really old, which gives a sense that the whole hotel is old. The bathroom is quite small and the quality is not the best. The hotel is on the main road from Chania to Rethymno so it can get noisy (not really a problem for the sea-facing rooms).

The place had everything we needed. It is at an excellent position between west and east Crete . So stopping here is so relaxing after a day travelling! Very close to main road yet traffic dies down during night and the only sounds ( if doors are left open) is the beautiful sound of waves crushing softly on the beach which is just meters away. Thanks for the stay....and hopefully see you on our way back to the west side!

Breakfast was really good but no restaurant on site. Very close by there is a genuine Greek restaurant.

Very good breakfast. Nice view from balkony and from pool area. Pool is next to the sea. Nice peole. We had room with garden view but there was private sunbeds area and faboulus seaview from there wath we didn't expect! Easy parking. Hotel cat :) Very private beach with stones. Stones are not everywhere in the sea! You can swim there. Maybe not for little children.

All was good!

Best thing was localisation, very private, swimming pool next to the beach, great breakfast by the swimming pool 🥰

We requested a bed for a small baby, we received a bed, which smelled like old urine (whole bed with materace), after one night all our things and clothes smelled like urine, whole room was smelly. Smell was so strong, it woke us up at night.

The location was perfect, being so close to the beach. The room was always clean and tidy, thanks to the efficient housekeeping staff. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of delicious options, and the staff were friendly and went above and beyond to assist with any requests. I recommend.

For us this was the best accommodation on the island, a very practical location, amazing room, directly on a calm beach (calm on weekdays, probably different on weekends), nearest beach bar with chilling music in walking distance - about 10 minutes walk on the beach.

The only thing that wasn't the best on the island was the breakfast, but we are a bit spoiled in this area. We personally would prefer a bit more fresh fruits or a fruit-salad and maybe some home-made products like honey for example.

I like that the hotel seems to be as new opened. It is literally on the beach. The room was with sea view and had a fantastic sensation to watch and hear the waves. The beds were comfy and big enough. The room was also clean and big enough, with a nice and wide balcony. The breakfast was good and fair for the money we payed, with good alternatives for vegetarians too. The hosts were very nice and always ready to help with anything we need, from a good reccomandation to eat or true smiles.
