The location was superb. The Ship Hotel was an amazing experience. We loved the history of the 100+ years of the ship and the tour was very interesting. A really large area for a four story hotel within the ship. The grounds were well kept and there was plenty of room to be on your own. We loved the beautiful sunsets…some of the best we have seen anywhere in the world. Spectacular!

There was not a lot to do there but rest and relax. The huge infinity pool set against the backdrop of the calm ocean was a balm for the soul.

Love the location, a mere 5mins walk from ferry terminal, the 100yo history of this Grand Old Lady of the Sea & grateful of Mr Eric Saw's (owner) perseverance to answer this calling to buy and convert the ship to hotel with a purpose & his mission to donate all profits to Bintan charities. The ship hotel was truly design with guests' experience in mind, the use of amenities (e.g. sunset by infinity pool), space (e.g. open decks for guest to explore, library room, cabin room window side seatings) & the beautiful setup of cabin housekeeping is impeccable.

Like nothing at all to dislike.

It was very convenient to get to from the ferry terminal. A quick 2-minute ride and you're ready for some relaxation. The room was spacious with a refreshing view of the sea! The staff were polite and very helpful with recommendations for activities. Massage services are competitively priced. Breakfast options were good! I really enjoyed their Eggs Benedict. The free heritage tour of the property is a good bonus if you would like to have a better appreciation of the piece of history that is MV Doulos. The shelves of books (with a wide variety of titles) at the hotel lobby was a brilliant detail! I enjoyed reading one of the books during our stay.

The property might seem to be a tad too quiet for others' liking, but it is perfect for guests like us who prefer rest over recreation. Perfect for retreats where the goal is to have a time of reflection, silence and solitude.

We had a magical 3d2n stay at the Doulos Phos hotel. Befitting of the moniker “ grand lady of the seas” indeed. We arrived on a sunny December afternoon. It was a 10 min short ride from the ferry terminal. So convenient. We were greeted by old school lobby that felt warm like a classic reading parlour replete with comfy sofas, a clarinova and books of different languages. Doulos Phos spells character from the start. What a wonderful greeting. Its unpretentious decor may seem frills free to some, but I had fallen in love with the welcoming space. Wide airy spaces envelop you with its dappled sunlight from the deck. The cabin feels positively spiritual. Our family of 4 loves the bouncy pillows and soft yet supportive bed. You can see intricate decor touches on the pillowcases and bath robes. And the sailor nautical touches abound Many new cookie cutter hotels don’t do this anymore. If the old world romantic in you craves for something more personal you may find it here. There is a signature tea or reading corner that our family love..cozy nook for beer or kueh lapis and coffee! We had a connecting room 407 and 409. The bathroom is spacious and boasts of various amenities for hygiene. We actually enjoyed using the bathrobes. Our 1st Breakfast on a Sunday was a carefully curated menu. Although not a buffet for main entree, it was a fair portion of nicely done Western and Indo fare. Accompanying it was a free flow of salad, cereal, bread and dessert. Our 2nd breakfast on Monday was a La Carte with a good selection that differed from first day. It was plenty. And I love the strong black coffee! Abd that deliciously moist brownie cake. I’m a breakfast aficionado and I love everything Doulos Phos has offered. The infinity pool is way way better than the one at MBS in Singapore. It was so long I can do proper hearty laps.

Our stay at the Doulos Phos The Ship Hotel was nothing short of remarkable. Nestled in a unique location, this hotel offers an unparalleled experience that blends nautical charm with luxurious comfort. The fact that it holds a place in the Guinness Book of Records adds an extraordinary touch to the stay, making it not just a hotel visit but a part of history. The cabins are beautifully appointed, combining the quaint essence of ship life with modern amenities, ensuring a comfortable and memorable stay. However, what truly sets Doulos Phos apart is its crew. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcomed and valued. Their attention to detail and genuine care enhance the overall experience, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking a blend of history, luxury, and warm hospitality.

The food, although tasty, could have benefited from higher quality and a more extensive menu selection to cater to a wider range of palates. Similarly, the breakfast options, though satisfactory, were somewhat limited and could be expanded to offer a more fulfilling start to the day. Despite these points, dining with a view of the sea was an absolute delight, adding a special touch to the meals and enhancing the overall culinary experience.

We loved the ship and its history. There is a very interesting free heritage tour every day, make sure not to miss it. When you arrive at the ferryterminal, there is a free pick up (2-minute ride). But you always need a driver or taxi to go everywhere else on the island, cause theres not much around and nothing in walking distance. The room was spacious and clean with a grat view. The staff were polite and very helpful. Breakfast options were ok, the restaurant was only average and expensive, so you better try local food in one of the closer villages. Great infinity-pool with outstanding views and sunsets.

When we arrived, there was a very bad smell (mould?) in our room. The room itself was very clean, but you can't open the windows, so whe think it was the ac. When we told the staff, they apologized and told us they'd take care of it. When we came back from our trip, it was better, but the smell came back during the night, so even our clothes smelled the next day. We would definately come back, cause we liked everything else, but we would either choose a room with windows to open or be more persistant in asking for a solution.

Super original and the location next to the ferry makes it a great choice for a short getaway. The tour to know more about the ship was fun. The staff is great and super helpful.

It feels like the hotel is still lacking a few amenities and a bit of work to reach its full potential. Like a fancier dining option and a liquor licence (they only served softs and beers). But it’s a great place and I would definitely recommend it.

Good and exceptional service. Both my friend and I had our ferry booked in the evening, and the owner immediately checked if we can delay our check-out time to so that we can relax till our departure. Really appreciate that flexibility. Staff were friendly and good breakfast. It’s also an interesting concept and inspiring commitment to set up ship hotel. Very clean rooms.

It will be even better if some areas such as the corners of the wash basin, toilet and switches can be cleaned from dust or wash stains lookalike from the past. ( Just a tiny comment so that the hotel can look even more luxurious )

Interesting history of the ship to learn and stay in, makes it special from other resorts in the area especially when most proceeds go to charity. Service throughout our stay was prompt, warm and friendly and the rooms were comfortable. View from the infinity pool was quite enjoyable and peaceful. Food at the piano lounge was great too! Location is very near the ferry terminal as well, we're looking forward to the grand opening when the hotel is fully open!

Would be great if pool's jaccuzi was working and there was a more extensive drink bar menu.

Three things stand out: a converted passenger ship was a new one for us in the themed hotel class; a great swimming pool, and conveniently close to the ferry to Singapore. The Bintan resort area is frankly a little bleak in my view and impossible to get around without a car. We were there during the week and so few people (the weekend is supposedly crowed with people from Sng). Another thing that was great was the breakfast.

During the week there were few visitors so only the restaurant facing out to the swimming pool was serving. Another that reputedly serves Indo-Dutch cuisine was closed the days we were there.
