We received a lovely welcome drink on arrival and the staff couldn’t do enough for you. They were very welcoming and are an asset to the hotel. The room itself was extremely comfy and had a great shower. It was generally quiet which made for a very relaxing stay. We ordered room service which was very well priced.

The location is very close to Ubud but if we were to stay again we would probably stay closer to the main streets. It’s hard to walk about so getting transport was essential which often meant sitting in traffic for 30 minutes on way to a dinner reservation. We felt a lack of privacy as our balcony was very open and staff would come round twice daily to make up the room - they would tend to show up about 5pm when we were showering and getting ready for dinner.

Such a fantastic hotel. The pool is amazing. The staff is lovely. The food was very nice. We had an amazing stay.

I personally didn't mind, but some people could have a problem with the amount of crickets and nearby roosters making noise at any time of the day.

Hotel makes you feel like living in a jungle. Wll designed with nice swimming pool and tasty breakfasts. Staff really welcoming and always ready to help. You can rent a bike (from 100.000 per day) right at reception

Quite away from cafes and activities. Also ask for a quite room if you are a light sleeper. As there is very early awaeking cock, which starts screaming at 5-30 :)

Merak Village is a peaceful retreat away from the bustling traffic and crowds of Ubud, which we really appreciated. Despite this, it remains highly accessible to all nearby attractions. A special shoutout to Ashi, the receptionist, who made our stay exceptional. She helped us arrange transportation, provided personalized recommendations based on our preferences, and ensured every detail of our travel plans was taken care of. The rooms were great, the service was excellent, and the leafy outlook were lovely. Overall, it’s a peaceful and pleasant place to stay. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Ubud!

Some rooms don’t face the courtyard and instead look into the reception area. Fortunately, we were able to switch rooms after the first day. Had we stayed in one of these rooms for the entire duration, our experience might not have been as enjoyable.

Very nice and modern stay just a fee minutes outside Ubud city center (by scooter). The room was very clean and modern. The personell is very helpfull and friendly. It was a short but pleasant stay.

The only thing we mentioned to the front desk is the fact that a bugscreen in the bathroom for the vents would be helpfull to prevent critters coming in, the bathroom has open vents and the hotel is surrounded by nature.

The value for money is great. It is really clean, top service, nice bed/bathrooms, swimmingpool, good airconditioning for a really good price for ubud. Thoughtful staff: We did a mount batur tour from here and the staff made sure we had a breakfast box to go at 2 am. Also a nice welcome drink upon arrival.

Massage/spa could have been better. I would suggest putting on a calming music and make the room smell nice. Now it smelled a little dusty in there. The masseuse was also on her phone during the massage and therefore only used one hand… The neighbours have a rooster and chickens which make a lot of noise. The location is ok but walking 30 mins to the center of Ubud is tough with all the traffic. However the center is really close when going by scooter or car.

The location is great, far from the noisy city centre but also it is easily accessible within less than 10mins by scooter if one would go out. Breakfast and food in their own resturant is very rich and tasty, the stuff is super nice and very helpful. They have massage opportunity where they provide balinese massage - very relaxing on a fair price. The rooms, pool and everything in general is very clean and we could use the laundry services as well . Also great about this place is that they provide free mineral water refill option and they also make ice from mineral water so we didnt have to worry about that either.

The rooms were really comfortable with a really good shower. Breakfast was great with a good choice and I had the best banana pancakes I have ever tasted. The whole hotel is peaceful, beautiful and relaxing and all of the staff were super helpful and friendly. This is a hidden gem of a hotel.

You feel at home. Rooms are really cozy and clean. The staff was good standard. We tried motorbike rental, the swimming pool breakfast and booking tours to Ubud and Mt Batur as well as shuttles and fast boats to the Gili islands, all of them booked the night before by the hotel staff.

Merak Village, October 2024, Solo Traveller Holiday. -General- 10/10. My stay here was exceptional. A nice hideaway tucked into the backstreets of Ubud, where I felt I was in the natural environment of this paradise island (birds, trees, etc all around). Not too far out from the main streets by walk (15-40 min depending on which area), or you can easily get a short taxi. The main reason for my 10/10 experience was because of the Merak Village family. They were exceptional, thank-you so much for your hospitality, and a special thank-you to Ayu. -Reception- the reception area greets you as you enter into the sanctuary of the village. It feels natural, in place and peaceful within its surroundings. It’s not massive, but there’s plenty of space there and it’s in the heart of the village, so, easily accessible for all sides. The reception staff were all from Bali and were all incredibly helpful, happy, and kind. They put me at ease, and helped me get the most of out of my holiday in Ubud. -Staff- after travelling to over 20+ countries and 30+ cities abroad, for me, they were the best I have ever encountered. What sets them apart? They helped me get the relaxation and break I needed, but also helped me make the most of my time there. Even kindly prepared a breakfast box for me when I set out on a tour super early! -Room- Cosy, a private porch, amazing bathroom, ground floor, easy to get in and out, AC, clean, fridge, plug multi adapter available in room, fragrant flowers upon arrival, natural wooden decor keeping in theme with the rest of the village, TV, good plentiful and adjustable lighting (create a nice ambience). -Breakfast- the breakfasts were ordered with reception the night before, fresh fruits with yoghurt, a range of different mains with a bread basket and fresh fruit juice / smoothie and of course Balinese coffee.
