Location is very central and very well connected to all the important spots. The room itself was fabulous, very spacious,clean and nicely decorated. The breakgfast was also very good. No complaints with my selection

the location of my room on the ground floor meant i have had issues with the internet as i kept getting disconnected often but i noticed that this was not an issue on the higher floors when i went for the breakfast. Maybe insisting for a higher floor room if you need the internet to work would be a safer choice

This property was like a home away from home during our time in Delhi. The staff were kind and helpful and our room was very comfortable. The hotel provided us with a transfer from the airport which was great as we arrived quite late. The breakfast was delicious each morning, especially the famous banana bread and the Bombay scrambled egg. Another nice touch was the complimentary dinner for one night and high tea every evening between 5-6pm. It was nice to have some chai tea and biscuits/ chocolate cake after exploring the city. Defence colony location was super handy and quiet- we were right beside the metro and there were grocery shops within a 5 minute walk away. Overall I highly recommend this place and would stay again if I come back to Delhi :)

Safe area of Delhi to base yourself in. 30 mins from airport and a cheap taxi ride to tourist spots. Very quiet residential road Rooms were very comfortable and well appointed Staff went over and above to help Restaurant on roof was a nice spot for breakfast, complementary tea and cake and the occasional good quality / value dinner Keeping our bags while we did an overnight trip to Amritsar Sitting rooms on every level were a nice place to relax and meet fellow travellers

Some minor noise could be heard from reception and the other rooms but it did not disturb our time there Limited choice of restaurants in local area meant we mainly ate in. Food in the restaurant was great, but we would have liked better options to eat out too

The room was very clean and aesthetically furnished. The hotel was 10 min walking distance from the Lajpat Nagar metro station. Breakfast was adequate and always served with a smile. Overall an excellent experience staying at Colonel's Retreat.

The hotel is in a very quiet residential neighborhood and there were no rikshas on hand easily. Also, if you need to buy something urgently, there are no general stores nearby; nor any eateries. But that shouldn't matter if you are here only for a couple of days as the property is good.

I absolutely loved this hotel and will certainly stay again. The team are all so welcoming and friendly, the breakfast was good, the rooms clean, bed comfy, the shower was hot and powerful, the water machine cool, and I chose to stay in for dinner one evening too and had a delicious biriyani. The hotel is in a peaceful spot without any noisy and fumey roads right outside which is a huge benefit in this city! I took Uber taxis (of which there were many and all with good driving - at least by Indian standards!) to the key sights which were all within 20mins or so (usually less than 200INR (~2.50 USD/EUR at time of writing).

The locations of this property and Colonel’s Retreat 2 (the other sister property) are not 100% clear on booking, google, Apple Maps or Uber. They get mixed up, and I almost didn’t book for tat reason. Note that at time of writing the correct location for this property shows as “Colonel’s Retreat 2” on google and Uber maps. The address is correct, but hard to find on google, although quite clear in real life!!

Terrific stay. Staff are very warm - especially Davinder and Pramud. Very clean rooms, quiet neighbourhood. They're environmentally conscious - drinking water is provided in coolers for filling bottles to eliminate plastic. Food was sensational - get the Paneer Makhni. This female solo traveller felt super comfortable and taken care of here. I'm returning for another night soon, and I can't wait to get back 'home' to Colonel's Retreat.

Very polite staff. Good food, even if I wanted to have dinner late (after 9.30) due to a meeting, they could accommodate it. They also convert EUR to INR at a very fair exchange rate. Also had lots of help with calling taxis to the residence.

I would have preferred to have sealed bottled water. Water did come in big canisters and was attached to water coolers, but was still a bit paranoid and used anti-bacterial solutions. From some dispensers, the water had a unusual taste (though this is not to say it wasn't drinkable). In my whole stay there I did not have any stomach problems

Great stay at the Colonel's retreat. My first time in India and it provided a very soft landing. The area is quiet and peaceful, well appointed rooms, and absolutely fantastic rooftop dining area and food. You will eat very very well here! Helpful as a solo traveller to meet others in the communal areas.

Not a criticism, but a suggestion. I liked the use of recyclable bottles for drinking water. I wonder if it would be possible to use refillable containers for shampoo/body wash to also reduce plastic waste in the bathroom.

I’m so grateful to the owners and the team for making this such a special place, and to my guide Rajini from India Woman Tours for suggesting this little gem. I stayed here 3 separate times during my fortnight in India in September. I gave it a 10/10 for the first visit, and then found the next two visits surpassed the first! Wonderful, warm staff. Quiet, super safe neighbourhood. Exceptional food. Exceptional rooms. As a solo female traveller I couldn’t have felt safer or more taken care of.

We loved this property! Friendly staff and a very helpful security guard. The breakfast was lovely and we’d recommend eating dinner. Home cooked food; a good variety of choices and a generous supply of breads for the set price. The water was hot and the shower pressure strong; essentials for travelling. Thick towels too! We were grateful of the fan heater since temperatures dropped lower than we had anticipated. The hotel stored our luggage for our return since we re visited twice. We loved the banana bread and complimentary hot drink on arrival after a long journey! The small dining room was a hive of traveller chatter during our stay. The property is easily accessed from the airport and we visited the main attractions within a short Uber ride.
