What an incredible time we had at Chrissie’s Hotel! An absolute gem of a place to stay if wanting to visit the Periyar national park or just relax and enjoy the nature. The “A team” were amazing from arrival and treated us so well throughout our stay. We had a complimentary lemon juice on arrival and then sat with Adel to discuss all the activities we could do whilst we were there. We actually extended our stay because there was more we wanted to do. They organised a spice garden tour, traditional Keralan show and martial arts, trekking and bamboo rafting and a jeep safari tour, trek and boating in the Periyar National Park. As well as providing a delicious breakfast every morning. Watching the monkeys,squirrels and birds from the balcony was definitely a highlight. The room was very clean and they also provided laundry service which we were grateful for. Wish we could have stayed longer as it’s such a relaxing place. Would highly recommend!

A delightful experience. We arrived after a somewhat bone-shaking bus journey from Kottayam. Adel, the consummate host, immediately made us feel at home and sent us some ginger tea with honey to soothe our stomachs. They produce the honey on site! The hotel's location is perfect for exploring the nearby Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and enjoying the beautiful landscapes of Thekkady. The room was spacious and well-furnished, featuring comfortable beds and a lovely balcony that provided stunning views of the surrounding greenery, not to mention many species of birds and some very cheeky monkeys! On our second night a troop of monkeys settled in the trees outside our room. At dawn we wrapped ourselves in blankets and watched them for an hour. Absolutely magical!. The cleanliness and attention to detail in the room made it a comfortable retreat after a day of adventures. The artworks throughout the hotel give it a charming, creative feel. One of the highlights of my stay was the warm hospitality from the staff. They were friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and always ready to assist with any inquiries or provide recommendations for local attractions. The hotel also offers a restaurant with a rooftop dining area that serves a variety of delicious dishes, including local Kerala cuisine, Italian and Middle Eastern. Breakfast was a combination of home made goodies, like bread and granola, boiled eggs and fruit. I don't drink caffeine so they made me fresh mint tea. Just an example of the thoughtful attention and care that was typical of our stay here. In summary, I highly recommend Chrissie's Hotel for anyone visiting Thekkady. With its charming accommodation, excellent service and convenient location, it's a wonderful choice for a memorable stay in this beautiful area. We'll be back!

The WiFi signal was a little inconsistent. The pool is a little small but still great for a refreshing dip.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We were a group of 8, and they made all of us feel very comfortable. The rooms were large and clean. There were no mosquitoes in the room. The balconies opened out to the amazing forest/garden. Sitting on the balcony we could spot an incredible diversity of wildlife. This is one of the best features of the hotel. The views from the rooftop were amazing! People in our group enjoyed the pool. The breakfast buffet was also very good - there is both south Indian and bread/cereals available, and they were all very good. The homemade jams, chocolate and peanut butter were very tasty. The staff also had excellent tips for viewpoints and spice gardens. We had early morning appointments at the forest and they thoughtfully provided us with bananas before we left. The helpful staff is the second best thing about the hotel!

Rooms were minimal - some furniture in the room like a cupboard or a table would have been nice, but not a huge issue.

Great stay with greenery all around, super beautiful vibe in the middle of the town. We got to see loads of nilgiri langurs and birds during our stay. The owner Adel is such a lovely person and really helpful with anything that you need. Plus he provides some really great recommendations. The food is great and the breakfast spread has some of the best homemade jams and chocolates you'll get anywhere. Everything is at a walking distance and since it is in a parallel road to the main road, traffic is much lower. Highly recommend this stay

We loved this hotel! From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we felt so well looked after by Adel and his team! They will organise anything you need and anywhere you want to go, nothing is too much trouble. The property is lovely with beautiful artwork on the walls and in the rooms. Breakfast was amazing and had plenty of homemade choices, even home-made cheese which was soooo good! We saw plenty of monkeys from our balcony too! There are lots of trees and gardens around the property which make it feel really like a jungle! It is within easy walking distance of many shops and restaurants. Stay here you will not be disappointed! Thank you!

Nothing not to like!

Chrissies Hotel is the perfect stay for you vacation. It is in one word just loveley. We had a great trip to the Tiger Reserve but the next morning we saw more monkeys, Birds, bats and squirrel from our balkony at the hotel than we have seen in a whole day at the reserve. Breakfast is perfect, hot water shower, very clean and nice room, rooftop Pool and chill area. Staff is smiling all the time and very helpfull to arrange trips etc...

Hotel is perfect but be aware of Shop owners in the streets. They give you rediculous high prices and try to scam you. Not all of them, but most do.

This place was amazing. I felt like I was in a jungle with a giant squirrel that I could often see from the balcony, also there was a large group of langurs we saw multiple times during our 4-day stay and we had macaques visiting the pool area. There were quite some exotic birds too, including a visiting woodpecker, a jungle owl, and there were so many drongos flying around. We stayed on the first floor where wifi was good enough to stream Netflix. The staff was amazing: such nice people who did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Great value for money and also a great place to bring your kids.

We ordered a lot of food and had a try of many (affordable) dishes. The mezze was fantastic and one of our kids loved the tomato pasta, but the rest of the food, including breakfast, was not as good as hoped.

We really enjoyed our stay at Chrissie's, the hotel is tucked away from the busy street and hidden between the trees. Plenty of visitors from the nearby jungle: giant squirrel, mischievous monkeys, birds, which we loved. Adel is a great host and we loved the welcome tea after a long trip in the winding roads on the hills. The staff of the hotel and café does an amazing job to make everyone feel welcome and taken care of. They provided great info on what to do in the surroundings and how to organize trips. The rooftop pool was also very enjoyable with the hot days.

The weather was exceptionally hot during our stay and the room stayed hot at night. We had to choose between keeping the window closed and sleep in the heat or open it and welcome the mosquitoes. Tried both and had two nights of little to no sleep, which was a pity. Maybe full-window mosquito nets and/or better fans could help, or maybe we were just really unlucky with the weather. Either way, if we come back we would love to stay here again

This was our first visit to India, and Chrissie's was an excellent base to acclimatise from. All the staff, and particularly Adel, were wonderfully kind and helpful, making good recommendations and giving good advice. We booked all our Periyar tiger reserve tickets through them several weeks before arrival for a small extra fee, which made things so much easier (especially as lots of activities were sold out by the time we arrived). The food was excellent, and we really enjoyed sitting on our balcony (Room 13 at canopy level) watching the langurs and giant squirrels.

This place is brilliant, with great staff, all friendly and helpful, led by the fantastic Amjad, Anthony and Adel who were beyond brilliant in helping to arrange safaris, cultural visits and other general advice for the area. Adel is terrific, his energy and positivity are inspirational. He welcomed us with complimentary drinks and helped us so much throughout our time, recommending a spice garden visit that was extremely good and even giving tips on where to buy clothes in Thekkady (amongst loads of help with other things and friendly chats). The kitchen staff are great, and I think it spilled over into the guests who were all relaxed and sharing stories. We saw loads of wildlife from our room balcony - birds, macaques, black monkeys, a Malabar squirrel, it was amazing. The place is really focused on sustainability and was a practical example of being sustainable whilst maintaining high standards of hospitality, ie hot water in the showers, no power cuts, boiling water provided to each room every morning for tea and coffee. It's definitely worth checking out this place.

Nothing negative about the hotel. One thing I'd advise is some Periyar NP tours book out on advance and the website doesn't accept foreign cards so it's worth getting in touch with Chrissies ahead of time to request they book for you if possible.
