Excellent location, good value/rate, good money change rate, friendly hostel staff, good airport to hotel transfer, awesome rooftop view

Had horrible experience with their very unprofessional driver for our Agra to Delhi transfer (late, left us with no aircon in the car in hot weather, fuelled 3 times, kept using cellphone while driving, kept opening his door to spit while driving, not properly dressed, strong cigarette smell in car, not in agreed meeting area after a stop, no consideration for passenger time/comfort). Hostel in noisy area.

Excellent location right next to the Taj Mahal which is what you're paying for. Helpful and Friendly staff welcomed us when we arrived earlier than expected at 6am and gave us a blanket and showed us to the common room as our room was obviously not ready. Very large bed with comfortable mattress. Lockers to leave your bags once you have checked out. Rooftop restaurant with a variety of options.

Our room smelled when we arrived and whilst this did dissipate eventually there was often a smell of cigarette smoke, possibly coming from the independent restaurant above our room. This also meant the room was a bit noisy (only in the morning). The room was clean despite the smell issue though. The shower may be faulty as it gave us a small electric shock but we have mentioned this and hopefully this will be fixed.

The location is definitely a bonus for this place as it being just 5 minutes walk from the entrance to the Taj Mahal. The hotel is split into two separate buildings, one with the dorm rooms and with a more lively atmosphere, (with the hostels cafe at the top of the building called Hippie cafe) and the other building is just 3 houses away but has the double rooms in there, with the hostel reception. I stayed in the double room (at the other building) and there is a roof top cafe (Chias Cafe) at the top of that building, it is not actually part of Joey's Hostel but shares the same stair way to go to the rooms or the Cafe. In my opinion, Chias Cafe had a better view as it was two floors above the Hippie cafe (which is at the other building and is part of Joey's Hostel) and has a more relaxed, family or mature couples environment with very nice clean food and menu, with proper table and chairs. Hippie cafe which is part of Joey's Hostel is located on the roof top of the dorm room, building and is definitely the one if your young and like to party or hang out, but there's no proper table where you can put your kness underneath them to eat. Regarding my double room, it was very big with a big bathroom and it was clean and tidy but can be further improved by paying a little more attention to detail in the corners and the furniture. The staff were all very good and heplful and very accommodating.

The hostel entrance is through an ally and it's not a very clean path to get there but for distance to the Taj Mahal, you can't complain.

Great place as you can see Taj Mahal from the top floor and it is a quick walk to the Taj,If you are coming to India to just see the Taj Mahal stay here and arrive early to avoid the crowds be at the gates at 5:00-5:30AM and book tickets online the staff can help. Also you only need half a day/less for Agra see the Taj get in and get out, the rest of the things to see in Agra are of waste of time and money in my opinion,TOUR GUIDES are not NEEDED for the Taj ,If you are going to the other places keep your foot coverings as they are required and should not cost more than 25 Rupees. Air Quality is poor around October,wear in a MASK in India for the pollution IT`S A MUST to avoid getting sick and try and drive in enclosed vehicles where ever possible,other than that great place to stay and be safe!!!

Location, terrace, the room, strong ac, mattresses, huge duvets. Haven! Breakfast was decent, the vibe is quite hippie, popular with tourists. The staff is rather nice and helpful. From the reception area you can go further and climb up to another terrace (Taj View cafe) and see the view, although the Hippie Cafe at Joey’s has a roof and fans so it’s more convenient;)

They have the laundry service and we were told that if we deliver the clothes in the evening we’ll get them around 4pm the next day as we were leaving. We asked 4 times did they remember and all we got was: okay, okay sir. Turned out they didn’t even know where the bags were and if they were ours. We came to collect and pay and turned out they didn’t even send it to be washed! Very disappointing as we really asked many times to make sure they would make it. The staff seemed to be indifferent to our requests.

My partner literally gasped when we walked up the stairs and saw the Taj Mahal from the Joey's hostel terrace. You pretty much cannot get closer to the gates of the Taj, it took us like 3 minutes to get there in the morning when we went. The staff is also *excellent* and so friendly and fun. We loved the movie night the night we arrived, the buffets are good value, and the chai is always plentiful. It's a great vibe, and we could not recommend it more.

The only thing I could have wished for was rental locks for the lockers we stored our bags in, but honestly everything was pretty great. Nothing bad to report!

- Good value for money - Helpful staff with great level of English - Rooftop terrace was great with an awesome view and good food - Walking distance to Taj Mahal, very convenient if you want to go in the early morning - The breakfast was simple but good and as it was a buffet, you can fill up for the day - Free chai in the evening which made sitting on the terrace even more enjoyable

- Area was kinda run down but that's a trade off for the proximity to the Taj Mahal - Some evenings the music on the rooftop was loud and there was karaoke, which of course is great for the guests who want it but is inconvenient if you want to get up at 5 am to go the the Taj so best bring earplugs just in case - Private rooms are small so it's hard to deal with opened suitcases

the rooftop terrace was great for meals and the view of the Taj... the staff was friendly. location great. we didn't go around much for food as we were there overnight to visit the Taj early morning. it was a convenient and cheap place to stay. we liked it. safety could be of concern because a strange beggar followed us up to our room door and no staff intervened until i raised my voice!

From the very first moment I entered the hostel I felt very warm energy and immediately extended one more night. Everyone was so kind, friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and they also have a wonderful rooftop with the nice view of Taj Mahal, great food and bon fire at night. Unfortunately I got really sick, which is the worse nightmare of every solo traveller, but everyone from the staff was super helpful and they helped me to get though it. I don't know what I would do without them as I was very weak and could not even walk myself. The whole stay felt like home and I got though my sickness easely thanks to these guys! Big thank you and keep doing what you doing! ❤️

The location is definitely what makes this accommodation popular as it is only a few mins walking distance to the entry gate for the Taj Mahal. The staff were helpful to inform us about how to get the taj mahal tickets (purchase online) and helped to organise a driver for our commute from Agra to Jaipur. We stayed in a private room with a bathroom which was a little outdated and very basic but has what you need for a short stay and good pressures hot water shower. There is a rooftop where you can chill and have endless amounts of masala chai tea which was nice. Did see many foreigners who also chose this accommodation. Overall for the price and location…it was good.
